Fabric Or Wool

Good morning sweet blogging buddies!
I went back to the office yesterday
and we had a heat wave of 17 degrees for our high.
However when I first got in my car the temp read 1 below
and when I arrived to work it was at zero.
I was so bundled up that my co-workers
called me the little Russian Lady.
I don't care as I was warm.

My question to everyone this mornng.
Do you prefer fabric or wool?
Or maybe a little bit of both?

For my next project,
I have decided to use both.

Fabrics I chose.
Muted browns, yellow and a bit of red.

Wool choices.
Gold, brown, green and blue.

In addition
This pile of muslin scraps.

Fabric pieces sewn together and aged.

What are you creating now Janice?

I am looking for an online source for another wool project I have planned.
Please let me know were you all find your wool.
Trace from Granny Trace Scraps and Squares Blog finds her wool
on Ebay and looks for the Frugal  Hooker.

Stay tuned....

Fabric and Woolie Blessings To All!
A lit bit of Granny Trace came out there.
She soooo loves WOOL!!!
Keep warm my friends.

Antique Bed Dilemma

Good morning dear sweet friends.
Hope everyone is doing good.
This morning we are having record low temps here in
my neck of the woods in Michigan.
13 below zero is the actual temp. BRRR
I will be working from home again,
so thankfully I do not have to go outside.

Our new year is starting out with a set back.
At the present moment,
Bob and I have an antique bed dilemma.

We purchased this wonderful bed from a fellow antique friend.

We brought it in from the garage just to have a bed in the bedroom
before we start the re-do.

An early wrought iron beauty.
What do you think?

Yes

Someone painted it brown and yellow,
but the white is coming back through.
Bob wanted to sand it down,
but I like the chippy look.
What do you think?

Now our friend told us the bed was a twin...
Our mattresses are twin.
The bed is a 3/4 one.
See how our twin mattress looks so small inside this bed frame.
YUK YUK YUK

Did I say

YUK

Our perfect bed is no longer perfect to us.
Now we have to educate our friend on what a 3/4 bed is.
Shame on us for not measuring it before we bought it.
3/4 beds were individually made before beds were mass produced.
They are bigger than a twin and smaller than a full.
The usual measurements for these beds are 48' X 72'.
3/4 beds came into style in place of rope beds primarily for comfort,
as they came with wood slats to place your mattress on.
These new modern beds were made until the early 20th century.

Money pit now.

Yes

Do we start over and find another one?

No

We decided to spend the money for the correct mattresses
for our perfect bedroom.
It will have to be ordered, so no bed for now.
Some folks just put a piece of plywood on top,
then add a full mattress on top of the plywood.
However with a twin this is not practical.

Hope we do not have any other problems with our redux.

Crossing my fingers.

I have chosen a color palette of blues, tans and whites.
Still trying to find an old door.
Bob has contacted all of our antique friends to be on the look out.
Wish us luck.

If any of you are in this frigid arctic weather,
please stay warm and cozy inside if you are able too.
It is not fit for man or even pets.

My Sunday Afternoon View

Good afternoon Dear sweet friends.
I am staying put at home today with the snow coming down.
Working on more bunnies.
The snow has been coming down all morning now.
Fine to heavy white stuff and not stopping soon.
Bob decided to close the store for the day
since we are under a Winter storm warning.
He is watching a cop flick in the other room.

Since I am home today
I thought I would give you a peek inside of
what my afternoon view is like in my living room.

Here is a birds eye view...well my view..lol
from my couch.
The chippy off white painted cabinet which our tv sits on.
I keep my stash of wool and fabric in here.
One of my secret spots..I have many more. LOL
A gal cannot have enough fabric I say.
The piece to the left is an early church bench.

Can you tell what I like to watch?
I love old Westerns and Black and white movies.

Ace's newest place to sleep for his afternoon nap.
My 1800 splint wood basket.

Where I sit and work on my crafts.
Big box of Morning Glory stuffing...love this stuff!

Shadow's favorite afternoon spot.

My pick me up drink...ice tea.
To the left some early prim skates and red mitts.

