Whippy Wednesday

Hello friends!

Today I bring you my monthly progress
on my stitchy work.
Let's start with Elizabeth Manners where
I left off from last month.

Now you may notice Elizabeth was misspelled.
That is how the pattern went.

Also did the big floral motif
in the upper right, small bird,
bird on tree and part of the fruit bowl.

I do enjoy stitching on this one.
Here is where I finished for May.

April's progress of Floral Motif.

For May I accomplished the peach flowers
on the left, the white flower,
then everything below those.

This one I also enjoy working on.

Next up is Faith 1831.
You know I am not a fan of 1 over 1 stitching.

I am plugging away though.
Only have one more row to go now.

Also stitched the angel on the right too.

Final progress for May on this one.

Finally Jeny Brimer.
 Where I left in April.

So in the pattern it calls for a peacock.
It also called for 4 deer on the right side.

Since my grandfather's were both farmers,
I changed the peacock to a horse.

The 4 deer to 4 cows.

Where I ended this one in May.
I don't really like the color scheme of this one...
however since it is a tribute stitch
for my grandfather's the colors
are more manly to me...so it works.

In other news,
my brother and I went back to my mom's
house on Monday.
We found  more money hidden in the garage.
$2100.00.
I hope you are all sitting down.
We have found over $15,000 thus far.
We still have  coinage to roll...
so that number will rise.
Lots of coins to roll.
We shoved it all into boxes.
We have no clue why she hid so much money.
We found it in every room of her house,
except the bathrooms.
She had savings accounts & CD's in
3 different banks so why so much money
hidden in her house?
We kept putting all of the money back into the one
savings account to help with her care.
After all it is her money...not ours.

Sunday morning we had a young buck (deer) visit us.
He was spotted again on Tuesday morning.
Not often do we have deer so close here.

Tuesday Bob and I spent the whole day
in our front yard.
Weeded, planted 5 shrubs, filled 3 pots with annuals.
Then Bob put up a new flag for us.

Today we are going to work more
 in our backyard.
Bob is also going to clearcoat (waterproof)
two items for me so I can keep outside.
It will be a secret until I do an upcoming post.
One item he had right in our garage....
when I asked him I might want one....
he says I have one.
I kid you not he has more things he has pulled
out of our garage than Carter's has pills.

First Wednesday In June Blessings To All!
Janice

  1. I always enjoy your stitching. I think the misspelled Elizabeth is charming. I appreciate how you personalize your work - the horse and cows are perfect!
Wow - that was a lot of money tucked away...

  2. Your stitching ALWAYS amazes me. Obviously, you do not have arthritis! Wow, your mom did save some money - does she remember it?

  3. "than Carter's has pills" oh my Janice, you are making me laugh.
My grandma hid money too. But not that much. WOW!
I always love your stitching, thank you for sharing your beautiful work.

  4. Good morning, Lovely stitches. I think our parents generation always had money hidden in the home-for emergencies. Good thing you are able to find it. My perennial garden is looking good this year so far. hugs from the lake. Kathy

  5. I found cash strewed all over this house when my parents died. Since we are living in their house, I wouldn't be surprised if we find more. We had to check every pocket, every book, and in the back of the kitchen cabinets. She did have a considerable amount of cash, I found in a small pocketbook on the side of her nightstand. But we knew about it. It's that depression mentality. They always wanted access to their money and didn't trust banks. I shudder to think that we had not knowingly thrown something out without checking first! Oh well - nothing we can do about it now.

  6. Wowza... that's a lot of stitches!!! And beautiful ones at that. I am always amazed at how much you accomplish just on one project in one month...and then you multiply that by 5 or more. And that is all in addition to your garden work, dealing with mom and her issues and still living life (i.e., lunches, dinners, etc.) Also amazing is the amount of cash you have found stashed at your mom's! Whoa! It's fortunate you found it. Yes, I agree with Debby...it's a depression mentality. We found some money tucked in a couple of places at my mom's but it was less than a couple of hundred dollars at most. I don't think she had $15,000 unneeded (meaning that she could stash) cash her entire life. When you and Bob are done at with your yard, you can come to my place. ;-)

  7. Always nice to see your progress on your stitchery.
Wow that's a lot of money to find just laying around. Won't find that in my house. !! :)

  8. Years ago many folks didn't trust banks and hid money in their mattress. Have you checked there too? Glad you have done a good search but now you need to be sure to check every box open every small can, etc. to see if she hid more money.

  9. Gorgeous samplers. My sealing outside displays have always failed. Old wood, new wood, bare wood, stained wood! Anxious to see what you've got.

  10. Hello! You have been busy! Wow… that is a lot of money. I used to clean homes and organize homes. I dealt with 4 homes that would be classified as major hoarding homes. It was a lot of work!!!!! Like deep bone weary, mind weary and emotional work. You are so wonderful dealing the best you can and doing all you do. Blessings friend! Enjoy the rest of your week.

  11. The samplers look amazing, and I think the horse and cows are such a sweet touch.
I can’t believe how much money you’ve found tucked away. Your mom must have had quite the hiding spots!
Love hearing about your garden. It sounds so cheerful with the new shrubs and flag.

  12. Your stitching us lovely.
When my friend cleaned out her mother's house the were taking down curtains. She ran her hand down them and found her mother had stitched a rather large diamond into the hem. When she asked her mother about it she said oh good I forgot where it was. Yikes!

  13. My mom had a few tins of coins stashed away. Certainly nothing like your mom's! I can see keeping small amounts kept on hand, like for the unexpected girl scout cookie or boy scout popcorn sellers. Though that hasn't happened since we moved out of town. Not enough sales for the drive out I guess? Then again, as others pointed out - if your mom lived through depression and suddenly the bank closed and took all your money...I can totally understand keeping a sizable amount in the house. The found money will certainly come in handy for her care!
Love the changes to horse & cows on the sampler!

  14. Oh my! That is unbelievable -- over $15,000, with more to come? Yikes. Well, she will need it for her care so a good thing, but just think what would have happened if you just had turned the house over and hadn't been so thorough. Your samplers are stunning.

  15. Oh my goodness, your stitching progress for May is absolutely spectacular. You have been so busy! Changing the peacock to a horse and the deer to cows as a tribute to your grandfathers is the most beautiful, thoughtful touch.
