Sunday Starts

Hope everyone is enjoying their weekend.

My first start for May was
Summer Refreshes by
Summer House Stitch Workers.

You may remember Spring Awakens.
This one I stitched last year.
Once again I have all 4 seasons...
and only stitched the Spring one thus far.

I am not much of a green person,
so I chose these three colors.
A more muted red and blue and gray.

Thunderbird (gray)...
my original color I chose did not show up.
Opted then for Uniform Blue.
It is a grayish blue color.
This is stitching up pretty quickly.
Almost halfway done now.

Am still on the strawberry mood,
but also getting the itch for some patriotic.

This is a Stacy Nash pattern.
Strawberry Basket Sewing Tray.

Stitching this on 32 ct Flax.
I will be making this into a pillow
once finished.

Then I started Alpha Berries
by Erica Michaels.

Am doing the cursive one first.
Cranberry floss used.

Finally

Strawberry House by
The Scarlett House

My one day start.
Doing this on 32 ct
One More Reproduction linen.
Not sure if I should do the actual house
in parchment or change to a blue.
What do you all think?

In other news,
Bob's procedure went well.
After surgery the doctor asked Bob
how he felt.
His response was "I feel lighter",
which made the doctor laugh.

The weather here has been cold,
damp and even rainy.
The furnace keeps kicking on.
We have been putting fires in our
fireplace to take the chill off somewhat.
Definitely not the Spring I thought
 it would be this far,

Both my mom and I are feeling better.
Thank you for the well wishes.

Sadly the swan family does not have
a family anymore.
It went from five to three.
Then the other day none.
Me suspects the snapping turtles
may have gotten them,
as there are quite a lot in the marsh.
Or it could have been an eagle or even an owl.
Just sad that none are left to watch grow up.

Well tomorrow is Memorial Day.
Please take some time to remember why
we have this holiday.
It is not all about the BBQ's and picnics.
It is a day to remember our fallen soldiers
throughout the years.
Without their sacrifice we would not be free,
Freedom should not be taken for granted.

Sunday Blessings To All!
Janice

  1. I love that sewing tray so sweet your working is wonderful. We are cold and damp with the fireplace most every night and I turned the heat on this morning. So darn sick of this weather. improvement next week some but still some rain coming in. I do think I see a pattern for summer sadly.

  2. I like the colors you chose for Summer Refreshes. I like the Parchment house in the original color, I wonder if you change it to blue, if the roof and house would blend together?
Glad you and your mom are doing better! It really has been a cold, damp Spring. The sun is shining here today though!

Glad you and your mom and husband feel better.
I can't believe you still have the heater on!

  5. All of your starts look wonderful! Love them all!! Your changes to the colors of Summer Refreshes are spot-on perfect. And I have always loved Strawberry House. I so wished I could stitch even 1/10th as fast as you. I really do think I'd stick with the Parchment for the house. Glad both you and your mum are on the mend. Still cold here as well and we had rain again yesterday even though there wasn't any in the forecast. And, happy it was just rain...not snow which we've had other Memorial Days. Oh...and we were down to 31ยบ last night. Grrr...Brrr....

  6. Good morning, I love seeing your stitches. Same here with the little ducks and geese-starts out with many - so cute-and then none or just a couple.
Over the years we always had a quiet Memorial Day-no huge bbq"s etc. When we lived closer to home I would place flowers on the family graves.
Here we are very cold with rain-If the woodstove here was fixed-needs new piping in the chimney-I would have made a fire for sure-was tempted to turn the heat on but I used my heating pad instead. We have been in the low 50's for three days in a row now.
Glad your husand;s operation went well Hugs

  9. I'm so glad Bob is doing well. I love your spring piece and cannot wait to see that gorgeous summer come into being. Pity about the swans. I hate when that happens.

  11. So sad about the swans. Nature can be cruel as well as beautiful. I'm glad Bob is doing well. Your stitching, as always, is lovely! Yes, Memorial Day is more than picnics and the beginning of summer. I'm so grateful for all who have served and who serve in the military today. Have a good week Janice!
