My Sidekick

Well looks like I forgot to show two more
items I purchased on the antique trail.
Realized it after I hit publish.
Oh well...now they get their own post. LOL

I found this rather odd looking table,
and thought hmmm it may just fit
next to my chair where I stitch.
Bob thinks it may have been a telephone
table at one time because it has an opening
on the side next to the chair...
possibly for a phone book.
Remember those?

I also found this very old
wrought iron candlestick.
Placed here next to the feed sack I draped
over the table.

The feedsack will protect the table
when I have a drink in my glass.

Plus there is room for my floss ring and scissors
when I stitch.
A perfect side kick for me.

In  other news,
it's suppose to be a nice day on the cool side.
Therefore am going to make a pot of chili
with some crusty bread.

Will do my usual house cleaning and laundry.
I sweep weekly and Tundra is shedding big time.
Looks like I have another puppy with all of the hair.
Also the trees are already starting to turn colors.
Me thinks Autumn is arriving before it does
on the calendar.

Well off to make us some breakfast.
Have a marvelous weekend my friends!

Janice

  2. A great side table for your handiwork and if you have unexpected company you can put everything in the side opening. Great purchase.

  3. It could very well be a telephone table. Funny, my 23 year old grandson has NO idea what a phone book even is.
Chili sounds great - no fall here yet tho. Glad you do.

  4. The table is perfect for your stitching! I like the candlestand too.
Yes, it really is starting to feel like Fall.

  5. Love it! That table couldn't be more perfect for a stitcher! Room to stash your pattern and what-nots in out of sight. The area by my stitching chair is a hot mess. I do have an old magazine table next to it but, yikes, it just doesn't stay neat and tidy, nor organized. Chili sounds great - yes, a cool day here too. Like Dicky B said, we had frost. I have a wedding so no chili or stitching for me. Rats. ~Robin~

  7. Looks like the perfect stitching table. You find the best antiques. I also have what I believe to be a vintage telephone table...but totally different than yours.
Dogs do have a way of leaving themselves behind, don't they ... lol?

  8. I have a thing for side tables - I just no longer have the room. Phone books = booster seat when we’d visit the Grandparents.
We still receive a very thin phone book, mostly yellow pages. My husband refuses to use the internet to look up a business
so he uses the phone book which doesn’t list as many businesses so I end up looking on the internet!
It might have been a good idea to save one of those big phone books to look back on.

  15. Your table is just perfect for your stitching. I never saw one like that before.

We had an early spring and I've predicted an early fall and our trees have already started to change earlier than usual, it seems. I'm welcoming the fall as I'm exhausted of harvesting a super abundant and endless crop of cucumbers this summer. Picking and washing and bagging cucumbers for the Food Bank every other day has quite a challenge, not to mention the pickling.

    Take care, hugs.

  17. Hi, I am shedding too. Ha ha!
    I love the candle-stand.
I also agree, Autumn is coming early. Our trees are turning color already too.
