Can Fall Be Near

The temps have been cooler here in Michigan.
The windows were open all weekend,
with the kitties enjoying their catio too!
I enjoyed hooking away
whilst watching my old timey movies.
Lady Gambler (Barbara Stanwyck & Joel McCrea)
Easter Parade ( Fred Astaire & Judy Garland)
Stars In My Crown (Joel McCrea)
to name a few.

Just something about old movies to me
makes me feel warm and fuzzy inside.

Bob and I switched out our tv cabinet with a table.
Thank you sweetie.
Now to decorate said cabinet.
Maybe next weekend.

I did however decorate my brown cabinet.

In between hooking that is.

I purchased these herb boxes
on the trail weekend.
These I was told came from a drug store
which went out of business awhile back.

Colombo which is another word
 for Curry Powder.

Ash Bark Prickley was used for joint pain, toothache,
menstrual cramps, and also used to break
a fever by sweating.

Life Root Plant
was traditionally used to hasten childbirth
while reducing labor pain, used for a cough.
It is not recommended any longer
because of its toxic nature.

Each are still full and never been opened.

I also purchased this fun nut garland.
Perfect for Autumn and only $5.00 for 2.
The other one is on my other kitchen cabinet.

Such a sweet simple Autumn vignette.
Even better with a bunny!

Off to work I go.
Cannot believe this is the last week of August.

Looking outside this morning the sky is red.

Can Fall Be Near Blessings To All!

  1. I have an old scale like one in a picture. It was my grandfather's and remember it being in one of his buildings, but now mine. When walking by it brings back fond memories.

  2. Hi Janice,
I am also a HUGE old movie fan and would much prefer them to the new anytime! Love all those you mentioned, too!!! Have you ever seen Hobson's Choice? If not, be sure to watch it sometime!! It is FANTASTIC!!! I could go on and on........:)
Your new display is just too sweet and perfect!!! I have several of those old scales and love to use them for display as well!!
Wish we could have our windows open but not a fan of letting in 108 degree heat!! Looking forward to those cooler fall temps SOON!
    Enjoy your week!

  3. I refuse to believe August is almost over. I love having the windows open, but sure don't look forward to having them closed because of the cold temps :(
    Sweet vignette as always.

  4. Cooler? I'd call it downright cold! And getting more so, I think. I'm headed back north tomorrow where it's just a small space heater and fireplace. Might be packing warmer clothes to take with!

    Love your arrangements!

    2. I can't believe we're in the last week of august either. I'm excited for fall but I will be sad to say goodbye to summer. We had a beautiful week here also but now we're back to hot. Friday will be close to 90 so we are going to try to get the boat out and enjoy some of these last summer days.

I love your brown cabinet d├ęcor. You are so good and putting things together.

  5. Good morning, Janice! Thank you so much for stopping by my blog this week. I love the herb boxes you found. I saved an old Colman's mustard tin for years, before finally letting it go. I planned to use it as a planter, but never got around to it. LOL! I'm so excited for cooler weather too. Take care!
