Getting Ready On Two Counts

Good morning sweet friends.
Today is surgery day for my daughter.
Please say a prayer for her if you can.
Much appreciated.
It's been a week since she was released from the hospital,
only to be ordered to bed so the swelling could
go down in her leg.
She has been so bored she has taken up crocheting.
Rather trying by viewing You Tube videos.
She wants to make a mermaid tail blanket.
I told her to start by making a scarf.
Now Bob thinks we will all be getting
scarves for Christmas, :-) 

Speaking of Christmas, I bought this sweet
early hooked rug at the New Haven show.
If you look close you can see blocks stacked
or stars...just depends on how you see it.
What do you see?

This fun tree had to come home with me too.
Do you notice the star on the rug is a bit different
from the one on the base of the tree?

When I spotted this acorn silver ornament.

It gave me the idea to place it in a bowl of walnuts.
Don't the nuts go together. ;-)

To finish my vignette I added my bowl.

It is the sweetest red color.

The finished look....

I think it still needs something to the left.

Will keep looking in my bag of goodies...

er my attic, for the right item, so stay tuned.

Bob took it down now and the ceiling tiles are gone too.

Breckenridge Show

Good afternoon all.
Well we are back from the show,
and it seems I caught a cold.
Trying to motivate myself to start
my Christmas decor.

I did manage to take some pics of our booth
before the show.
Unfortunately we sold two pieces of furniture
before I took these.
Good for us, but bad for you...
as they were some awesome pieces.

Hope you enjoy.

Off to take my living room curtains

out of the dryer and re-hang...

and hopefully tackle the attic for the

Christmas decorations to take down.

Way Back Wednesday

A big BIG thank you for all of 

the well wishes for my daughter.

The surgeon from the hospital in

Wyandotte, MI released her on Tuesday evening.

She met with the surgeon now closer to home

yesterday afternoon.

He went over everything the other surgeon sent him,

and now surgery has been scheduled for next Tuesday.

Right now she has been ordered to bed rest

until then to ensure the swelling in her leg subsides.

They will NOT do surgery if her leg is still swollen.

Since she is a single mom who is very strong willed,

she wants to stay at home after surgery.

One of her friends has started a meal train for her.

She posted the month of November on Facebook,

and everyone who can bring a meal for her and my grands,

is asked to sign up for each day. I am going to do weekends,

since I work during the week and live an hour away from her.

I thought it was an awesome gesture and am so glad

there are good folks that want to help her out.

Bob has the van packed for the show

and I have just a few more things to price tomorrow...

then off we head to Breckenridge, MI on Friday

for an awesome prim show!

Sunday morning will find me, 

digging through the attic,

deciding what Christmas goodies to bring down.

I have a plan...so we will see.

Our Primitive Booth

Well another Monday in the books.

However I just realized that there are only

6 more Mondays until Christmas.

W H A T???

Our antiques weekend was anything but dull.

Friday night Bob and I did not get to bed until 2AM.

Then had to be back at the show by 7AM

as Bob is the show organizer for this one.

Which means we had 4 hours of sleep.

Then at about 5:30PM on Saturday I got the call

 that every parent dreads.

My precious daughter Michele was in a motorcycle accident.

A freak accident at that, as it happened when the driver

was only going about 3MPH turning in the parking lot

of a bowling alley. He hit a patch of what he thought 

was mud and it turned out to be mush....

and the bike toppled over and broke by daughter's leg.

Of course getting the call, no one could tell me anything.

I had to drive 2 hours to get to the hospital where she was.

My son drove with me as Bob had to be at the show 

in the morning and I did not know what was happening.

Then what we thought was a clean break...

ends up being 4 after a second set of xrays on Sunday.

 Surgery to have a rod, screws and plate will be

as soon as the swelling in her leg subsides.

After taking my son home on Saturday night,

I did not get to bed until midnight....

so I was dragging on Sunday.

The surgeon told me it will be a 3 to 4 month recovery.

Prayers that the surgery is a success greatly appreciated.

Then on a final note,

I was just picked for jury duty.

I don't have to report until December 6th,

so I have a few weeks.

Enough of the not so fun stuff happening in my life.

Onto the pics of our booth.

I wish I could show more,

but we were the only primitive booth at this show.

I did take pictures of some Christmas

in another vendors booth.

I also did find a few Christmas items 

and one other treasure for myself.

Dinner With Santa

Happy Friday everyone.

Later this evening Bob and I will be setting up

for our New Haven, MI show.

The school is having a volleyball game tonight,

so we cannot get in until 9 this evening.

Will be taking a short nap

as it will be a long evening.

Tonight let's have dinner with Santa.

The plates have been set.

Festive colors of red and pink,

to continue with our Victorian snow theme.

With bowls of Christmas potpourri

throughout the front of the store

to stimulate your senses.

Gram H always use to set 

an extra place setting at her table.

She said it was for those loved ones who were gone

to join us if these chose to.

Holiday Beginnings

Ok, so don't hate me too much here.

Bob and I spent many hours into the wee night

yesterday decorating parts of our store for...

you guessed it

C H R I S T M A S

This year's theme was a Victorian

snowy Christmas.

This actually reminded me of gramma H's

farmhouse, where pinks, silvers and touches

of gold were throughout.

Her furniture was this stained color as well.

Where she would sit on her settee

with either a cup of strong coffee or hot tea

or hot chocolate with marshmallows on a cold 

Winter's night.

If we had a player piano playing 

Jingle Bells or Silent Night,

I would swear I was in gram's parlor right now.

(my mom made the pillow for us)

I think she did an awesome job for being 82!

Although gram was not much of a baker...

she made some of the best holiday fudge.

I have her recipe and make it just before

Christmas each year now. 

She would store it in tins like this.

The cake plate reminded me of the story my dad told

of his brother being the big shot carrying gram's

chocolate cake from the kitchen into the dining room

on a glass plate similar to this..

He was boasting about carrying it....

and plop it all went on the floor.

They had no chocolate cake that night,

and needless to say Uncle Ken

no longer carried the cake again. LOL

A bit of my dad came through too.

S I L E N T    N I G H T

was his favorite carol.

Gram also liked collecting these 40's and 50's Santas.

Not sure who in the family got her collection though

after she passed.

This Santa actually came from an old store

that went out of business where they used him as a display.

He proudly waves to folks walking down the street.

He is a mechanical one and still works....

until he gets overheated, then stops.

Works again when cooled down.

We love him!

Outside looking in at our fireplace.

The stockings are not filled,

but as a child mine were filled with candies,

cookies and treats...not toys.

Oh the memories of Christmas.

I do believe in the 8 years of Christmas store displays,

this is my favorite.

Will have to take night time pictures.

It sure has brought back many wonderful

 childhood memories.
