Hello friends.
We had an awesome weekend for both stores.
It warms our heart that so many customers
came out to support us.
Many even told us to keep the change...
which I did not do, however a generous gesture.
Today I wanted to show you more
of my bedroom redo.
I added my faux fern plant inside this hornbeam.
Hornbeam is a hardwood tree.
It grows in most parts of the U.S.
It was mainly used for tool handles,
walking sticks and hollowed out to hold
potatoes, corn other food stuff.
Let's say it was a pioneers pantry.
No matter what time of day,
I could not get a really good pic
of this corner.
My antique rocking horse sits on top
of this chippy creamy white cabinet.
The coverlet is an overshot pattern.
Overshot patterns began as a way
for weavers to express themselves
with more intricate designs.
With these types of patterns,
coverlets could be sewn together
to make larger ones.
Did you know weavers of their time
were men only?
Again so sorry for the poor pic.
While working at the gift shop
this weekend,
in between customers,
I was able to hook some small
Autumn items which will be sold
at the store.
Will show you once steamed,
binded and put together.
Wonderful Autumn colors!
Well off to the back room
to go to work.
Happy first day of June!
Pre Summer Blessings To All!
Janice
Hi Janice, I like seeing your antiques. So good that your shop is coming back. Blessings, xoxo, Susie
ReplyDeleteThank you Susie! Janice
DeleteCongrats on customers returning! Your pics are lovely and inviting
ReplyDeleteThanks a bunch! Janice
DeleteSo happy to hear the stores did great!!! May it continue ;)
ReplyDeleteYes fingers crossed it does. Janice
DeleteLove the re-do Janice. So happy for you that your stores did so well.
ReplyDeleteThanks Janet. We are glad too as it was difficult for us to be closed for months. Janice
DeleteI am thrilled to hear that your stores did well!!! I fiugred most of these shops that have been closed would have a booming business when opened!! Love your large crock in your bedroom!
ReplyDeleteWe just hope it continues for everyone. It has been so hard on small businesses. Janice
DeleteI'm glad for you that the stores are doing well. It's lovely that the customers are so happy to return after such a long absence. A bit of normalcy is wonderful.
ReplyDeleteI just love that beautiful antique horse and the teddy bear and doll in that chair.
Hugs, Julia
I do cherish my horses. I purchased the teddy from a friend who no longer wanted it. The chair another friend made for me. Both loved. Janice
DeleteLove your beautiful horse! I have an area in my house where I can't get a photo no matter the time of day or the weather...It's looking out on windows like yours are. Glad to hear it was a good weekend at the shops...hope the latest state of things doesn't impact you negatively. Such scary times.... ~Robin~ (PS...I have no way to respond to your comments on my blog posts and for some reason, I don't get an email notification so I can't respond in that manner either.... I am not ignoring you LOL...Anyways, the mermaid pattern did not come with the fabric, but the designer had the linen specially printed for the pattern and made it available for purchase. It was too perfect not to purchase it LOL)
ReplyDeleteYes not sure why you no longer see my comments. Blogger is pretentious. The linen makes your mermaid stitchers just perfect! We just hope store sales continue for all small businesses. It has been hard on everyone. Janice
DeleteOh, for the love of a horse...especially this one! How I would enjoy seeing this gorgeous room for real!
ReplyDeleteYes I no longer have my own horses to ride so having these antique ones are the next best thing. Janice
DeleteThe rocking horse reminded me of my childhood who had fallen down because I was very excited to ride it 😅.
ReplyDeleteDecor your house nice, look hommy.
Greetings from Indonesia.
What a find memory. Janice
DeleteHi Janice,

Thank you Julie! We are hoping things continue to move forward for all small businesses. It’s been hard on so many. Hope you have a great week too! Janice
DeleteI'm so glad the weekend went well for you. And I love the bedroom, Janice. Quite perfect!
ReplyDeleteThank you Jeanie! I am already adding a bit of July 4th in there now. Janice
