A Busy Week Indeed

Good evening sweet blogging buddies.
We have been extremely busy this past week.
Last Saturday my nephew got married.

Sunday
Floor is down in bedroom.

Not sure where this yellow shadow came from.

Hand scraped hickory wood floor.

Monday a trip to Home Depot for floor trim.

Tuesday I went to a Detroit Tiger event
where Dave Rozema and Dan Petry were.
These were our pitchers for the 1984 champs.

Wednesday Bob and I went on a pick.
We purchased a blue pie safe,
Hoosier cabinet, victrola and many small prims.

Yesterday, our journey took us to see Mikey's baseball game.
Double header and his team won both games.
Woohoo for our grandson!

Getting back to my post.

Now we have to decide if trim needs to go up near the ceiling.
What do you think?

I really wanted a ceiling medallion.

Gramma B had medallions in every room of her farmhouse.
Hers were made from plaster,
this one is painted plastic.

Not sure if I showed you the finished door with shelves.

Then the trim around the bedroom entrance.
Don't you agree we need to get a new
or old door here too?

We will probably get new wood doors
as it would be a hard undertaking to find 4 old doors the same.
I am thinking  four panel ones.

I came home tonight and the floor trim is all complete.
Since we have a graduation party tomorrow,
possibly the furniture might go in on Sunday.
Keeping my fingers crossed we have some time.

Still have to make the curtains...
finish my penny rug...
find a wrought iron hook for something special we found.
Oh I so cannot wait to finally be able to finish up
and show you what all of Bob's hard work has done
to create this wonderful new living space.

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

A New King

Good Sunday morning sweet blogging buddies.
It is turning out to be a soggy wet one over here.

Remember when we rescued this wild kitten...
almost a year ago now.

Well he has turned into a daddy's boy.

He jumps up on daddy's lap nightly
and wants to be loved on.
Mom leave me alone...I'm with daddy now.

Our Shadow kitty has become the new king of the chair....
when daddy is not sitting in it that is.

Well its off to do laundry and work on my penny rug.
Since it will be a bit chilly here today,
roll up lasagna on the dinner menu tonight.
Instead of layering the meat and noodles in a pan,
I add the meat and cheese to each noodle and roll up..
then put them in a jelly roll pan.
Easy Peasy.

Lazy Sunday Blessings To All!

Spring Garden

Good morning sweet friends.
Many of you have been posting pics of your wonderful gardens,
so I decided to join in on the fun.
Unfortunately I do have a small garden.
Its the trade off for being by the river.

First up are my teeny tiny violets.

Next my blue hosta and lilly of the valley to the right.
These lillies have decided to spread into the lawn now,
so I have to thin them out.

Yellow cushion spurge.

Chocolate chip ajuga with its purple blooms.

Now these pics you can tell I need to spruce my garden up a bit.
I have to get up the courage to weed these small beds.
You see lately we have been cursed with having some
unwelcome visitors called Eastern Fox snakes.
I still say Robin from The Cranky Crow sent them to us. LOL
I was planting some flowering shrubs in our front yard
last Saturday
creating a small garden near our pear tree.
I like gardening without gloves.
Well I was removing some old ivy that originally was there...
and what do I see slithering off..
of course the tail of a baby fox snake.
I immediately went into the house...
called Bob at the store and told him
"I AM DONE"
He thought I was done planting.
"NO" I said.
"I AM SO DONE WITH SNAKES."
He reminds me that I removed a baby fox snake
out of the yard last year.
So I said ok and hung up.
Went on my computer to find out why we have snakes
now when before we did not.
It seems we have a healthy eco-system and that is why they are here.
REALLY???
So how do I get a bad eco-system..cause I want them gone.
Well, after reading that,
I decided to get my boots on and some gardening gloves,
and I was going to rid my yard of this baby snake.
Of course I could not find him after that...
and hopefuly I won't ever again.

This is why I need the courage to weed my backyard now.
Snakes like leaves..and I have lots of dead ones that I use for Winter mulch.

Any suggestions?

My last Spring flowers are some dandys.
Mikayla picked these especially for me!
Don't they look gorgeous in my tiny blue pitcher.

