The Urban Garage

Hope everyone is enjoying the weekend.
We woke up to snow...
and April Fool's is not until tomorrow.

As promised...a few pics of our new store.
I took off another day of work Friday.
We spent 12 hours at the store.
Bob worked our other store yesterday,
and I was back at the new one painting.

We have a small room in the new store
with the ceilings being 8 ft.
We decided to make this room
a nautical one.
Bob took this rolled map of the lake near us,
and added tobacco sticks fastened with a metal piece
on the back, so it would hang without curling up.

A prim cabinet with a metal wall file.
The file is perfect for some nautical books
we added.

The main room has tall ceilings.
This is Bob's all things Ford wall.
Including this bench made from a Ford tailgate.

Our little sewing area.
An old chair spring hanging on the wall.
The scrabble tiles are what I am currently painting.
I am creating 6 of each letter right now.
Just started letter "M" before I ran out of wood.
Worked only 8 hours yesterday.
After the store closed, we were headed North
to buy more materials
to make more tiles and lamps...
however the next town up it was snowing bad.
We decided to just stop and eat, and went back home.

Our movie vignette.
We hung these movie reels from the ceiling.

A little area for doors and windows that will be for sale.

More to show...and much more to do.
Our opening date is scheduled for May 1st.
We may do a soft opening...not sure yet.

Today I will be doing laundry.
BBQ beef sandwiches,
 potato salad and devilled eggs
for dinner tonight.

Well off to make breakfast.
Hope you have a sparkling day!

Redware

Happy Thursday all!
A friend of mine told me a saying yesterday
You have Monday and Tuesday
and after that next 3 work days
 WTF
(Wednesday, Thursday and Friday)
Cannot type what she really said,
so I hope you know what the initials also mean.

So before we started working at the new store,
I was working on my latest rug hooking.
I was perusing antique redware plates online,
and the light bulb lit up in my head.

Why not hook some redware plates?
So I drew six plates.
Made these thus far.

Not sure what this pattern is called, but loved it.

Then I hooked this lil birdie.

My third design is this heart.
Not quite finished.
Each are about 6 inches across.

They will all be backed with this fabric.

Not sure when I will be able to finish
the last three,
but when completed, all six will be part
of my Christmas 2019.
Yes I said Christmas. LOL
I am always thinking ahead.

 The Urban Garage
[our new store]
is still a work in process.
Bob already sold the floor lamp he made,
the vintage furniture and a pond boat.
I told him he needs to lock the door,
so no one else will walk in while he is there.

Each day after work this week,
I stop by...we grab a bite to eat and work
another two or three hours.
Currently I have been painting tiles.
Will show pics in my next post.

Have a great day!

Early Homestead Primitive Show

Holly, MI
was the place to be last Saturday.

40 Dealers packed full
of prim goodness!

Let the pics tell you how I felt.
Lots of eye candy,
and here are a few.

The next pics were our booth.

Hope you enjoyed being at the show
via my pics.
We had fun visiting with our antique friends.
I also scored on a few items I purchased.
Will show those in another post.

Well back to work I go.

Revamping

Spring is in the air.
The Woodpeckers are out and about.
The Red Winged Blackbirds are back.
The Mute Swans are preparing their nests,
and the Muskrats have come out of their
Winter dens.

For this Spring chick (lol)
I have decided to revamp
our bedroom a bit.

The idea came to me when
I saw this large Bemis bag.

When I saw this overly large feed bag,
I knew it would fit on my chair.

I love that the owner stenciled
their name on it.
Fits perfectly!
Now to find the time to redo the bedroom.

Bob and I have been working 12 hour days
since last Friday,
trying to get the new store ready.

Today we are off to set up for the
Holly, MI prim show which is tomorrow.
My son will be here taking care of our kitties.

I will be sue to take pics of the show.
Hope to find that special find(s)...
and some wool.

Hope you all enjoy your weekend!

Dust Bunnies

Sunday I needed to finish up my bunnies
for the show.
I only made a few.
Procrastination is a word
in my vocabulary lately.
At the first of the year I had every
intention of making lots of bunnies....
P R O C R A S T I N A T I O N
should be my word for the year.

Here is the one bunny I managed to finish.
Actually made two.
His every day look.

Now he is sporting his Spring look.

His Autumn look.

His Winter look when he gets cold.

I spent my Entire Sunday working on these.
except for laundry.
Dinner was in the crock pot.
The dust bunnies will stay another week,
since no cleaning was accomplished.

I took this week off to help Bob with the new store.
Monday I spent the entire day cleaning
our huge cabinet that will reside at the front door,
This will hold some architectural and industrial,
and whatever will fit in it.
Yesterday I painted some squares
that Bob cut out.
These will be turned into scrabble tiles for the wall.
On our way now to do more.

Do you ever procrastinate?

March CupbpardScape

Happy Saturday all!

The new store is coming along great!
We spent yesterday cleaning and started
a few vignettes.
We are going with a nautical theme
for the back half since we are along the river.
We have mixed in a prim cabinet, metal,
a map and vintage furniture.
Still need to add some fillers.
Once we get this area done I will show some pics.

Today we will be back at it.

Thursday a few counties Northwest of us,
four tornadoes touched down.
70 homes and business' lost.
Please say a wee prayer for those folks.
We had rain mostly yesterday,
but then a bit more snow.

For this CupboardScape
I wanted it to be
light and airy.
I will let the pics tell the story.
Hope you enjoy!

Hope you all have a great weekend!

Try Try Try

And try again.
Happy Wednesday everyone.
These past two days has been a treat for me.
Along the river now are golden eyed ducks.
Cute black and white divers with gold eyes.
They come down from Canada each year for a bit.

My post name is fitting today because
I did have to try and try again to finish
this latest hook.
I had thought it was complete...

But I was not happy with the colors I chose
for the outline of the bunny.
I felt the white was too stark.
So try again.

I took out the white and added tan.
Now the outline blended into the bunny.
So try again.

Next I chose this blue.
This ring of sky I did not like either.
So try again.

I finally went with the same blue
that you see to the left of the tail.

It may look like the sames blues, but trust me
they were two different colors.
Now I just have to add a backing for this new mat.
This one is also for sale.

Sometimes you just have to try try try
and try again.

Do you ever work on something that just
does not look right, so you try again?
It happens to me.
