Can you believe July is almost over.
It's been almost 4 months since I retired.
A few weeks ago, I called my former boss
to see what she was up to.
She answered her phone with a hello
in the form of a question.
I said hello back and asked
her how things were going.
She responded "it is you!"
I said well who do you think it was?
She responded by saying she thought
she forgot to change my office phone.
We both laughed.
5 of my co-workers have left
the bank since I retired.
Good people tired of what is going on.
She did not blame them.
She even said I got out at the right time.
I know I did.
Well now that I went off on that tangent,
here is my finish for this month.
Jeny Brimer.
I stitched this in honor of my grandfathers.
I placed it up on my heritage wall.
Well that go me thinking about something
I recently purchased at an antique store.
I measured....and yep it would fit.
So first I put up Mary Jane Kerr.
This one was stitched with
my grandmother's names.
So now both my grandparents are up on the wall.
This was the piece I purchased.
It is a tin candle holder from the
mid 1700's.
I may move up the piece below a bit now...
but am loving this wall.
To replace Mary Jane Kerr,
I added Margaret Beattie to
the top of my cabinet for now.
I cannot believe I started this
heritage wall journey back in 2023.
and the good news is now that I
re-arranged all of the furniture,
I have 2 more walls now.
Yippee
In other news,
we placed mom in Hospice now.
She was moved back to her apartment
on Tuesday via ambulance.
She will be monitored by the staff
every 2 hours, while the nurse will
visit daily.
She will be given soft food to eat...
and whatever she wants to drink.
However it will need to be in moderation
so she does not aspirate.
I wont be visiting her today,
but will go see her tomorrow.
I so appreciate everyone's thoughts and prayers
as my family goes through
this very difficult time.
You all are the BEST!
Friday Blessings To All!
Janice

Am sure your previous boss appreciated your call, particularly since losing so many other employees in the last 4 months.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you retired, both to get away from the situation but also with what's happening with your mom.
ReplyDeleteI just got done talking with someone from my workplace too, who was telling me some things going on there. :( Glad to be retired.
I love your heritage wall!
I love your heritage wall-hugs
ReplyDeleteWow 4 months already!!! Love all your stitchery. Beautiful. Will continue praying for your mom and all of you. I pray in the morning when I'm walking.
ReplyDeleteI love the family wall. Your work is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI am praying for you all.
Love, Carla
I can't believe it has been four months since you retired.
ReplyDeleteI am thinking of you and praying for all.

It's a stressful time now you're going through with your mom. I hope you all can find some peace. 🙏
ReplyDeleteYour samplers all look great on that wall. I like the latest one, in honor of your grandfathers - the colors and design. Very nice, Janice.
It hardly seems like it's been 4 months since you retired. I was thinking maybe 6 weeks!
While you can't believe it's been 4 months since you retired, I can't believe how many beautiful (and stitch-intensive!) pieces you've started, finished, and added to your heritage wall in 3 years. I'd be hard pressed to show one substantial piece finished in the past 3 years. Continuing to keep you, your mom - and the rest of your family in my prayers. Hugs my friend.
ReplyDeleteYour Heritage wall is so amazing!!!
ReplyDeleteI’m sorry about your mama! Praying!!!
Wow. Five in four months is a big turnover! Hope your visit with mom was good.
ReplyDeleteYour heritage wall is such a loving tribute to your family.
ReplyDeleteContinued prayers for mom.
Your heritage wall is just the best. I don't think I could imagine anything else in that space, it's so perfect. I'm glad your mom can be back in her space and be made as comfortable as possible. I know this is an especially hard time for you and your family. I so admire that you have done so much. It's very stressful, but you have been there for her. Big hugs.
ReplyDeleteThat heritage wall is amazing! So much work honoring your ancestors. Love it! I can tell you're enjoying retirement and I'm glad you were able to leave at a good time. When you know, you know what's best for your life. I'm sorry you're going through this health issue with your Mom and having gone through similar, I sympathize and will send up prayers. Hang in there and try and enjoy this last week of July.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful and meaningful sampler you've finished this month, Janice! I love the idea of a heritage wall and it looks wonderful. I had to laugh as I read about your former co-workers all leaving within a short time frame. The same thing happened when I retired almost 9 years ago from the library. I don't even know more than one or two people now when I go there! Wishing you and your mom and family much peace during this difficult time.
