Master Bedroom Reveal

W O O H O O
I am so excited
to show off our new bedroom to you all.
We worked throughout the day yesterday
to complete the look.
What I thought would work....well sometimes did not.
We moved furniture in and out from various parts
of our home to get it just right.

Bob has been like a proud peacock...
shouting all thru the house.
I love my bedroom!
I have to echo his sentiment.

I will show the four corner before & afters first,
then some random ones.

Early feather tree.
Notice the banana stone fruit.
My friend Earlene over at
Primitive Passion Decorating Blog
gifted me two of these beauties.
Thank you again Earlene. Love them!

This chair was in our spare room.
We moved in our pine dresser in there now.

Prim winder on the floor.

An early Santa watching over all.

The bonnets and stocking were hung with care....

On the side of the closet Bob made.

Coverlets hung up.
A new bucket bench we found this Fall.
It is a perfect small beauty.

I so love all of the colors coverlets come in.

The one on the right has all of the colors our rug has.

Moved our make do candle in here.

I purchased this horse at the Breckenridge Show.

This brown cabinet also came in from the spare room.

A little bit of cheer I created a few years ago.

Another early Santa hitching a ride.
His reindeer were on strike. LOL

The sampler is the entire
Lord's Prayer.
It was stitched in 1942.
Although not really old, I still love it.

In fact I do mix in newer items into my decor.
This is a lighted sugared fruit tree.

I also like mixing in my homespun items.
I crocheted this garland,
using 1 skein each of tan and red yarn.
We do not have a headboard to our bed...
so thinking outside of the box;
we placed our quilt rack in the back.
Sometimes you just have to think outside the box.

I originally planned on placing this garland on the rack
in front of the coverlets, but changed my mind
after the bed was up.

The bedding is new from Country Curtains.
It is a quilted tan ensemble.
Added our red flannel sheets underneath
for the season.

The bed skirt is also from Country Curtains.
It is blue tick fabric.
The blue red check blanket at the foot of our bed,
is an early Linsey Woolsey one...with many holes in it.

Once again we moved our dry sink from the back room,
into the bedroom.
The next project is re-painting our back room.
After the holidays though.

My final bedroom pic is Santa's long johns.
Santa is watching over us...
but I promise Santa;
both Bob and I have been very good this year.

Hope you enjoyed our new bedroom look.
Bob thinks the room is bigger, but it is still the same size.

Hope this gives you some ideas you can use
in your own decor.

The curtains will have to also wait until after the holidays.
The fabric has been purchased..just don't have time
to sew them up right now.

Rusty Snowman Winner

How fitting that today
that I announce the winner of my
Rusty Snowman Giveaway.
Good afternoon all!
Us folks here in Michigan are
getting our first major snowstorm.
We are expecting 7 to 9 inches,
and it has been snowing all morning.
Bob did not open the store today.

Before I tell you who won,
I want to share a few more pics of our bedroom.

This is the entire wall of closets.

Bob did not like our other Edison Bulb light,
so he picked out this school house one.

The antique rug is down now.

It is an 8ft by 10ft one which we bought
at an auction a few months back.

The colors will fit perfectly into my color scheme
for this room...
soon to be filled.
It is soft and comfy too!

Now let's get to our winner.
Bob picked from the names,
and congrats to

G L E N D A

Please send me you address at
primsbythewater@yahoo.com

Since we will have to dig out of the snow
once it stops, we may not be able to get your snowman
out to you for a few days.
Please understand.

Now its time to move the furniture in...
and get to decorating.
Let the fun begin!!!

Rusty The Snowman Giveaway

Happy Thursday to all!
Tis the season of giving and I would like to
give one of my blogging friends the chance
to win one of my snowman.

With the impending snow we are about to receive tonight,
I felt it was quite fitting to giveaway this frosty fellow.

On his pants is a rusty snowflake,
which gave me his name.
R U S T Y

He is a primtastic snowy half pint,
who wishes to find a new family for Christmas.

Before I tell you how you can win this special chap.
I want to give you an update on our bedroom redo.

Paint is on. Colonial blue on three walls.
Off white on the closet wall. This is Bob's closet.
He did not paint the inside yet when I took this picture.
It will be the same off white.

This was Bob's closet that he built, with the drawers.
Remember those ugly knobs.

