Hello friends!
With this last post of February,
this post will show a few of my Valentine displays.
Better late than never.
A few hearts on my early leather books.
A few of my teddies got into the action.
Some with hearts.
One on top of a wreath.
I apologize for the glare by the teddies nose.
I purchased these beige hooked hearts
before I learned how to hook.
Unfortunately Tundra thought the third one was his.
I could not fix it.
My first display.
More red.
Second display.
I stitched this pillow with wool on blue ticking
years ago now.
Just a bit of Valentine's in my kitchen.
Added these old red cookie cutters I had
and red floral plates.
Changed up my pitchers to blue spongeware
and white ones.
Now for an update on my Dancing Rabbit.
Am loving hooking this!
I feel like dancing myself!
Now most of you know I cut my worms by hand.
Just like our foremothers did.
So it takes me a bit longer,
and my worms are not all the same size.
I would rather cut worms, than bind.
This was my choice of wool for my second rabbit.
It does have a bit of purple in it, but not much.
In person you cannot tell it at all once hooked in.
Still debating on my background color.
I keep going back and forth.
Red or blue.
Blue or red.
Then what color blue or red.
Decisions Decisions Decisions.
Not even sure if I want to use green for grass.
Most of you know green is not a favorite
color of mine....except for floral greens.
Anyways,
make sure you visit Saundra's blog
(Woodland Junction)
to see more Dancing Rabbits.
Everyone is doing a fantastic job!
In other news.
Our next door neighbors dog was attacked
by a coyote the other night.
We do not talk to this neighbor.
They rent the house and keep to themselves.
They have never been friendly.
We heard about it from another neighbor.
They must talk to her.
Even though we have a fenced in backyard,
we do keep Tundra in at night.
Bob has been turning the outside light on
now in the mornings just in case,
and watches out the window.
We live one house away to 1450 acres of state land.
We know the coyotes are out there.
This is the first time since living here
for 20 years that one has been this close
to houses.
I have seen fox, deer and turkeys in our front yard.
Never a coyote.
Well you know what I will be doing this weekend.
Tundra and I are off to Tim Horton's now,
for my bagel and his Timbit.
Maybe we will see an eagle along the river,
as the ducks are North of us in open water.
Too much ice near us to see any.
Just got notification that the ferry
to the main island here will be shutting down
sometime this afternoon.
That means more ice is coming down.
What are your plans for the weekend?
End Of February Blessings To All!
Janice
It's mating season for the coyotes that could be why. We had a coyote hunter stop to hunt our property and told us that. We hear them run the creek/stream that boarders our property...the yelps are hair raising...our dogs hide...
ReplyDeleteWell, we are finishing up an estate today...the garage stuff...not my favorite...can I skip to the good part ahahah
Thanks for letting me know. I did hear that a few times now. Hopefully they will go back into the state land. They might be drawn to our neighbors yard because he keeps his trash out for weeks in his yard. Just stupid. Never had a coyote problem before. Janice
DeleteAlways such pretty inspiration...thank you! We often hear coyotes in the woods, but I've only seen one in the yard once-years ago. One evening recently we heard them in the field across from the house...so very close, it's a bit unsettling. Pretty colors for the dancing rabbits, such fun! Maybe grass in a blue/green might work if you're not a fan of green. Can't wait to see it done! Mry
ReplyDeleteThanks Mary! Update on dancing rabbits tomorrow. Having fun hooking this. Janice
DeleteWell it is still February so hearts are still appropriate in my book. Coyotes get HUGE and such a shame that even tho the neighbors aren't friendly it is terrible about the dog. Hope he survives. Take care of Tundra and yourselves.
ReplyDeleteSince we dont talk to these neighbors, not sure about their dog. I do feel bad for the dog though. We will take care of our precious Tundra even if he is a stinker at times. Janice
DeleteHaving coyotes so close to your house must be a bit unsettling. I've had a fox in my driveway who just looked at me when I tried to chase it away. he didn't seemed to be afraid of me and he was much smaller than a coyote.
ReplyDeleteYou are like me, too busy to post in real time, lol... Better late than never. Your Valentine decorations are lovely.
