It's The Love Month

I keep my Valentine's decor out
the entire month of February.
The month of love is almost
over as I call it.
Not many folks I know decorate
for Valentine's, but I do.

Let's start off where I placed Eliza's French Birds.

The pears and hearts I also made over the years.

Bob brought home this red enameled milk pail.
I told him it would be perfect in one of my displays.
I also have a blue one...so now I just need
a white one...can you guess why???

I happened to find these dark pink lights
in my laundry room back in December.
Why they were in there is beyond me....
but thought they would look pretty on my tree
for the month of February.
When they are on at night, they look more
of a dark pink...not as light as these pics.

My snowman likes them anyway. LOL
If you noticed...I added some of my
crocheted hearts to my tree too.

Hall display.

Bedroom display.

As you can see I mostly love red.

I just purchased this heart.
It was made from an antique coverlet piece.
LOVE IT!

A few red textiles out.

My prim doll holding a Hershey's kiss.

I made yo yo's from fabric and created
this heart pillow.

My teddys came out to enjoy the month.

I also made this wool penny mat.
Tea stained it to make it look a bit old.

In other news,
the second polar vortex is over...
lets hope it wont come back.

Thursday morning as I headed out of my
driveway early in the morning for work,
I had to stop a few houses from mine.
There was a deer in the middle
of my street.
I stopped and it finally took off.
Then another one crossed which
I did not see at first.
Just glad I was not going fast.
Not only was I surprised to see the deer,
I was more surprised they were out there
as it was snowing pretty hard that morning.

Then when I got to work,
as I was pulling into the parking lot,
I hit a patch of ice and almost ran into
the shrubs.
The road in to the lot is not lit and I did not see the ice.
God was with me that morning for sure.

So I read this week that
the ice on Lake Erie is near 98% coverage
which is skewing the totals for all of
our Great Lakes total being at 33% now.
This really means that the other lakes are
really not that much covered in ice, because
Lake Erie is making the combined numbers higher.
Our state is surrounded by 4 of the 5 lakes.
We have Lake Superior to the way North.
Lake Michigan is to the West of where I live.
Lake Huron starts an hour North of me.
Lake Erie is about 1 1/2 hours South of me.
Lake Ontario is the only lake that does not
border Michigan.

Just thinking of all that ice
is making me cold. LOL
Decided to make some chicken noodle soup
today for dinner.
Keep warm out there my friends.

Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!

Love Blessings To All!
Janice

  1. Good morning, I loved seeing all of your displays-had me smiling I didn't realize you were surrounded by the great lakes. I was born and brought up in Indiana not too far from Lake Michigan. That is a lot of ice you are having-Wow soooo scary to slip on ice-yikes-glad you were able to correct that.
Our warm up finally arrives today-in the 40's this afternoon so I can attempt some snow removal on the steps.
Have a good weekend hugs Kathy

  2. You finding pink lights anywhere in your house is surprising since you don't like pink. Glad you got to work and home safely with all the ice around.

  3. I love your Valentines Day decor! I agree you need a white milk pail - for 4th of July, right? The heart you purchased is a beauty.
I'm so glad that Polar Vortex is done! It's a heat wave here - 24 degrees this morning. Wow - Lake Eerie is really covered this year.

  4. Your Valentine displays are so very sweet. I also (normally) decorate for Valentine's but this year things ran amuck with getting sick. I usually take Valentine's out as I put Christmas away but I only got a start on that and things came to a grinding halt. So, as of now, I have a mess...Christmas, Valentine's and just plain chaos all over. Hope I have enough stamina today to try putting a few things away. We'll see... Glad your guardian angel was riding with you the other day. ~Robin~

  7. It all looks so well displayed. I prefer the reds for Valentine's Day as well. Now with all that ice, will there be floods in the Spring?

  9. your decorations are wonderful as always. You have to be very careful driving that's for sure between deer and ice.

  10. I love it all, Janice. And like you, I keep mine out all February too. Your tree is so pretty and those pink lights are fantastic! I might have to look for some of those next year when they start putting out Christmas lights in the stores -- probably September! It's all lovely and you have some wonderful pieces. Very cozy and "lovely"! Fingers crossed that maybe now things will warm a bit.

  11. Lake Erie freezes more quickly because it is so shallow. We are to get a little above freezing today for the first time in too long. I hate winter.
Your vignettes are sweet as always. Love your new, well worn coverlet heart.
Damn deer! I see them often in my neighborhood. They are out of control. Scary to see them while driving.

  13. I am loving all your Valentine's decorations! I keep ours up throughout the whole month of February too. It makes the winter month a little more fun. The pears and hearts you made are amazing! I am hoping for warmer weather soon too haha. We just had a new gate latch put on our fence in the backyard and I am longing for the days when we can go spend time out there without having to get all bundled up first.

  14. Your Valentine decor is lovely. I used to decorate for Valentine years ago but the only thing I get ot now is the heart mugs. Unfortunately, I'm no longer romantic. lol.
I love that sweet little French Bird pillow.
Take care, Spring will be knocking at your door shortly.
    Hugs, Julia
