The Last Hurrah

Here are the last of my Autumn displays.

At the end of our hall.

The one quilted candy corn on the left
 I purchased.
The others I sewed up.

I always like to do a display
on the side of the bed in our guest room.
Just for my mom.

One of my dolls and faux pumpkin.

This hanging cabinet is from the 1700's.

This wall has my great aunt on the left.
A hooked rug I did.
My mom's parents wedding picture.

The antique iron bed my mom
sleeps in when she comes to our house.
This is a 3/4 bed.
Which means it is bigger than a twin,
but smaller than a queen.
You have to special order mattresses
for these beds.
We opted to just use twin mattresses.
Bob had to cut a piece of plywood down
to fit the opening.
Then we placed the mattresses on top
of the plywood.
I use twin sheets, but a queen comforter.

In other news,
Bob and I went to dinner last night.
There were quite a few trick or treaters out.
We got home around 7 and it was still in the
mid 50's. Good night to trick or treat.
Hopefully tomorrow will be good for those
who do it then too.

Dont forget to turn your clocks back tonight.
I wish they would stop this...
but at least next Spring I wont be at work
when they do it again....
and I can sleep in. YAY

Well off to the grocery store.
Bob wants me to make my pumpkin dip,
so going to get some of the ingredients.
We eat it with molasses and windmill cookies.
Making beef stew for dinner.

November Blessings To All!
Janice

  1. Your mom's bedroom looks lovely. Beef stew sounds yummy, I haven't made that in years. Matter of fact I haven't eaten red meat in decades, but do eat chicken and fish.

  4. I really enjoyed all your photos today. The guest room is charming. I've never heard of a 3/4 bed, interesting. I love the old family pictures.

  5. What time is dinner?? ;-) Seriously - sounds great. It's a gloomy, cold, day here so the stew and something pumpkin would be perfect. Or soup... Soup would be good too LOL. I love the space you've created for your mom. Having her wedding photo hung where she can see it before going to sleep and when she wakes is a great touch. I am seeing things I don't recall seeing before...like that doll, which I love. I also really love that little bench behind her...and that hanging wall cabinet is priceless!! Our Halloween night was chilly and cloudy...and a cold rain started in the later evening. But at least the trick or treaters didn't have to wear snowsuits this year. Happy November Janice.

    1. PS... Aren't the 3/4 size beds actually in between a twin and full??

  8. As always, you have so many nice antiques and cool stuff. When I was a child, I had a peculiar size bed as well - it was called a small double. I loved it.

  9. What a lovely room your mom gets to stay in! :0
I like having the time change this time but wish it would stay this time and NOT have the spring time change!!!! :)

  10. The room looks so cozy-the shades of blue and cream are relaxing and calming. I would never get out of bed! What’s on top of the 1700s wall cabinet - is it a little winder??
