Gobble Gobble

Oh my friends what a trying

3 days it has been with no internet service.

It's like taking candy away from a baby.

For 3 days either Bob or I have been on the phone.

After many lies of being told a tech person

had already came out,

we are finally back up and running.

One good thing,

I have now reduced my cable bill by $50 per month.

Bob will be happy when he hears.

So onto my post which I wanted to do

 before I lost service.

I have wanted to make myself a turkey

for awhile now.

So I drew this up and made it.

Don't you just love

how his butt curls up at the end.

When I created him last Sunday,

I was watching my taped shows with a candle lit.

This one is pumpkin apple.

Perfect for this season and smells wonderful!

This prim fella will be making another

appearance with my upcoming

CupboardScape.

Well time to eat dinner,

and then catch up on my blog reading.

Glad to be back with you all again!

Let's Talk Salt

Happy Autumn Sunday!
I am so blessed to have friends
such as yourself that enjoy my humble blog.
Although this time I did not comment back
to your sweet comments, I do so enjoy reading them.
I usually do comment back on those posts.

Our prim show yesterday was a success!
However on the way home we had
a slight mishap.
A lady kept honking her horn at us.
I finally realized
she was trying to get our attention.
I rolled my window down and she yelled
that the back doors to our cargo van were open.
Bob immediately pulled over.
Another man stopped behind us.
He came out of his car holding our suitcase.
What wonderful good samaritans.
We did however lose $30 worth of goodies.
It was getting too dark to turn around to go look.
They were not antiques, but prim goodies
that my friend Ruth makes.
I will just have to purchase more from her.

Bob still does not know how the doors came open.
All I know God was with us.
We could have lost much more.

Today I want to talk about salt.

Salt was very important
to the early colonists and pioneers.

It was used to preserve the precious meat
that would be hung in smoke houses
during the Winter months.

This unusual item is a salter.

Used to hold salt.

The salt would be placed in these

 two compartments.

The lids would be turned to cover them

when not in use.

What makes this salter extra special,

it was carved from one piece of wood.

The carver of this beauty

was very good at his trade.

I wonder how long it took him

to make this item?

Especially since this piece

was a necessity for that time.

I so love the patina of this piece.

Although not a desk item,

I thought it looked good here for now.

A very unusual piece.

Today I am off to do laundry.

FIL is coming over for dinner later.

Pork roast with all of the fixins.

Will also be working on a something for myself...

which I cannot say right now.

Then if time permits,

will start decorating my corn cob tree

 for the Holidays.

What will you be doing today?

Salter Blessings to All!

A Hall For Fall

Autumn Greetings My Friends!
Well Fall is in full swing here
in Michigan.
The leaves are just starting to show there
true colors of red, orange and gold,
before turning brown.

Just a subtle transition from Summer
 to Fall in our hall.

Can you see the change
between the two pictures?

The crocks are now behind the chair,
with this bowl full of artichokes,
a white pumpkin and this
School reader in black and orange.

I love living here by the state land and river.
Always lots of waterfowl and wildlife galore.
Yesterday walking out the door to go to work,
a beautiful red fox was trotting
 down my neighbors driveway.
He stopped at the street to look at me,
then trotted down the road a bit before
going into the woods.
The other night the coyotes were howling.
Plus my son got a tad scared Monday at dusk.
He went to put the garbage
into one of our empty cans.
Lo and behold an opossum hissed at him.
It must have got stuck at the bottom somehow.
I took a broomstick and knocked over
the can so he could walk away.
Like I said wildlife galore around here.

What kind of wildlike to have where you live?

Tomorrow Bob and I are headed
to Breckenridge, MI to do a prim show Saturday.
My son will be holding down the fort here at home.
We have new prims that we have hoarded away
like squirrels...and I am hoping to find my
birthday and Christmas presents there.
Bob said to buy something for myself.
Thank you sweetie!
I know I have a budget. :-)

Well off to work.
Hope you all have a fabulous Autumn weekend.
It is supposed to snow this weekend here.
UGH.
Time to get out the Winter coat and gloves.

Autumn Snippets

Morning folks!
Hope your weekend was what you wanted it to be!
Mine was a busy one.
I worked the store with my son on Saturday
as we had our antique show was going on in town.
Bob was the promoter.
Bob and I again
worked the store together yesterday.
We took all of the Halloween decor down
in between customers.
Plus I am happy to report,
no other ghostly incidents.

