Sister Witches

Happy Sunday Friends!
Well this morning is starting
out a rainy one again.

I wanted to show you
the couple of witches I made this year.

I named this one Cora Hemlock.
She was hand stitched.

With her bling around her neck.
Both her good luck key
and pumpkin necklace.

The second with I just called
#1 Hag.
She was also hand stitched.

This year I decided I wanted to create
everything by hand for our show.
It took me longer instead of using my
sewing machine,
but I enjoyed doing it!

I only made one each so they were
OOAK (one of a kind)
Both have already been adopted
when we had our show.

Today I will be working on turkeys again.
Each leg takes me an hour to hand sew.
I am only making 4 and all of the legs
are done now.
Hand stitching the bodies currently.

Dinner later on will be tacos and
street taco sized cheese nachos.

What will you be doing this day
and what will your dinner be?

Sister Witch Blessings To All!
Janice

  1. Handwork is so satisfying! Good for you. Today I will continue stripping paint off my dry sink. Dinner is a big pot of sweet potato soup. Hubby is doing keto so I don’t know what he’s eating😉

  2. First, those witches are so neat! Wonerful job hand sewing and adding such personality. Second, thank you...thank you...I've been around primitive folk art my whole life and have always wondered what OOAK means. I thought it was a special folk art selling group you had to join....ahhahha....I'm literally peeing laughing at myself...One Of A Kind! Well, heck all my art this whole time could have had an OOAK - don't ask how much time I spent looking the meaning and how to join that club....help me Lord

  4. I'm not into primitive Folk Art but I can appreciate all the work that goes into making them by hand. I used to sew dolls when I was younger. I got so much satisfaction of making something with my hands.
Good luck at your sales at the show. I'm sure they will sell quickly as it appears, a lot of people love this kind of prim Folk Art.

    1. Thank you Julia! It is quite relaxing stitching by hand and it gives my items that OOAK feeling instead of using my machine. My sales were good this year. Janice

  8. Hi Janice,
Both of your witch dolls are very sweet and I'm sure they love their new homes! Doing things by hand is so very rewarding!!
I have been making sectioned pumpkins that are very labor intensive but am finally at the "staining and distessing stage" so will be busy with that all day! Then back to punch needle I go!! Dinner will be clam chowder and crusty bread!!
Have fun with those turkeys, my friend!
    Heart Hugs~

  9. Janice your hand sewn witch dolls are adorable! They are certainly making their new adopted home owners happy too. I am excited about the turkeys being made. I am happy I put my order in a long time ago to adopt one!!

Sunday was a hot, hot day, but today, which is Tuesday, brought badly needed rain showers all day long. More is forecast for the next two days as well. We haven't had any rain for over a month and were suffering from a bad drought. I hope we get a lot more before it is all over with because the poor trees have been having a tough time. Their leaves have been hanging limp. Poor Darlin's !
