Sunday and Monday Crafting

Since Bob worked the store this weekend, that left me home to do what I wanted to, so I decided to do some patriotic crafting. I drew many dollies, and I wanted to make as many as I could, until the darn sewing machine broke. First my needle broke..which is an easy fix, but then after I put in the new needle and tried to sew again, it made this awful sound, and when I opened the bobbin case, the guts all fell out. ARGHHHH...so there ended my sewing projects. Now to reiterate Angela's comment---I am hoping the sewing machine doctor can make it good as new.

Before the sewing machine died on me, I was able to get a few items made, so tonight I am sharing with you all the items that I was working on this past Memorial Day weekend while staying out of the humidity...too hot even for the dock....

The doll on the left is wearing a vintage doll dress that I found on our recent buying trip.
This doll in the middle sporting her star spangled dress even looks cute hanging on the wall with her freshly picked mini strawberry inside her flag pouch.
Last but not least, this stump doll holding her sprig of tiny white flowers with her flag waving proudly.

Then I was able to make these patriotic peppermint sticks along with this heart make do with the flag on the vintage bobbin. I actually made 8 of the peppermint sticks...some black & white and others in color.

My camera is acting up, but these peppermint sticks are made from Liberty Candy with a picture of our founding father George Washington on each wrapper.

So while I was writing this post, I decided to have another giveaway...yes folks you heard me right...but don't tell Bob about this new giveaway...it's our little secret ok.

For every one of my followers who can bring over a new follower to my blog, I will give you my pattern FREE to make these peppermint sticks for yourself, including my secret to aging the paper. You must make a comment on this post giving me the name of the new follower you brought over, send me an email with the name of your new follower to backporchprimitives@yahoo.com  and then I will send you the pattern. It's that easy. New followers can also do the same if they bring someone over. This will be open until June 17th, which will give everyone enough time to make these peppermint sticks to enjoy before July 4th....and the good thing about these candy sticks is that they have zero calories!

One more thing...every person who just wants to leave a comment on this post without bringing a new follower over, will be entered into a drawing to be also held the night of June 17th. The winner of this drawing will receive 5 peppermint sticks in their choice of black/ white or color wrappers.

FREE PATTERN or CHANCE IN A DRAWING...are you up for the challenge ladies and gent...you decide.

Good luck everyone!
Take care,
Janice

  1. Woo Hoo Janice! Fun Giveaway - love these little peppermint sticks!! I would love to be entered in a chance to win them. (I'll try sending some followers over, but the only person who "listens" to me and does what I tell her to do already signed up as a follower!!) So, I'll take my chances in the draw - anyway, it'll be more fun to win them already done up! Love your little dollies too! Smiles & Hugs ~ Robin

  2. Love your dollies Janice! The one on the left looks so hugable and I love the star fabric on the middle doll. Geeze...I feel like we should have a wake for your machine...this is terrible! TERRIBLE! I hope the doc can fix her up for you. Give you time to trace & cut and when you get her back you'll be ready to sew! I want to post about your giveaway, but pls don't enter me this time since I just won your cute strawberries! ~*~Lisa
