Hello friends!
Although the sky is not falling as Henny Penny thought.
This post is about all that is chicken related.
Like this wood egg crate and chicken door stop.
Spring on the farms reminded me of baby chicks.
Gramma B would bring the chicks inside
if the weather was nasty outside.
I so loved their peeping sound.
Not to mention they were so soft.
This egg scale was my gramma B's.
In the gathering basket are an egg beater,
and paper egg carton.
I have a small collection of wire egg baskets.
Like this round one.
Another gathering basket for eggs if course.
Spring is here now!
WOOHOO
Notice the lil chicks?
This was an after thought after
I had already started my display.
Been working on the penny rug for years.
It is an adaptation of a real one my friend once owned.
Hence the real reason I chose this blog post title.
Henny Penny Blessings To All!
Janice
I have a wire basket like your first one AND the chicken one. Nice penny rug and I did a small one and decided that wasn't a fun thing for me to do. I love the look but would rather be hooking a rug.
ReplyDeleteHow nice. This penny rug is still not finished. Not sure when it will be. No interest right now in doing it. Janice
DeleteJanice, I have always wanted to make a penny rug. Like many things I have always wanted to do, I haven't yet! I have the same egg scale. I love how you display all the baskets on the peg rack..Stay well..xxoJudy
ReplyDeleteThanks Judy! My gramma B use to weigh her eggs using this scale to sell them. Janice
DeleteWhat a pretty display! I love the gentle peep-peep-peep of chicks.
ReplyDeleteYes they are adorable in real life too! So cute and soft. Janice
DeleteYou have a great collection of chicken related things. I love the look of the "Henny Penny" rug!
ReplyDeleteThanks! The penny rug is far from complete...not sure when it will be finished. Too many other projects in the bucket right now. Janice
Deletecluck cluck!
ReplyDeleteHappy Spring
Cathy
Chirp Chirp! Happy Spring to you too! Janice
DeleteFun chicky collectibles my friend. I'm a sucker for those old egg crates...and for soft little baby chicks. I remember well their smell and that soft chirping of theirs. I think they should add that to the sound machines they have LOL. Nice work on the penny rug. I have a few, but get bored too easily I guess. ~Robin~
ReplyDeleteI have a bigger one from my gramma B's farm that I forgot to add in this display. Oh well. I have been bored for years because thats when I started this rug. Janice
DeleteI like your egg basket collection and I used to have an old egg beater like that and now I wonder what happened to it. It must have been replaced by an electric mixer. lol... Nice job on the penny rug. I've never had the desire to make one.
ReplyDeleteTake care,
Hugs, Julia
When hubby and I use to do antique shows, we sold items like this and the Amish always came to our booth to buy from us. Janice
DeleteI do love your penny rug!!
ReplyDeleteThank you Jennie! It is a big one and not quite finished. Janice
DeleteEverything displayed is just EGGCELENT!
ReplyDeleteGreat choice of words. Wish I had thought of it. :-) Janice
DeleteWe have 5 hens, Molly, Polly, Dolly, Lolly and Holly. :-) The breed we got are Barred Rock, they are so fun to have. They are so happy Spring is here.
ReplyDeleteI love the display! Carla
Hoe fun to have rhyming names for your hens! Thanks for mentioning the Barred Rock's. I forgot what those looked like as my grammas had Rhode Island Reds, Leghorns and Bantys. Janice
DeletePenny rug is lookin' good!
ReplyDeleteThanks Lauren! Its a biggie. Janice
DeleteI have never seen a chicken crate or even knew they existed. I can just imagine one filled with little yellow Peeps! When i was little, I remember that McCroy’s always had colored baby chicks for sale at Easter. They were purple, pink, blue, green. I had no idea that chickens were that color and then Mom told me that they were artificially colored and that it caused many of them to die. I am thinking this was mainly in the 1950s and then it was banned. Did you ever see this problem when you were little up there in Michigan?
ReplyDeleteI have a bigger one from my gramma B's farm. I never heard of dying baby chicks. How awful. We use to see lots of folks trying to sell Easter Bunnies in the Spring though. City folks did not realize they grew up. Just like now when they purchase a pig. Know what you are buying is my motto. Janice
ReplyDeleteI love your egg baskets. I was just telling Rick that if I was more disciplined, I'd love to have chickens -- but it would probably be a bad idea!
ReplyDeleteChickens are a lot of work if you ask me. Have to make sure the raccoons and coyotes dont kill them. I know I dont have the time nor the space. Janice
