Remembering 9/11

 Hello friends.
Today I wanted to reflect on
that fateful day that took so many lives.

I was at work and was told by my boss
to sign onto CNN because a plane had
hit the twin tower.
At the time we thought it was just
 a terrible accident.
Then the unthinkable happened.
Another plane flew into the other tower.

What would happen next?
Living here in Michigan,
we were worried the Sears Tower (Willis Tower)
would be next.

Then another plane flies into the Pentagon.
More lives lost.

Last but not least, those brave
passengers who thwarted the final plane
into a field in PA.
They knew this plane was intended
to fly into another building.
Heroes for saving others from being killed.

The weeks after this dark day in our history,
we banded together as a Nation.
I remember Firefighters and Police Officers
at certain intersections with cans for donations.

I remember cars honking at them in respect.
I remember most everyone putting money in.
I remember everyone feeling more Patriotic.
I remember everyone saying our
Firefighters and Police Officer were all heroes.
I remember Lee Greenwood's song
Proud to be an American
being played on all radio stations.
I remember our Canadian friends who
allowed one of our planes to land in
their small town and provided food and
accommodations to complete strangers.

Now 20 years later,
it seems we are less Patriotic.
We hate our Police.
There are those who riot in the name of BLM.
What has happened to us?

Do we need another tragic event to
bring us all back together?
I sure hope not.

I ask you all who are reading this,
to take a moment and reflect on all
who lost their lives 20 years ago.
May their lives not be lost in vain.

Remembering 9/11 Blessings To All!
Janice

  1. I couldn't have said or typed it better and remember all those feelings of pride in the first responders, military and particularly in the USA too. My personal feeling is that political correctness, cancel culture and near marxism politics happened. JMHO

  2. It's a moment I'll never forget. Evil was unleashed full force that day and nothing ever was the same again, even for us Canadians.
This evil continues to spread it tentacles in every aspect of our lives and we need God's grace to rescue us.

I've been watching TV this morning, something I seldom do lately since there's nothing good on it anymore.

    Hugs, Julia

  3. Beautiful post today. You exactly have captured my feelings! I fear so much for our country. Enemies without, enemies within. Patriotism considered bad and punishable. God have mercy, Christ have mercy.

  5. wonderful words, thank you for writing what I've been thinking. My daughter was only a year old, and I remember watching the news coverage...as the video played, she kept saying "Plane go boom." The comments above are spot on...I couldn't agree more.

  6. I have many memories of that day. One of those historic times where you will always remember where you were and what you were doing and I will never forget the heroes and victims of that day. I agree that so much has changed in the last 20yrs. I do hope that there are many good things going on in the world that the TV and news doesn't cover because it's not dramatic enough. Yes, we should all remember that day and try our best to make these days better.

  7. I thank you Janice for writing this. I agree with you, what has happened to us as a country.

I am praying for our Nation. I am praying for the families of 9/11.

Last summer during the riots in Kenosha, Wisconsin, while the National Guard stood guard in front of a historic building, keeping it safe from looters, and fire.. the rioters tossed human poop, frozen water bottles and more at them.
It broke my heart. The Guard where on duty to help the community. This was how they were treated.. so sad.

  8. Beautifully said Janice. The song "Have You Forgotten?" has been running through my head all day.... It seems we have so very quickly forgotten the tragic lessons of that day and the comfort that unity brought us. I pray everyday for this country...this world...we find ourselves now in. ~Robin!

  10. I thought Covid would pull us together. It only seems to have pulled us apart. I don't think anyone who lived at that time will ever forget it.

  11. Very well said. I will never forget that day as I only worked about 25 miles from Washington DC and we had employees who traveled to the Pentagon on a regular basis. Thankfully, no one I know personally was killed. Such a horrible, scary and tragic day for our Country. It is hard to believe that in 20 years we have come to this. I don't understand all those "Americans" who hate our country. God help us and God Bless America!
