A Homespun Christmas

Happy Thursday my friends!

Today another small part of my home decor.
I so love the graphics of early
Christmas boxes.

A birthday present to me
from me this year.
I have been collecting antique cotton homespun
fruit ornaments for a few years now.

I purchased the apple above and this pear.

Although not on an antique feather tree,
the fruit adorn this small tree.
My real feather trees are too fragile for these.

This leather reindeer is pulling Santa's sleigh.
It is hard to tell, but I do have an antique sled here.
I should have put a bit of white in between
the drysink and sled. Oh well.

A corner small display.

I purchased this wool Santa from an antique friend.

Now for some night time views.

I kept things simple this Christmas
with not many displays...
but am happy with what I did do.
Instead of my 3 tall trees,
only one.

Mantle Madness

 Hello blog friends.

Hope this post finds you safe and well.

Back in June when I was creating
my look and purchasing items for our store,
I became frustrated in November because my
idea for my mantle was not fully complete.

Although the last picture will show
the final look...believe you me,
I was worried that my back ordered items
would not come in on time.

Owning a gift shop is much different
than owning an antique store.
For Halloween and Christmas goods,
if you want free shipping you have to order in June.
If you don't order the minimums from your wholesalers,
forget about getting orders.
If you don't order early, chances are you wont
get your product.
There is also a chance you still won't get it.

I did want I could to make this mantle festive.
The felt garland was a hit at least.
I have also changed the mantle up now
as things sold.
{which I am not complaining about at all}

Still keeping track of inventory and what sold
and did not sell is very important.
I spend every Saturday morning working on it
hours before I open.

If I did not have my inventory system,
come tax time this would be a big headache.

As you can see the mantle was finally complete.
My backorders came in on time.
The stockings were hung in the hopes
that St. Nicholas would surely come.
In fact isn't that him coming down the fireplace?
Presentation is everything
my design teacher once told me.
She was exactly correct.

Before pic again.

Plus these Santa cams also arrived just in time.
Two AA batteries placed inside and a red light appears,
Children know when they see the red light,
that Santa is watching them.

Santa Arrived Early

At our gift shop that is.

Santa's magic key for getting into your home
without a chimney.
Don't you love these old timey Santa's too!

We have Belsnickle Santas, Metal Santas, Rudolf
and Santa Pics in frames.

Santa says you better not pout,
and always leave him milk and cookies.

I just adored these faux amaryllis plants.

Plue these faux feather trees with tips in white.

Galvanized items for those into the farmhouse look.

Driftwood trees for those living along the river.

Everyone loves the buffalo check ribbon
I added to our cabinet.
In fact I had one lady who wanted to buy it.
Told her to go to Hobby Lobby.

Very festive don't you think?

Our Christmas pillows have been a hit....
well everything has. LOL

Finally this is the birch leaf garland
I was mentioning in an earlier post.
Only have one left.
Each leaf was made from birch bark.
Been very popular and cannot purchase
any more. :-(

Sales were awesome yesterday.
Hopefully it will be good today too.
Folks love our toys from England
along with our made in the USA
jigsaw puzzles.
In fact we just ordered more last night.

Long Johns

Hello friends.

Thank you all for the birthday wishes.

Much appreciated!

Wednesday started my first holiday post,
which I will continue every other day from
now until Christmas.
Hope you enjoy our store displays as
well as my home ones.

Today is my hall this Christmastime.
Now the glare on the picture is not a ghost...lol
it is from my window in our front door.

I wanted to add these red longjohns this year.

Both of my grandparents wore them.
How do I know you might ask.
Well they always wore bib jeans on the farm.
When they came inside from doing chores.
they would take down those straps and
underneath always were their long johns
in the Winter.

If you notice I added a red stocking to the right.

A wide view of our hall from the living room.
The red long johns pop in here now.

The fabric in my drysink is a piece
of a linsey woolsey blanket..

The gentleman in the picture is not a relative,
however he is the spitting image of my brother.
The similarity is uncanny.

I so love my faux poinsettias.

Mixed some faux lady apples with
some green artichokes and red leaves.

Makes for a festive little corner,
which leads into our kitchen.

Finally this candy cane was made in the 1980's.
I sold many of these in the day.
when I first started making primitive crafts.
It currently hangs on my red cabinet in the hall.

Well that does it for my hall this Christmas.
Hope you enjoy my little home tour for today.

Snow Time

 Is now here for awhile.

Am not a fan of snow,
however this year it does not seem so bad.
Maybe because I do not need to drive in it
for work.
I may have to occasionally when I work the store,
but the drive will not be that far.

Today I show off our snowman area
of our gift shop.

On the left is a package that has all the fixins
to build your own snowman.
Hat, scarf, eyes, nose, pipe.
I also have mittens in both cream and red.

Lots of fun ornaments.

Both in wood, metal and glass.

Paperwhite flowers,
and handmade framed snowman pictures
 that I created.

I so love the red and green lights overhead.
Makes our room so festive!

Snowman heads, hats, and a prim snow mitten
I also created.

The corner all set up,
including the tree I decorated with
the ornaments that are for sale.

I forgot to take a picture
of the garland on this tree.
It is a garland of leaves made from birch bark.
It is so cool and I only have a few left.
I will have to remember to take one
and show it in another post.

Also today I am 62 years young.
No birthday celebration here today.
I wanted a carry out on Sunday
from one of our local restaurants.
We both had lobster ravioli
and a salmon spread appetizer that we love.
It was my birthday treat!

Well have to get back to work.
