Hello my friends!
Hope all is well in your neck of the woods.
First today I wanted to show you my
Spring Mantles.
Hope you enjoy the pics.
My one lone yellow tulip.
Honeysuckle for the hummingbirds.
Kiwi vine for color.
The leaves turn to white around the edges
and then pink in the middle.
Our only tree in our yard.
This flowering pear.
Bob cleaned up under the wagon...
and forgot that was where our blackberries were.
Oh well no blackberries this year.
He also cleaned up this bed and mulched.
Not sure what shrubs I will plant in here now,
but I want some that flower.
Finally our evergreen Lilac shrubs.
These bloom constantly all Summer long,
and smell just like normal lilacs.
In other news,
on Tuesday President Trump came to Michigan.
He announced that they will keep
our air national guard base open...
and also bring in 21 new jets and tankers.
We are so thankful that our governor
put politics aside and went to visit him
to fight and keep
Selfridge Air National Guard Base
open...because President Biden had slated
it for closure.
I know this because someone
who works at Selfridge told me so.
It had also been on our local news last year.
I drive by this base every time I go to work.
I sometimes see the jets and the planes
take off and land. Also this base is home
to our Coast Guard helicopters.
These are so needed in our area because
of us being surrounded by water...
and they go to all water emergencies...
even to take someone off a freighter who
has a medical emergency.
I left at noon to avoid the closure of the road I take.
So glad I did, because after his speech
at the base, the motorcade went over to
Macomb Community College...
which would have caused another traffic
jam for me.
Anyways saving the base will be good
for the economy in the area.
They even put a big billboard just outside
of the base saying...
Thank you Governor Whitmer for saving
Selfridge Air National Guard Base.
Driving through the marsh now,
the lily pads are sprouting up.
Soon the yellow and white flowers will appear.
The egrets are back now.
No baby signets (swans) yet.
The one nest I can see from the road
still has mama sitting on it.
Well have to get to work.
Hope everyone enjoys their upcoming weekend.
Spring Has Sprung Blessings To All

Gretchen went to bat for that and she did well. LOVE that piece of the hare over your mantel -- that's a gem. And all the bunnies for that matter! The flowering tree is a gem. They're peaking right now and gorgeous for it.
ReplyDeleteYeah, how about that Whitmer; wasn't hiding behind blue folders at that photo shoot. Thank you President Trump for saving your base!.
ReplyDeleteI always enjoy seeing your decor, you really have a great eye for things. Spring is beautiful inside and outside your home.
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad the base is staying open!
Oh your crocks make my heart skip a beat!
ReplyDeleteYour mantles are perfection as always ♥️
Great news about the Air National Guard Base, but Whitmer gets the credit and not Trump? Gee…I wonder who paid for the billboard.
Of course forgot to add Rugs and Pugs 😉
DeleteHi, love the bunnies and touches of blue. :-)
ReplyDeleteI am happy to hear the good news regarding the Air National Guard Base.
Whitmer, well she is an interesting Gal.
Thank you to President Trump!!!

Love your crocks!!
ReplyDeleteNice to see spring as come to you too. :)
Those crocks, those crocks, those glorious crocks! They've distracted me from everything else in your post (almost). Your spring is quite ahead of ours (as is everyone else's apparently). My tulips just poked through the grounds a few weeks ago and it will be a while for blooms. No daffies yet either. Someone said next week it will warm up so maybe things will pop then. Are your evergreen lilacs the same as California lilacs? If so, I don't believe they tolerate our zone...if not, I'm not familiar with them?? I love lilacs and how wonderful it would be to have some all summer long. I'm happy for the base. A win for everyone. Happy weekend-to-be.
ReplyDeleteGood news that the air national guard base is staying open. I am always sad when military bases close.
ReplyDeleteI like the quote on your framed piece -
Beautiful post That is how our government used to work-working together for the good of our nation-We watched his speeches that day. Glad Trump and your governor saved the base Happy Friday and weekend
ReplyDeleteyour mantle is wonderful! your gardens are coming right along lots of work cleaning out and replanting.
