Summer At The Gift Shop

 Can it be Monday already?

Thank you everyone for the sweet comments.

Just no time right now to respond back.

That time of year with so many things going on.

Do appreciate them though!

Right after Easter, I started getting our
back room ready for Summer.

We are 11 miles from Lake St Clair
and 31 miles from Lake Huron,
plus we are a hop skip and jump from the St Clair River,
which connects these two lakes.

Being a river town,
lots of folks stop in looking for nautical themed items.

Even at our antique store,
so it only makes sense
to have a river and lake theme
for our gift shop.

I search far and wide to find unusual items.

It pays off because our room is emptying out.

Which is also good because our storage room
is not that big.

Plus with me starting Halloween
in 13 days.....

well it is less I have to pack away too.

Still finishing up the last of my Halloween
crafts...oh how I wish I still had more time.
Oh well, it will have to do.

I have regulars coming in now
asking when Halloween will be out.

They are excited as I am.

Some even asked if they can preview before
I open up the back room.

Every time I set op the back room
for the next season,
I put up a heavy quilt in the doorway.

This makes sure no one can see in
whilst I am getting it ready.

Well have to go to work now.
Hope you enjoyed the pics,
even though not prim...I so enjoy
decorating for the seasons.

The Rest Of The Story

Did I get your attention. :-)

Today is the remaining pics of my kitchen.
My plate rack.
The remaining are in the cabinet.
Both grammas had indoor plants,
so this lil faux one is in a granite berry bucket.

This is the space underneath the now spice rack.
The wood box holds my dish rags.
The opening will fit a toaster though.
In front is my salt and pepper holder,

Decided I wanted my prim spoon rack
on the side of my cabinet.

A wider shot.
So sorry Robin...still cannot see those blue
pantry boxes on top.

The stove area.

The stove stayed where it was originally.
The only thing new here was the tile
and a new stove vent.

I love how my new stove light gives
off the shadows of my display.

This is my new spice cabinet.

I had to show the inside
because that dang pipe is still there.
Bottom shelf holds the garbage bags and
dishwasher pods.
The rest are spices.

My wooden spoons are still here to the right
of the stove on the counter.

The sink.
Don't look at my ugly window.
We get new ones soon.

This enamel piece holds my sponges.
The candy mold is of course bunnies.

Both grammas had castor oil stashed
in their kitchens, so I decided to add
a bottle to mine now.
I like these round graters
because if you add a candle they give
off a cool pattern.
This display is on a marble cheese board.

Place some blue flowers in a blue Ball jar in back.

A bit dark, but its been raining a lot.

Another shot.

Tried to get a better pic of those pantry boxes.

Different angle.

Finally looking in from the living room.

Now if Bob hangs the item

above our table I will show you that.

PS thanks to all who commented on my last post.

Not enough time to answer them, but so

appreciate them!.

Rest Of The Story Blessings To All!

A Bit More Patriotic

July here in Michigan had been more like April.

More rain than sun.

Hopefully everyone else has more sun than rain,

Come take a stroll with me to see
some more of my Patriotic decor.
This is an up close of my chalk ware Uncle Sam.
Paired with this Americana bank.

Handmade flag bunting I made a few years back.

This flag is not old, but love that it says 76.

Winnie gifted me this lil pot holder,
which is underneath my candle.
Thank you again Winnie.

Wrapped patriotic ribbon around my dress hoop.

Tucked in my linsey woolsey blanket
in with my blue tick pillows.

Another gift from Winnie was this basket.
A perfect fit for my stars.

More ribbon around my violin.
Just a simple touch don't you think.
I purchased this coverlet for $25 at an antique store.
It is faded a bit and has a few holes, but worth so much more.
I truly do not think the vendor knew what they had.
Lucky for me though.

More red white and blue in my pillows.
I so love red and blue,
and so perfect for July decorating!

20 days until I start decorating the gift shop.
Just hope the last of the Halloween I purchased
arrives in time.
Will be taking a week vacation to get it all done.

Have a great rest of your weekend!

Coffee Bar

Can it already be the middle of July already?

Geez time goes by fast.

More of my kitchen reveal.
In the corner a repro mug stand.
Gramma H had the real McCoy.
So wish I could have had some of her things.
She had a farm auction after selling
her property and she wanted new everything
for her next home.
Everything sold.
Now Bob has a place for his coffee mugs.
{I don't drink coffee}
The white piece is an early enamel tea strainer.
Both grammas drank tea and coffee.

Bob's Keurig and another glass coffee jar,
with coffee inside this time.
Another breadboard of mine too.
I so love the pattern of the wood once it was stained.

The French blue enamel milk can.

A nice little coffee bar corner,
just for Bob.

I forgot I had this napkin holder.
My dad made this for me in the 80's.

Once I dusted it, it will stay here.
Now I have to remember where I put my napkins.

A wider shot of our corner.
Loving my blue and white!

On top of the one cabinet are
my blue pantry boxes.
I should have taken a better pic of these
in a wider shot.
Oh well, next time.

In other news...
am getting so excited for the debut of our
Halloween room at our gift shop.
This year I decided to make it all about
the witch.
I have some really cool stuff I purchased.
The store will also feature pumpkins,
ghosts, skeletons, and other fun items.
Debut is Friday August 13th.
How cool is that!
Unless you are superstitious.
I will also have my handmades...
some OOAK goodes too!