The bunny rug hook along is a great diversion for many. It's fun seeing the different way our blogger friends are putting their own takes on it. God bless Saundra for doing this.
I hope Tundra will be safe from predators and that your daughter is feeling much better these days. Talking of days, it only 22 days to spring. This brings a smile on my face.😊
Take care and stay safe and well.
Hugs, Julia
I so love seeing the different renditions of the Dancing Rabbits. They are multiplying over on Saundra's blog. Having the coyote nearby is a bit unsettling. My daughter is feeling better. Thanks for asking. Janice
DeleteLike Saundra says, it's still February so hearts are good...I have mine up too. Well, what I put out. I love that appliqued heart you did on the ticking. Beautiful! And that red sampler...Gah!! Gorgeous!!! We have coyotes all over it seems. There's an alpaca farm kitty corner from our property up the hill and they have guard dogs to protect them...but then the coyotes come down the hill and follow the creek right to us. When we had Gazoo, our little Shih Tzu, I was afraid he was going to be snatched up so watched him like a hawk. Snowdog, until recently, could hold his own I think... I just hate when then come right up by the house...and it seems they, like the wolves, and mountain lions, are getting braver and braver. Stay safe and warm...It's sunny, but windy, windy, windy, here....and that always unsettles me. ~Robin~ (PS...I am amazed at how uniform you manage to get your strips cutting them by hand!)
ReplyDeleteWe have always heard the coyotes at a distant. Never this close to the house though. A bit worried even going outside myself now at night. Some of the worms are a bit wonky, but I dont mind cutting them. It relaxes me and makes me think of those who hooked without the fancy cutters. Janice
DeleteJnice, seems like a lot going on around you. It must be very cold! I love that you and Tundra have these coffee dates, it must be a beautiful drive..Stay warm and love your rabbits and that first vignette..Happy Weekend..xxoJudy
ReplyDeleteYes We have our dates, but not hot coffee. I get the flavored iced Capps. Mostly Hazelnut and the Oreo one. More bunnies are coming out with my Spring decor. Janice
DeleteI love all your Valentine displays, but my favorite thing is your redwork sampler!
ReplyDeleteSo scary about the coyote. I live in the city and at times can hear them howling at the train or at police sirens.
Your bunny rug is looking good!
Yes I bought that sampler from an antique friend. She gave me a good deal. Loved it ever since. Janice
DeleteThose coyotes are scary for dogs. We've always gone outdoors with our dogs at night but the last few dogs have been seniors and they wouldn't run at anything but would be easy fodder for an attack. Annabelle is younger and would run at something so again we're out with her. We have coyotes all over around here and even had one come through the yard in the day time. I took my Valentines things down yesterday. I think I will leave it all a bit bare until later in March. I like to decorate for Easter and I love your hooked bunnies! Nice job! This weekend is going fast and today was grocery shopping and we cleaned out our front closet and gathered lots of coats to give away. It feels good to get rid of things! More to come on that front! Have a good Sunday.
ReplyDeleteCoyotes are scary for me too. This is the first time I know of one being this close to our house. I did start my Spring decor. Loving my hooked rug thus far. Janice
DeleteI love your rug and love that you cut by hand! Your hearts are wonderful. there have been a lot of coyotes this year. and it is mating season right now, so they are very vocal they will attack just about anything. The farmer below us has to be careful with his calves in the spring.
ReplyDeleteCathy
Thanks Cathy! I have heard from a few folks now that it is mating season for the coyotes. Yes have to keep those calves safe. Janice
DeleteWhen I was 10 years old my cat, Mustard, was killed by a coyote. I will never forget it.
ReplyDeleteI think having the light on is a good idea.
I enjoyed your Valentine's.
:-)
Oh no. Poor Mustard. Great name for a cat though. Janice
DeleteLove the primitive vignettes, when I was young and lived in Paducah Kentucky My first love in collecting was primitives.
ReplyDeletesorry about the coyotes coming so close to houses
Janice Dauksch
Paducah is prim country. Yes the recent coyote has made me a bit leery going outside at night now myself. Janice
DeleteThanks Debby! Janice
ReplyDeleteThanks! Janice