Another view.

A view into our hallway and part of the kitchen.

Hope you enjoyed what I get to look at during my afternoons.

Doing The Bunny Hop

Good morning sweet friends.

With this cold 2 degree below temperature (actual)
and the heavy snow that came down last night,
I decided to work from home today.

River is already also heavy with ice...
which is not so good for the docks.
Freighters are going slow now.
If the ice continues to jam up,
they may get stuck in the ice.
This happens once in awhile.

During my Christmas vacation I spent most of my time
creating bunnies.
Here is a few of what I did.

My kitchen... work table. LOL

Bunnies holding red tulips.

Miss Esther B
holding a carrot in each arm.

Do you prefer with the button?

Or without?

Our First Day of 2014

Good afternoon dear friends and
Happy 2014!

Bob and I got up early this morning
and decided to re-arrange and add new items to the store.

Come see what we did.

Created a little library.

One of my newest bunnies.
He is holding a red tulip.

Then we decided to add a mini boudoir.

This pine dresser is a late 1800 beauty.

Which another one of my bunnies hopped on.

We sometimes mix prims up with other items.
Gives it that eclectic look.

Then we decided we needed a cozy spot
since it is snowing outside.

The copper pans on the wall are early 1800.
I think it would be so sweet to sit in the rocker and enjoy
the snow falling down near this electric fireplace.

Little bit of kitchen.

Early 1800 dry sink.

Odds and ends.

Duck Decoy, Sad Iron and Travel Bag

Black Bucket, Brown Square Bench and Signs

Early Redware Pitcher, another Street Sign and Mine Sieves

More to do...but no more time.
We want to go home and relax a bit.

What do you think of our first day of work in the new year?
Really it is a labor of love for us.

An Empty Nester

Good morning dear friends.
I want to wish you all a Happy 2014!!
Do you have any New Year plans?

These past few days have been spent making bunnies for our upcoming shows.

Tonight is our annual New Years Eve auction.
Fun times and good food with our antique friends.

My son moved out and Bob and I are once again empty nesters.

So what do you do with an empty out-dated bedroom?
Why you remodel it of course!

This will be my biggest challenge.
What to do with these three windows.
Any suggestions?

Paneled walls...gone.
File cabinet...gone.
Ceiling..gone
Linoleum floors...gone.
Who puts linoleum in their bedroom?
This house was once a summer cottage home.
With the sand from the river,
it was easier to clean.

Bi- fold doors...definitely gone.
What prim bedroom has those?

Our New Year will begin with a major re-do.
I am happy..Bob maybe not so much. LOL

I will keep taking pics of the progress,
so I hope you all stay tuned.

This room will be entirely gutted.

We found the perfect bed already,
and currently trying to find an old door.
You think that being antique dealers we would have some stashed away.
Nope, Bob sold them all recently.

Happy New Year and
Bedroom Redux Blessings To All!

Presents Presents

Good morning sweet friends.
The new year is almost here.

Whew.. where did this year go?

I know I have said this a hundred times or more.
 Hubby Bob is the best!

My birthday was earlier in the month.
December 2nd.

I love bunnies.
Every room of my house has some kind of bunny in it.
Not sure what the attraction is, but I am drawn to them.
Bob knows me pretty good.
This was my birthday present.

A hooked bunny rug.
Woohoo!!!

I tucked this beauty away for a bit.
Bob and I will be doing a project come the first of the year.
This will be part of those plans.
Stay tuned.

Next my Christmas present.
Did I say my hubby was the best!

An early linen sampler.
It has some damage and needs to be professionally framed.
 I love the colors!
Unfortuantely, I do not know the year this was stitched,
as that was part of the damage.
However, it was stitched in December by Mary Catherine Wilson aged 9 years.
Mary Catherine was fromToronto City.
Toronto became a city in 1834, so that is a starting point for me to date this piece.
Will need to do some research.
Even though it has some condition issues.
It still is a beauty to me!!

Living in a small town, I have no idea where to take this,
so if anyone has any ideas on how this should be re-framed,
please let me know.

Sampler Blessings To All!