Today I just wanted to show you
a few of my Autumn displays.

Even with the extra hour of sleep,

I am still tired.

Do you wish they would stop the time changes?

Falling In Love With Fall

Trick or Treating was a success!
We had 220 kiddos that received a coupon,
along with 2 pieces of candy each.
(their choice)

We had our own ghost stories to tell that night.
For those new to my blog,
we own an antique store with
an old fashioned candy section
along with new candy inside.

It was around 6:30pm.
I needed to to use the bathroom.
I have never felt so cold in my entire time
in the 8 years of having the store.
I felt cold as soon as I reached the bathroom,
and the cold air followed me into the bathroom.
{Yikes I felt a spirit}

Right after, Bob needed to use the bathroom.
He came back outside
where we were passing out candy...
you could say...
he was white as a ghost.
He told me as soon as he reached the bathroom,
he heard 2 men talking.
{Yikes he heard the spirits}
Now I feel violated.
{Someone was in the bathroom with me}

We catch orbs each year on our cameras~
always more than most
between September and November.
Was told by paranormal folks that
this time of year the Earth's crust is thinner,
which allows spirits to return.
Return they do.

Do you have any ghost stories to tell?

So back to my post.

Autumn is truly my favorite time of year.

Love the vibrant colors,

of Autumn leaves and oh yes

Pumpkins please. :-)

Autumn colors were my part

 of my inspiration

 for my latest hooking project.

Being an artist,

blues and oranges

 always compliment each other.

{I had to learn the color wheel in school}

This buttocks basket was

the second part for my inspiration.

5 different shades of blue wool were used.

2 shades of orange.

4 shades of brown.

Plus a limey green and yellow.

Where's the yellow Janice?

The first 2 pics are the true colors

of this rug.

Bittersweet is my favorite Autumn vine.

That's the yellow.

Here is the partly finished rug.

Need to steam and put a backing on.

{{ not sure where that shadow came from }}

Don't fret...

I will be featuring this rug again on

my November CupboardScape.

Cannot wait to show you what I have planned

for this month.

October CupboardScape

Enchantress

Conjurer

Witchery

I found these witch images

doing a Google search.

I printed them on a tan cardstock.

Added some orange/white

bakers twine to each

for my primitive corn tree.

Added the witch images,

along with some orange and black candies.

I made these years ago.

If you have not realized it by now,

this CupboardScape is all about

Halloween Femme Fatale Sirens.

View of tree.

Vintage Fortune Teller card,

with sage in a medicine bottle.

An OLM prim doll.

I added the hat to make her into a witch.

One of my witches I made this year.

Side view.

Another side.

Night time views.

I so loved putting this

Halloween CupboardScape together.

I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did.

Tomorrow night Bob and will do our traditional

Halloween of passing candy out

to the children in town.

This year we will also be providing the first 200

dressed up kiddies along with candy,

a Halloween ticket which will be good

for $1.00 in free candy.

We have been so blessed.

What will you be doing on Halloween?

My Halloween Wish

The weekend is here.

A wet cold Autumn day today.

Wind is light,

however the other morning

we had dangerous fog here by the river.

As soon as I opened the door to go to work....

it was like walking into a dark cave

with no sense of where you were going.

I could not even see our vehicles in the drive

from the porch.

It was a slow cautious drive along the river

for the first 15 minutes of my drive to work.

You could not even see a car coming at you

until it was almost up on you,

It was that bad.

Never seen it that foggy since I have lived here.

So my Halloween wish finally came true.

I have only been asking for this now

for 3 years.

I shucked 21 ears of field corn.

I marked all of areas

where I needed Bob to drill a hole.

He drilled the ears of corn too.

I put it together with pieces of 1/4 inch dowel,

and gorilla glued to the wood piece.

Each of the last 3 years I have asked Bob

to make me a prim tree.

Finally after weeks of nagging at him,

that I wanted it done this year....

I finally got my wish!

It is prim perfect!

Thank you sweetie for giving me my

H A L L O W E E N

W I S H

Have you ever wanted something so bad...

that you nagged for it?

I am not ashamed to nag about this beauty.

Wait to see what I do with it for my

Halloween CupboardScape!

Hope you enjoy this bewitching

pre Halloween weekend!

Conjure up something you desire!

Halloween Wish Blessings To All!