Penny For Your Thoughts

HAPPY HAPPY FRIDAY
my sweet blogging buddies!
I am so looking forward to this weekend.
I had a few bad days this week.
Yesterday and Wednesday.
Everything and I mean everything went wrong at work on Wed.
I love my job..but so glad that day is over with....just lots of problems.
Plus idiot drivers.
Some guy driving behind me it seemed did not want to be behind me,
even though I was going 5 miles over the speed limit.
He had to pass me up...
and as soon as he passed me up,
he put on his brakes in front of me and made a right hand turn
onto a street..really???
Guess he could not wait 3 more seconds and turn in back of me.
Then I had a gal pull out in front of me and I had to brake hard.
Guess my red car is not visible enough. LOL

Then yesterday I had a client call on the island near us.
We have to pay a fee to get on the ferry.
After my call, I realized I had left my purse back at the clients...
and of course I was on the ferry going back when I remembered.
Had to turn around and get back on again.
The only consolation was it was a gorgeous day and the water was so blue!

Here's hoping today and the weekend will be better.

I started working on my penny rug again.
Remember I have to make 116 pennies....
What was I thinking? LOL

All wool pennies.

47 of these woolie pennies sewn on my brown wool.
Can you see the start of the design?
For those new to my blog,
I saw an antique penny rug for sale with a $425 price tag.
Evn though I am an antique dealer...I could not see myself purchasing
the real thing as it was not in very good shape...
so I drew out the pattern..and am making one myself.
Now only 69 more to go.
What was I thinking?
What are you thinking?
Penny for your thoughts.

I hope you all have a great weekend!

Bedroom Progress A Finally Happening

Good morning sweet dear blogging buddies.
Hope everyone enjoyed their holiday weekend.
Mine was spent working the store and bedroom shopping.
Bob  is back to normal, so the bedroom redux is back in full swing.
He completed the window trim...

Redid it all and a fresh coat of paint afterwards.

I like how he extended the top and bottom
by adding a small strip of wood.
Gives it a bit of character, don't you think?

He added the small door and painted that as well.
Now he has to scrape and sand down the trim over the two doors
and paint all of the door trims.
We went last night to Lowe's and ordered the wood floor.
Bob has to pick it up in a week,
so this gives him time to finish up the trim.

With that said, I better get my butt moving on my penny rug
wall hanging...and the curtains.

Hump Day Blessings To All!
Don't you just love that camel commercial. LOL

A Bit Of This And That

Good evening sweet friends.
I want to wish everyone a very
Happy and Safe Memorial Day weekend.

We (Bob) is having a huge clean out our garage
antique sale this weekend.
Actually started yesterday.
I cannot believe the stuff out on our lawn.
How did Bob even get it all in our 2 1/2 car garage.

I will be busy working the store with my son tomorrow,
and shopping for fabric for my bedroom curtains on Sunday along
with shrubs for our new landscape plan in our front yard.

Below is a few bits of this and that around our homestead.
What do you think?

This was a cross stitch pattern I did from Primitive Betty.

I purchased this Alphabet pillow last year at the Breckenridge show.

This black folk doll was purchased from a dear friend.
Dawn from Holly Hills Primitives.

I made these prim pears to fit in my wood box.
The clock is an early one.

A few of my glass coffee jars.

Hope you enjoyed by little bit of this and that.
What are your plans for the weekend?

Halloween Sneaky Peek

Good evening sweet friends.
I hope everyone had a great weekend!
I had the grands over.
We made Funfetti cookies
(sugar cookies with colored sprinkles)
Then made them into an ice cream sandwich cookie.
They were yummy I must admit.

We had a wonderful time...
ate out breakfast lunch and dinner one day.
They thought it was so fun!
Then I made breakfast lunch and dinner the other night for them.

We snuggled together on the couch and watched the Ghostbuster movies and Despicable Me.
They got to play with their old friends here that they miss.
For those that did not know..my daughter and grands lived with us for almost
2 years after her divorce.

I have been working on Halloween when I can.
This is the finished pillow.
The pumpkin is made from wool.
The stem is some striped flannel I had,
and the cat is black fabric with a woolie nose.
I hand stitched all of this from a vintage feedsack bag
I cut up that had many holes in it.

Filled these piillows with scraps of fabric.
I love the lumpy feel it gives...so very prim.

The back is a brown calico print.
A bit darker than this pic shows.
I have 5 completed and 5 more to go.
Bob and I will be doing the
Harvest At The Mill show this September in Holly, Michigan.
Looking forward to seeing some sweet friends again!
