Hello Friends!
Today's post will be a little give and take.
I am going to give away something...
and some lucky person will take.
Before I announce my giveaway,
I want to show you where Bob and I
had lunch at last week.
We went to the Raven Cafe.
The entire restaurant is Edgar Allen Poe themed.
Even most of the menu items are named
after Poe's works.
When I worked in Port Huron this was
one of our go spots for lunch.
We went out for lunch every Friday.
My co-workers were the BEST!
We still work together, but unfortunately
no longer at that office.
We all have that long drive to work now.
Anyways, we had hummus with warm pita bread
for an appetizer.
We both had Lobster Bisque.
I was surprised Bob ordered this too.
Usually he gets Chicken Tortilla.
My salad was called the El Dorado.
A chicken Mexican one with chipotle ranch.
Bob's sandwich was called the Venetian,
which is Poe's The Visionary which
Venice is mentioned.
His sandwich was herb crusted chicken
with provolone, red onion, balsamic vinaigrette
on an Italian baguette with roasted red peppers on top.
I only ate half my salad.
Bob and I ate it again that night
with Italian sausage he grilled.
The lower level was already filled at 11:00am
when we got there.
We sat up here on the second floor.
This entire floor has shelves of books on three walls
for all to read.
Leather chairs here for anyone to sit.
A group of folks came in right after I took this pic.
I did not want to take pics of others while there,
as the remainder of this floor was filled,
including the outside patio...
could not believe folks were sitting outside that day.
This is the cafe/ bar area.
Lots of specialty coffee drinks, teas,
frappes and smoothies, along with beer.
They have live music at night when
the younger crowd comes in.
The owners are in their 40's and this
business they created is a good one.
They do have outside seating too,
but it was awful hot that day.
The place gets packed every day for lunch,
which is why we like to be there by 11.
It was packed when we left.
Now for the giveaway.
It's been such a long time since I have had one.
I so appreciate everyone who follows along.
I read all of your comments and sometimes
even more than once.
I may not comment to your blogs daily,
but I do try to when I can.
Maybe once retired, I can post more often....
just too much going on right now.
The back is Onasburg fabric,
along with the front where I attached the other fabric.
Here is a close up.
So if you would like this pillow, here are the rules.
1. You must be a follower.
2. Open to my both my U.S. and Canadian followers.
(Not sure if my Canadian followers
want a US flag though).
3. Please comment using the words ~
"Stars and Stripes"
4. If for some reason you cannot comment,
you may send me an email at
primsbythewater@yahoo.com
I will post the winner on my next post.
Good luck to everyone!
Stars And Stripes Blessings To All!

That café looks so wonderful, what a clever theme! I wonder what they do when it gets closer to Halloween. - I imagine they really have fun tying Poe to some spooky decorations. And you got me on anything patriotic with stars and stripes – count me in! I am now an official follower – although you’re on my list and I can always see when you post, now I’m sure not to miss anything😊. Thanks for sharing your stitching talents with your followers!
ReplyDeleteI'll bet Robin would enjoy the ambiance of the restaurant. Sounds like they have a booming business and lots of returning customers. Obviously the food is good too.
ReplyDeleteSTARS AND STRIPES.
ReplyDeleteHey that restaurant - the food looked really good! I loved that stained glass door. I have never heard of a restaurant using Edgar Allen Poe as a theme - cute.
Sandie
Such a sweet little pillow. I will pass on the give away as I just have too much stuff!!!
ReplyDeleteYou sure did make me hungry talking about what you and Bob had for lunch.
Stars and stripes!!!
ReplyDeleteOh me please that is darling!
How I would love to go to that restaurant. As a teen I was so hooked on Poe I read everything I could find. My mother did not share my enthusiasm for him lol.
Cathy
Saundra is absolutely correct...I know I would LOVE that cafe! How fun! You could find me curled up on one of the leather sofa with a book...for hours. Darling little scrappy pillow tuck. ~Robin~
ReplyDeleteWho wouldn't want to win that little pillow with its Stars and Stripes, reminding us of you every time we see it?
ReplyDeleteThe Edgar Allen Poe Cafe is truly one of a kind. I have a pillow that I crafted using a tea towel, adorned with a Raven and the word "Evermore". I have a fondness for Ravens and often observe them in my neighborhood. They are remarkably intelligent birds.
That looks like such a fun cafe to visit. I'll have to keep it in mind if we get to that area.
ReplyDeleteStars and Stripes - I love it! Thanks for the sweet giveaway. Someone will be happy to get it.
That's a restaurant with lots of ambiance and good food. No wonder it's packed. I would love to sample the food. I'm getting hungry as I look at the food. I'll pass on the pillow and will leave it for my American friends, but thanks for including your Canadian followers. The 4th of July is very close.
ReplyDeleteHugs, Julia

ReplyDeleteI would love to visit the restaurant. Thank you for sharing it with us.

P.S. Stars and Stripes ... You are a special patriotic friend!!! Our Sam and team just returned home from a 5 week training at Fort Polk. He was in The Box ... war games... he messaged me saying 16 days without a shower mom... it felt so good to have a warm shower.
ReplyDelete:-)
Thank you for all the support to our troops and our AMERICA!!! A very special place... a true miracle.
I just pray we can keep it.
Carla
P.S.S. because I goofed up... and did not say stars and stripes in my original post that is alright if I am not entered. Oops on my end.
