Good morning friends!
This mantle display was really my Christmas one.
However with all of the greenery and fruit,
just decided to keep it up a bit longer for Winter.
Each side has boxwood in an urn,
a glass candlestick with red candle
and some stone fruit.
I also added a bottle brush tree to
each of the glass candlestick globes.
Cedar garland underneath.
Looks good for Winter too,
don't ya think?
The stocking is more Christmas themed,
however sine my mom made this for me,
it makes me smile when I look at it.
So it stays too. :-)
I like to do displays for Winter after Christmas.
With the long dark cold nights,
it makes it more cheerier inside
with greens and snowmen throughout.
Do any of you decorate for Winter?
In other news.
We lost my neighbor the other day.
She passed in her sleep at 57. So young.
Then a family member of Bob's passed yesterday.
Am hoping our year gets better.
My daughter thought she was having a stroke.
Her fingers started tingling.
Her lips froze, and then the left side of her
face went numb.
They ruled out the stoke, but then told her it
might be a brain infection.
Hearing that news I lost it.
I cried all night and into the morning.
It wasn't until she called back and said
the MRI found nothing, that they
realized she might be allergic to her meds...
which she was.
Thankfully now she came home last night.
Hopefully now she can heal.
Thank you again for all of your thoughts & prayers.
Winter Mantle Blessings To All!
Janice
Geez that must have been awful to have the false reports about your daughter!!! Whew!
ReplyDeleteThere’s so much heartache around. Your mantle is lovely
Hopefully she is on the road to recovery now. Janice
DeleteOMG Janice your family has dealt with a lot of bad issues for several months and pray this was the last of it. Sorry for the loss of friends and family. Make sure your daughter provides that allergic med name to all doctors she visits.
ReplyDeleteYeah its been a rough couple of months. Hopefully it will get better. Janice
DeleteNo, I don't do any winter decorating. Maybe if I did, the rest of winter would seem a bit less ugh? Come to think of it, Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas are the only holidays/seasons I do decorate for. I don't have anything for the rest of the year, a few bits in the attic that I don't care for any more. Most of it is too cute-sweet for my taste now.
ReplyDeleteSorry for the crappy start to the year for you. Those are some scary symptoms on that allergy for your daughter. I'm glad they figured it out.
Yes I like to keep up the white lights in January. It makes the dark Winter months a bit more cheery. Janice
DeleteOh Janice, I'm glad that they found out that your daughter didn't had an infection in the brain. That is so scary. I can only imagine the state that you were in fearing the worst. I'm glad that she came home. Hopefully she's on her way to full recovery.
ReplyDeleteSo sorry about loosing your neighbour and family member. I hope the rest of January will be kinder to you.
Your winter decor is lovely and brings a little warmth
and cheer in your home. I don't decorate for winter. I just look outside for greenery, lol...
Take care
Hugs, Julia
Yes just not sure they had to mention something to her without knowing exactly what was going wrong. Hopefully things will get better now that she is home. Janice
DeleteI'm so sorry to hear about your daughter and so many losses in your life right now. That's so very hard. I'm glad you have something so beautiful to look at and enjoy as your mantel. It's lovely and I'd leave it up all winter, too.
ReplyDeleteHoping the rest of the year gets better. Janice
DeleteOh my goodness your poor daughter has really been thru so much , pray & hope she won't have any scary issues again . I'm also so sorry to hear you have lost special people in your life .
ReplyDeleteI save all my snowmen for after Cmas & greenery , just makes me feel good too . And lots of Hearts !
Take care .....
Yes she has and hopefully now that she is home will get better now. Janice
DeleteSo very sorry about the scare you went through with your daughter and am glad she is finally home...and hopefully on her way to a full recovery. Your mantel decor is beautiful...so elegantly simple and understated. I don't technically decorate for winter but do have a lot of snowmen in my Christmas decor that stays up longer than the rest....and lights...I like the lights. Ok, who am I kidding? Everything I put up for Christmas is still out LOL. ~Robin~
ReplyDeleteI actually mixed in a bit of trees with Valentines one year. The pops of red against the green was pretty nice. Janice
DeletePrayers for health and peace of mind...I can't imagine how worried your family must have been. And to lose a neighbor and family member as well...so much to try and take in.
ReplyDeleteYes, I do decorate for winter...or rather I tuck away the Santas and leave the snowmen, greenery, and trees up. I know some folks put away the tree as soon as possible, but I think it has a cheery glow that's needed in the long, dark days of winter. We always get a concolor fir, and it's amazing how soft it stays for weeks...no needle drop, it's a winner! Take care, Mary
So glad others decorate for Winter. To me me it makes it a bit more cheery in the dark nights of January and February. Janice
DeleteI'm so glad your sister is Ok and hope she continues to heal. Yes, I decorate with snowmen for Winter. It just looks too bare when the Christmas stuff comes down. I like your mantel and it gives me an idea for my kitchen one. Have a good weekend and I hope the snowstorm that's predicted for part of the country misses you...and us!
ReplyDeletePlease share your kitchen display. Janice
DeleteOh goodness, Janice, what a start for 2022. Sending prayers for better days. I enjoy a little winter decor as well. I like to keep things cozy for a month or two. Jane
ReplyDeleteThanks Jane. Hoping things get better now for my daughter. Janice
DeletePrayers that your daughter finally remains healthy. She has been through hell and back...and so have you. No matter how old, they are still our babies.
ReplyDeleteSo sad about your 57 year old neighbor. Very scary. So sorry about Bob's family member, too.
On a lighter note, mantle is wonderful as is everything you decorate.
Yes she is my baby for sure even though she is my oldest. Thanks for the thoughts and prayers. She really needed them. Janice
DeletePrayers for your family especially your daughter's healing. Very sorry about your neighbor and Bob's family member. Hopefully the winter decor will lift your spirits. Your decor always brings a smile.
ReplyDeleteThanks Sandy! Yes I do like leaving up the white lights in January. Makes it a bit brighter at night. Janice
DeleteHow scary to hear this from the doctors, and no wonder you lost it Janice. I'm so glad your daughter is finally home and hopefully will be feeling better every day. How sad that your neighbor died at 57!? Was she ill? Do they know what happened? Was Bob's family member ill? I do hope things get better soon. They can't get much worse, right?! As far as decorating, I put away my tree (fake tree), and my Santa's but I still have a few Christmas themed things around. My little lead figures that my mother had when I was growing up, my painted mink stretcher with the Santa scene, and some bottle brush trees. I guess I'll have to put those away before Valentine's Day! I love your stocking that your mom made... Jan in MA
ReplyDeleteYes very scary and so glad she is home now. I hate the hospital she was in. Janice
DeleteYes, it looks very festive winter display. Are you kidding me!!! That poor girl! I will pray for both of you. Here is to better days ahead!
ReplyDeleteI just wish this mantle had electricity like my old one did. Oh what I could do if it did. Janice
DeletePRAYING!!!! We had a friend have a terrible reaction to medication just two weeks ago. It really is scary, I would get very upset too.
ReplyDeleteContinuing to pray.. this year has not started well.
Oh no. Hope your friend is doing good too. It is very very scary. Janice
