One Bowl

 Three Valentine displays.

My head spins at times with all of the ideas
I think of. So much that at times I cannot fall asleep.
This time I had three ideas,
so I thought I would share with you all.

Taking one of my wood bowls.

I took these wood spools from my spare room.

I then wrapped 3 of them using
vintage white & cream lace.
The other 2 were wrapped in red wool worms.
The bright red one was a vintage thread spool
 I already had.
Voila...instant display for Valentine's,
just using the colors of red and white.

Next up, I just placed a bit of faux greens
and red berries and placed this antique
Valentine card on top.

Lastly, I took these antique & vintage buttons
I had in a jar....

added them to the bowl and placed
a velvet heart on top.

I also thought these displays would have
looked good in a white ironstone bowl
instead of a wood bowl.
How pretty it would be.
Alas I dont own any ironstone bowls.
(maybe I need to be on the hunt for one}
Would look good in my bathroom.

Hope you enjoyed my displays.
Do you have any valentine displays
you would like to share?

In other news, looks like we are in for a doozy
of a snowstorm.
Models are showing 10-14 inches.
Bob brought in more wood just in case we
lose power today.
We did lose power for 4 hours this morning.
It was in the wee hours,
so we were still in our cozy bed.
For my friends who are also in the path
of this snowstorm, please stay safe and well.

Welcome to February!

One Bowl Blessings To All!
Janice

  1. Janice you do a fantastic job of visual advertising. You could easily get a job as a store 'window dresser' without a doubt as you have the talent. Hope you Valentine sale does well.

  2. We're in the same snow path and are just going to wait and see what happens. I hope we don't lose power since we don't have a generator and we're an all electric house! We always say we'll get one and then we just haven't...praying for sure! Anyway, I love your ideas! I do have some Valentine decor here and there. I'll probably feature them on my blog soon. Stay safe and warm Janice!

  3. You can take anything and come up with some great ideas for decorations. Sadly, I have only a few valentine decorations and they stay hidden in a drawer.

Take care, stay safe and well. I hope the storm won't be too bad and that you won't loos your power.
    Hugs, Julia

  4. You are a very visual person for sure...I couldn't visualize if my life depended on it. I have to do it and then it comes to me as I go. (Is that considered "flying by the seat of my pants"? LOL). My favorite of the three is the last with the buttons. Love me those old white buttons. Yes, I have a few of my Valentine things out - but no where near what I typically do. In fact, I basically just took out my stitched/hooked/punched things....my molds, cookie cutters, and that's it. Never even opened the totes. And though I had so much else to do, today I just played with paper hearts, etc. all day. What is it about Valentine's Day that brings out my need to play with paper and scissors?? Stay safe and warm....and prayers that you don't lose power. I know those cold hours. Thankfully we have a generator now...and more thankfully, I don't think we are due for any snow until the end of the week. ~Robin~

  5. Hi Janice! Thanks for the pretty inspirations - especially love the bowl of white buttons - so simple and simply beautiful. I hope you all fare okay with the storm. They are predicting an ice storm and snow for us. We went out looking to buy a generator today, but everywhere was sold out! Wish us luck! Jane

  7. My Valentines celebration usually involves making chocolate dipped strawberries. Your creations are beautiful and so calorie-free! We’re to get the storm Friday in Canada. Stay safe

  8. Oh those vintage buttons...sigh! I have some hearts made from old red/white quilt pieces that I set out, along with some pink depression glass. Yes, the storm is headed our way...like you, prepping with extra wood, water, and chainsaw at hand just in case ice causes a problem. While I love the shade of the old maples around the house, they are just that: old, and prone to losing limbs. Stay warm and safe! Mary

  9. Loving the heart in the button bowl. I may have to steal that! It's still coming down here -- small flakes but steady since before I was up. It looks to be around a foot, but I haven't been out!
