Summer Fun

Good morning friends.
Working all weekend,
I was exhausted last night
and went to bed at 9pm.

Back at it today after my post.
Much work still to do.

Today I just wanted to show you
what Bob has been up to.
Making wood goodies for the store
for some Summer fun.

A white flip flops shelf with hooks.

In blue.

Another in turquoise.

Then he made this tugboat.
If you look closely. I swear there
is captain in the middle window.
(not done on purpose)

Three buoys in Patriotic colors.

Another tugboat made into a key holder.

Three angel fish.

A Mother's Day sign.

SMILE

We will soon be back to normal.
Hopefully.

Back to work.

April CupboardScape

Today is Saturday
Easter Eve.
I would normally have told you my
plans of taking FIL to the grocery store,
doing laundry or even what I was creating.

This weekend I volunteered to work.
Both Saturday and Sunday.
Now you might think I am crazy
working on Easter weekend.

Well since I will not have family over,
it will be a quiet one with just Bob and I.

I am not even baking a ham.
We will have a beef roast with all of the fixins.

I chose to work for a very good cause.

Some of you know that I am a banker.
Some even know the major bank I work for.
However I cannot tell you here.

I work in our loan department,
and all last week and this week
I have been taken from my normal job,
to train on how to review the
many loan applications
for the government's paycheck protection program.

This is the program where small businesses
with less than 500 employees can apply for loans.
Each Bank and Credit Union is tasked
to review these applications and documents
before sending to the SBA (Small Business Association)

Owning a small business myself,
I know the importance of getting these
loans reviewed in a timely manner,
so that these businesses can get
 their funds to stay open.
We ourselves have also applied at our local bank.
{not the one I work for}
[conflict of interest]

So you will find me not working on anything,
but will be at my computer,
going over paperwork for those who
need it most to keep our economy going
once we finally can re-open
across the country.

I hope you all enjoy your Easter Weekend!

A Colonial Bunny

Can it be Wednesday already?
I wish it were Friday.
Last Saturday was the first one in many years
where I had to work.
Hopefully it will be the last.
I am too old for this.
.

Since Easter was cancelled this year,
I really did not feel like decorating.
Yes I am in a funk.
I only put out two bunnies.
This hooked rug and another bunny
 for this months CupboardScape
which will be my next post.

This display is an ode to my colonial friends.

My home can go either way...
prim or colonial,
so it is nice sometimes to change it up
to more of a colonial look.
Instead of adding eggs to my basket,
I tucked in an old book.

Notice the old specs (eyeglasses)?
[on the book]
They look like the ones Benjamin Franklin
would have worn.

Well that's my first bunny display.
The next one will be in my next post.

In other news,
we took down our Easter display windows.
Started a Mother's Day one.
We are just hoping and praying that we will be
able to open before then.

If folks would just stay put...we will be.

Special Tulips

When Bob and I started the clean out
of our attic last Saturday...
and it is not done yet.
So much more to go through.

Any hoot, these tulips were found in one
of the zillion boxes I have up there.

I was so thrilled to find these!
Why you ask?
Well because my dad made these.

He and I back in the 80's did the craft show circuit.
He made wood crafts, while I made my fabric ones.
We did Spring, Autumn and Christmas ones.
My dad passed in 1993.
So this was a great find as I forgot my mom
even gave me these a long time ago.

I originally had nothing in my wax sealers.
My dad's tulips make my display even better now.

This is now my daily view while I work from home.
Even though the tulips are not blooming
yet outside here,
they are blooming inside...
and oh how they make my heart sing!

Have you ever made a discovery
that made your heart sing?

The Makings For A Prim Witch

With so many of you requesting
a sneak peek of the lil' witch
I am currently working on.

Here she is!

She is a bit of a big mouth. LOL

Coffee stained, however I need to sand
her boots a bit more for that aged look.

Isn't her face just adorable?

Now I am sewing 3 of these lil' witches
at the same time, and all by hand.
Her britches are this striped pattern,

Can you see the hand sewn edge?
Truly primitive.

Oops she just yelled at me for showing
her half naked.
So sorry....

She will soon have a linen slip.

There we go.
Alost dressed now.

I decided to add a black button.
At least she is a bit decent now,
however she is not completely dressed.
Nor does she have a name.
If you have any suggestions,
please let me know.

I think she is getting a bit of a complex
by me just calling her
a big mouth lil' witch.
 LOL

Once I have her fully clothed and ready
to fly, I will post again.
Also with a name....
again folks I need to get her off my back
for not having a proper name for her.

Palms & Artichokes

Good morning my dear friends.
With Social Distancing the new word for 2020,
at least I have all you wonderful
ladies and gents to talk to.

I am trying to stay positive.
There will be no Easter with family this year.

Today I wanted to show you what
I did with my palm artichokes.

If you remember from my March CuboardScape,
I purchased these for our new store.
I brought some home for my Spring decor.

This is what I did with the others that were
not featured in my CupboardScape.
I added my faux artichokes purchased
from Hobby Lobby.

So love the simplicity of the two colors together.

In other news, since working from home now,
at least I did not have to drive in this the other morning.
Looked pretty though.

Finally hopefully these adorable kitties will
put a smile on your face.
Shadow covering his eyes while sleeping.

Ace sprawled out on the couch behind me
where I sit daily for work now.
Normally when I would come home
from work he would be sleeping in our bed.
Now he sleeps here during the day.

Well off to turn my work computer on.
Hope everyone has a great weekend!
Stay safe my friends!

A BIG thank you for all those who are working
the front line to help us all out.
Without their service where would we be?

A Feature Wall

Good morning all!
Hope everyone is staying safe.
More of the big box stores have closed now.
Kohls, Best Buy, Joanne and Michaels
to name a few.
So glad I have a stash of fabric and wool.

Working on both strawberries and a
new lil witch for Halloween.

Sunday I spent the morning
re-arranging our living room
for Spring and Summer.

With that I wanted to Spring up
my dry sink.

Tied a sweet light green and white
gingham bow around my horse.

Added my Spring floral garland
on top of my picture.

Changed up my bench a bit too.
Am thinking though I need to add something
to the left of my sampler.
Not sure yet.

Bob has been working on Summer themed
wood projects at the new store.
A few folks have been coming in to purchase food.
Some even thanked him for staying open.
We will keep the antique store closed
until the end of the month for now.
Am hoping we can re-open again,
but not sure yet.

How did you spend your weekend?
Are you changing up for Spring?
