Kitty Rug

Is it Spring or Winter?

This is my drawing for the rug I started.

Kitty in the middle,
with diamonds on each side.
I picked diamonds because Peeps was
a gem of a kitty in life.

I realized though that I made the eyes and nose too
high up on the that was changed.

Then I drew this paper flower.
So I might incorporate this into the middle diamond
on each side.
Not sure on what to do with the other diamonds.
Any suggestions?

So here is the kitty almost all hooked.
Looking at these pics, I was not happy
with his face.
So I ripped out some of his chest that
was tan and re-hooked it in gray
to make his head bigger.

It looks better, but maybe I should rip out one more row.
Although it may look better
when I add his whiskers.
Thoughts here?

Now I am not sure if I should go in the ditch
and add some definition to his paws.
What do you think?
I am being very critical of this rug.
Maybe I am overthinking it...but am not
100% happy with it at the moment.

I already added some white around his eyes.

At least the eyes look like Peeps now.
A big difference it made.

Your ideas here would be very helpful.

Hope everyone is enjoying their week.

Kitty Blessings To All!

  1. Looks great Janice. I am so glad you are hooking now.

  2. I think adding definition to the paws is a good idea. Love how the face looks now with your changes. Thank you for sharing this as a WIP for us. Gives us inspiration to play around with our own projects til they look just right.

    1. Thank you Maureen. I received great advise from others doing this too! Janice

  3. I can’t add any suggestions here but I just want to say that I think this rug is a sweet and beautiful tribute to your Peeps kitty! When you get it just as it should be, I have no doubt it will be perfect. Sweet little Peeps, how your Mama misses you so!

    1. Thank you Winnie. Yes I do miss our Peeps. Janice

  4. What a sweet remembrance of your Peeps . Really liking what you've done so far and hoping as you work wonderful memories are hooked into it .

    1. Thank you Linda. I am enjoying hooking this rug. I even cut my worms by hand. Janice

  5. I think he looks wonderful maybe adding a bit of the back ground would give it a different look.

    1. Yes I agree with the background. Will do that next. Janice

  6. Loooove your kitty rug!
What a sweet honor...I should do this for our little Lola who we lost a few years ago.
I'm not good with color suggestions either so I'm just enjoying looking at what a great job you have done so far.

    1. Thank you Karen. It was a hard choice picking out colors, but I think so far so good. Janice

  7. Hi Janice,
Your rug is really coming along and so very sweet! I think when you add a bit of background, it will help you with your other color choices!! Great job and I'm sure it is also very therapeutic for you as you hook, to remember all those happy memories!! Enjoy pulling each loop!!
