What I Adopted and Wool News

Greetings All!
Well I think today was my Monday.
Work was busy and then I drive all the way home,
and realize I left my purse in my desk.
I hope the rest of the evening will be uneventful.
Keeping my fingers crossed.

I did manage to adopt (purchase)
a few things from the show last weekend.

Like this orange stone fruit piece.

Wonderful old basket...
more on this at a later post.

Plus this raw wool.
I have always wanted to hang some of this.
Now just have to decide to really hang it.
I hung it in the bedroom for now so as the kitties
would not start chewing on it...one never knows with them.

Finally these child's shoes.
I fell in love with the color as soon as I saw them.
A girl cannot have enough shoes I say. :-)

Now for my wool news.
I decided a few weeks back that I had to hook this rug.
I found this picture of an antique rug on Pinterest
and immediately fell in love with it.
Don't you love Pinterest?
I bought my wool at the show.
One of the wool vendors were these
 wonderful couple from Missouri
They had gorgeous wool!

Well I drew it out my rug to look like the antique one.
{ a few mistakes in my drawing }
Will correct once I start though.

Chose my wool colors.
{trying to duplicate the antique one}
Note to myself: Get rid of the gold and make
center flowers a white.

My blues.

Blue Flowers.
{again gold has to go bye bye}

Hand cutting my worms and placing them in my
buttocks basket.
I love the sun shining through.

Well, just waiting for Bob to get home from the store,
then we are going out to eat.
I had planned on doing Zatarain's Jambalaya,
but when I pulled out the box, it was Spanish Rice.
My bad day just keeps going.
I don't think I am going to work on my rug tonight.
I may screw that up too!
Will show pics of my progress as I work on it.
For now this will be my last post for the week.
Have to get ready for our Breckenridge, MI
prim show this weekend.

Hope everyone has a great week!

Prim Show Goodness

What an amazing show we had!
Even though it snowed the night before,
and the morning of the show,
our die heart customers came out in full force.
Bob and I did good, and I was able to purchase a few things.
Also visited many friends and enjoyed catching up.
Every time we do this show,
we meet more wonderful vendors.
I will let the pics tell this story as I try and catch up
on my blog reading.
Hope you enjoy and let me know if something
tickles your fancy.

Did you see something that you liked?
I know I did!
Well off to catch up on blog reading.
Hope everyone had a great weekend.
Bob and I have another prim show this weekend.

Kitchen Redux

Happy Hump day all!
Please pray for those affected in this Nor'easter.
Almost a million folks here in Michigan lost power last week
and still 7000 without power a week later.
This will be my last post for the week
as we are heading to Holly, MI on Friday for a really
nice primitive show.
Hope to see some of you there.
I have to price items the next few days and Bob will be loading our van.
We have stored lots of nice prims for this show!

Tonight I would like to show you a few pics of our kitchen
I am not happy with these as I had to put the flash on...
so things look brighter than they normally are.
I will take more pics at another time.

I do love the white in here now.
Reminds me of both of my gramma's kitchens.
Both were white.
Gramma B had a small kitchen with a small dining area.
While Gramma H had a galley kitchen and also a dining area.

It makes our kitchen look bigger.

The wood floor makes it look clean.

Moved a few of my blue enamel pieces
to the top of this cabinet.

The white apothecary is a different white than our walls.

The new linen curtains were purchased at Kohls.

I kept the Honey Crust sign here in the window.
It brings in the light while bringing privacy...
as my neighbor is close by.

Before I close, I want to give a big HOLA
to my blogging friend Mildred who is currently in Spain.
Hopefully the weather is nice out there for her.

Will take pictures at the show and show next week.
Taking some spending money with me too!
(shhh...don't tell Bob) :-)

The Bunny Hop

Hello All!
Geez where does the time fly?
The wind storm last Wednesday knocked out power
everywhere, except thankfully our humble abode.
The town where our store lost power,
the small town south of us without power.
It was a very eerie sight driving through at night.
Almost a million folks here in Michigan
felt the effects of no power.
Fortunately yesterday around noon the power
came back at our store.

Mildred your bunny will go out in the mail tomorrow.

Kelly the paint we used for our kitchen was
Benjamin Moore Classic Gray for the walls and
Valspar Polar White for the trim.

Will post pics another time of our kitchen.
Bob has things a mess again as yesterday the water
would not drain from the washer...
ended up being a major problem with the drain pipe
rusted out and Bob having to replace pipe and wash tub.
Always something with an older home.

Things have been very hectic.
Trying to get everything done for the show this weekend.
Then we also have another show next Saturday.
Plus Bob and I are hosting our antique club here
at our house.

This is what I have been working on all week.

Girl Bunny

Picking a Spring flower.

A wool grape hyacinth.

Boy bunny.

Digging in the garden.

For his Winter carrot.

Are they not a cute pair together?

Off to the show they go.

Now it's time for me to get my butt back in gear,
and finish the other pair,
and then catch up on my blog reading.

Hope everyone enjoyed their weekend!
Temps in the high 50's here. Yesterday 20's
and 3 to 5 inches of snow tomorrow.
Guess Spring will be in my mind still...
and not outside once more.

Ember Days

Have you heard of Ember Days?
It is said that whatever the weather on March 8th is ~
the same weather will be for the month of April.
March 10th forecasts the month of May,
while March 11th forecasts the month of June.

Ember Days are always the 1st Wednesday,
Friday and Saturday after the first Sunday of Lent.
(boy that was a mouthful)

Well today here in Michigan we were under
a high wind warning.
Although we did not lose power, my daughter did.
Hopefully this Ember day does not foretell the windy
weather it is forecasting for our weather here in April.
~ one never knows around here ~

My dad use to tell me that Ember days for his dad
meant farmers would gather together and help
each other to get their fields ready for crops.

For my dad, Ember Days meant
gathering up the many rocks that the frost
brought to the surface on Grampa H's farm.

Grampa H would drive the tractor with a wagon behind it.
My dad and his brothers would walk alongside and
pick up rocks along the way and put them in the wagon.

Once they were done walking the fields,
Grampa H would drive to a place under a tree.
He then would go get the backhoe,
and dig a big hole and bury all of the rocks.

The first time my dad heard that
Landscaping companies were charging for rocks...
he said if only he still had his dad's farm,
we would have been rich with all of the rocks
they buried each year.

Guess it was not meant to be.

All of the rocks in my pictures today,
were purchased at you guessed it ~
a Landscape company.

Wish I had access to my grandfather's farm now too.

What was your weather today?
Try to remember what it was and see if you have
the same weather in April,
then in May and June.

March CupboardScape

Another manic blue Monday in the books.
Hope all is well.
I finally have my kitchen back!

Which means I have my cupboard back.

W O O H O O !

This month being that Spring is just
around the corner...
I wanted to bring in some GREEN.

It was also only fitting to add this sweet lil lamb
as our March here in Michigan came in like a lamb.

I purchased this sweet lil chalkware lamb from
Misi over at 1890Gablehousemusings blog.
Complete with nest.
Adorable indeed!

Plus since March is also the month of kite flying,
I tucked in my early kite winder.

This would be used to hold the string for your kite.

Side view with my greenery.

Sweet lamb on my black scale.

Tucked in some purple flowers
and my oil lamp to finish the look.

I managed to get this cabinet completed,
and one other one.
More pics of our completed kitchen at a later date.
I so love the white on white of the room now.
The trim is a different color than the walls.

Hope you enjoyed this look.
Any signs of green sprouting in your neck of the woods?