This is the after picture with new knobs on the drawers
 and doors hung above.
We have doors for both main closets...but not hung yet.
Much better so far don't you think?

He is now literally as I type this post
laying the wood floor.
Cannot wait!
I am like a kid on Christmas Eve right now,
waiting for Santa to come!

So hears the deal friends.
If you would like a chance to win my snowman,
2 things I would like in return.
Since I love and greatly appreciate
reading your wonderful comments...
just comment to this post only that
 1. You would like to be entered into the drawing.
2. Also comment on Rusty or our bedroom redo...
or even both.

If you do not want to be entered into the drawing,
I still love reading your comments...
just don't mention you want the snowman.

S I M P L E
&
E A S Y

Look forward to hearing from you!
Oh yeah, the drawing to be held on Sunday sometime.
Unfortunately I have another funeral on Saturday,
so will not be home. This makes my 3rd on in two weeks.
So sad..especially at this time of year.
For those that don't know,  we buried my own father
on a snowy Christmas Eve morning in 1993.
It still hurts..especially when I see a red poinsettia.
They were his favorite.

Enough of the sad stuff.
Good luck to all!!!

A Night In The Village

Greenfield Village.
In all of its finest holiday glory.
For those lucky to live in Michigan,
we have a 90 acre living museum,
which features actual homes from the 1600,
1700, 1800 and early 1900's.
It is also home to Menlo Park,
which was Thomas Edison laboratory,
which was moved from New Jersey.
The Firestone farm is a working farm,
This home was Harvey Firestone's grandparents.
 (founder of Firestone Tire)
The home was moved from the Columbiana, Ohio area.
Bob and I went to the village Friday night for my birthday.

Holiday Nights at Greenfield Village
features the homes that were brought to the village
all decked out in Christmas for their time period.

The homes either have candle light,
or replicas of the Edison bulb lightning.
Some do have regular lighting for safety purposes.
We can thank our German ancestors for bringing
the Christmas tree to the U.S.
Table top trees were the first trees to be brought
into homes.

Santa and two of his reindeer also
made an appearance.
Did you know that reindeer keep their antlers
all through the Winter months and shed them in Spring.

Model T car rides and early cabs were available
to those who wanted to stand in line for the ride.

Some of the homes Bob and I saw had covelets for rugs.

I put my flash on to show this gorgeous one off.

The Wright Bros. family tree is now a part of their
holiday home. The village came upon an actual
photograph of the family tree and replicated it this holiday.
Near the tree was the actual black and white photo enlarged
for all to compare. It was amazing how they were able
to pull this off.

We visited the Susquehanna plantation.
This home was moved from Maryland and was built in 1860.
65 slaves provided the original labor for this
700 acre plantation which grew tobacco, and wheat.
Here the plantation was setting up for a Christmas wedding.

The menu was bean soup and ham with biscuits.
Slaves would have occupied the kitchen at the time.

The plantation daughters wedding dress & veil on the chair.
This rug was amazing as well!

Another home was ready for a fancy Christmas feast,
with red and green paper bells above.

This was a replica of Noah Webster's library.
He created the first dictionary.

A child's sled and skates lie on the floor.

Noah Webster's sitting area.

A rope bed with a bed warmer on top of the coverlet.

We were told by the reenactor in this home,
that if the handle of a pitcher were to break,
it was normal for the tinsmith to create a make do one.
Wish I had this blue and white beauty.

Another bedroom.

Orange pomanders were made to keep the home
smelling nice in the Winter as families lived in close
quarters during the cold months.

The reenactor's had most of the fireplaces lit,
and those in the kitchens had meat cooking in them.
The smells of beef, turkey and ham were wonderful!

This one room home is the oldest in the village.
I wanted to take everything here home with me.
Gorgeous early red paint furniture.

This dessert table was the bomb.

We spent 3 hours strolling around.
Lanterns lit the way along the roads.
They even had a large outdoor movie screen
playing the silent movie of a Christmas Carol.
We watched it for a few minutes..reading the subtitles.
There was even a police officer dressed from the 1930's
in the center of Main Street.
When a model T was coming, he would blow his whistle
for everyone to get out of the street.

For those of my friends who live here,
I strongly recommend you to go.
It is an amazing experience, and we never tire of visiting.

Do any of you have a similar place in your home state
to visit like this?
