Hello friends.
With July 4th sneaking up upon us,
I thought I would share this Uncle Sam I created.
His scarf is red, off white and blue wool strips.
A gold star on his shirt.
I also gave him a flower boutonniere made from wool.
Am looking forward to decorating for this season!
Do you decorate for July 4th?
Any plans for your weekend?
Sam Blessings To All!
Janice
I used to go way out for every holiday of the year. Now I just put out a favorite hooked rug or two and maybe a doll (if I still have one for the season) and a wreath or something on the front door. Think I do still have an Uncle Sam.
ReplyDeleteWell I am going to try hard and decorate lots this year...at least a couple rooms. Janice
DeleteCute Uncle Sam! I think I have some of that blue fabric.
ReplyDeleteNo, I don't decorate for the 4th. I do have a small patriotic display that stays up all year. Maybe I should venture to the attic and see what I do have once before it gets too hot again next week.
I just bought that fabric at Joann's on sale this year. How nice to keep a display up year round. Janice
DeleteSweet Sam Janice.... Yes....and no...on the decorating for the 4th. Like, Saundra, I used to go all out each and every holiday. It got to be too much. I was barely done putting away one holiday and another was upon me. (Because, of course, I overdue things and it looked like that particular holiday threw up all over the place.) So then I started eliminating holidays... Now I only do Valentines, Easter, the 4th, Halloween (YES!) and Christmas. However, in the past years, many of those holidays have come and gone and I have not decorated one whit. IF I decorate for the 4th, I like to start so it's up for Memorial Day and Flag Day as well.... So far, I didn't make it. ~Robin~
ReplyDeleteI actually did start to decorate for the 4th this year. Decided to do a few rooms. Hope you get the chance to put up a few too! Janice
DeleteYour Uncle Sam looks very patriotic. I used to decorate for special holidays but now, I don't do much decorating. Since covid, I stopped decorating. Like Saundra, I'll put a wreath on the door. It's hard to put my heart into decorating when the world is upside-down.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your decorating and have a great weekend.
Hugs,
Julia
Thanks Julie. Do you do anything for Canada Day? Janice
DeleteAnother great prim "doll" you always show such attention to detail. We were going to mulch around the raised beds and such today, but it's a washout all day. We do need the rain, so we can mulch another day.
ReplyDeleteThanks Jacky! I am very proud of the Halloween goodies I have currently made thus far. Will show in upcoming months. Hopefully you got that much needed rain. We are getting tired of it over here. More on tap tonight. Janice
DeleteYou've followed my blog long enough to know I do decorate for all holidays and July 4th is no exception. I get out the patriotic decor for Memorial Day and it stays up until Labor Day. I love your Uncle Sam doll...so cute. I have a wooden Uncle Sam that's about 3ft tall made by a local artist. I've had him at least 30yrs and he used to be outdoors but I keep him inside to keep him from deteriorating. The artist has since passed away but I will always have his fun work. Have a good weekend. Our weekends are still filled with outdoor work and a few graduation parties. Not sure if we will do anything great on the 4th. Time will tell I guess!
ReplyDeleteYep cannot wait to see your displays! How nice to have something made by a local artist. Janice
DeleteSaundra, I purchased one of your Uncle Sam dolls, The Patriot, in 2008. He proudly sits on a bench in our living room from June to September when I bring out our summer patriotic decor. Your work is wonderful! Shared him on my Instagram account today @sjpa48.
ReplyDeleteHow nice you have one of Saundra's dolls! Janice
DeleteI see that I had clicked over to a new blog from Saundra's. Love your Uncle Sam doll. My doll is by Woodland Junction Primitives.
ReplyDeleteThanks a bunch! Janice
DeleteHello, I love your Uncle Sam. I am a fan of decorating for the 4th of July. We also have a big celebration. I make red, white and blue treats. ;-) Pretzels dipped in white chocolate with red, white and blue sprinkles are an annual at our party.

Thanks Carla! Pretzels sound yummy too. I use to do that with toasted marshmallows. Janice
DeleteOh I love the 4th...my favorite colors! And that Uncle Sam is brilliant...such creative talent you have. And you've inspired me...my little blue cupboard is set up for summer and the 4th...simple but a lot of fun to change with the holidays. Mary
ReplyDeletePlease do share a pic of what you displayed for the Summer and 4th! Janice
