"Give Thanks"

I am thankful for friends and family.
To my wonderful hubby Bob who puts up with me...

I am thankful for having a great job
and a store that is doing good.

I am thankful to God for giving me the talent
to draw and create wonderful goodies.

Plus I am thankful to all of you

ever changing posts.
I hope everyone has a great weekend!

What do you have to be thankful for?

Savannah Beauties

Good evening sweet blogging friends.
Boy it sure is a windy evening here tonight.
Gale warnings on the Great Lakes and the freighters
are hunkered down for safety hopefully.
I read that this wind storm will be as bad or maybe worse
than the November storm that sunk the Edmund Fitzgerald.

Our second day of our mini vacation
was spent in the charming Southern town of
Savannah, GA.
This town has the most fascinating history.

Did you know it is the most haunted city in the US?

Did you know that General Sherman spared Savannah
in his march to the sea but that Charleston was not?

Did you know that almost 700 people died there from Yellow fever?
This was a tenth of the population back in 1820.

Did you know that Savannah is a peninsula?

Did you know that the bench that Tom Hanks sat in for the
Forrest Gump movie was donated back to the city after filming was completed?

Did you know that along the riverfront, catwalks were built
called factor walks which were 14 feet higher than the warehouses?
This was so that the owners could watch below to make sure
their goodes were taken off the boats and workers were doing their jobs.

Bob and I arrived here around 12:30.
W e took a 90 minute trolley ride.
Then we walked another 90 minutes.

Below are some of the wonderful homes in the downtown district.

If you purchase a home here...
only 32 color choices are available to paint your home.

This home was from the Sears catalog.

The instructions to building the house were a bit incorrect
and the windows were put in upside down.

Voodoo legend has it that if the exterior
buildings are painted either blue or green,
no evil spirits can get in.

You probably have heard that San Fransisco was famous
to shangai men into slavery at sea...
however Savannah was also a port city that would shanghai men too.
It was not until a police officer was dealt the same fate,
that those involved were finally caught.
However it took 2 years before he could bring them to justice,
once he reached land once again.

Bob and I really loved learning the history about this
wonderful Southern town and would like to go back
and take the haunted trolley tour at night.

Blue Ridge Beauty

Good evening sweet blogging friends.
We left last Tuesday morning for our trip down South.
We travelled through Ohio.

Next was West Virginia.
The trees were still turning colors.

Next was Virgina and the Blue Ridge mountains.
There we saw many farms along the way.
Along with a farm of pumpkins on a rolling hill.
I was not able to get a pic of that as I was driving at that time.

We spent our first night in North Carolina at my nephews new home.
He just purchased a 4 bedroom colonial in Hickory.
He is a 9th grade teacher and soon to be engaged...
we hope before the end of the year.

Unfortunately I did not take any pics of his home.
We arrived at his house in the dark and left before dawn
the next morinng.

He did take us to a nice BBQ place for dinner and we treated him
to BBQ brisket and wonderful crispy tater tots.

More of our adventure in another post.

Winter Time Fun

Good evening sweet blogging friends.
Yipee it's the
WEEKEND!!!

Before we left for our vacation,
Bob and I spent a Friday evening until 11:00pm
setting up our Christmas displays for the store.

Apothecary jars filled with peppermints.
If you look close, you will see snowflakes in the background.
It took me 90 minutes just to stick these on the windows,
but it was well worth it.

Momma and baby penguin.

Santa holding a ginger cookie ~ which I actually rolled in
ginger, nutmeg and cinnamon spices.

Santa kitties all decked out in winter wear.

Santa pillows to the left.
Prim Santa with sheep on the right.

A snowman with his corn broom and corncob pipe.

Woolie owls peeking out from the tree.

More baby penguins marching in line.

Big woolie snowman.

Prim angel and vintage ceramic white lighted tree.

Funky prim snowman.

Hope you enjoyed our store displays with my goodies.

I'm Back

Hello dear sweet blogging buddies.
Well I am
BACK
I should say, Bob and I are back from our
buying trip/ vacation.
We scored big time with both goodies
for our store and of course
a few things for our home too!

We pulled into our driveway last night around 7:00 pm ET
and drove through snow as soon as we crossed into Michigan from Ohio.
We left 80 degree weather in Florida
to arrive to the white stuff and 20 degree weather here.
BRRR
We have 3 inches on the ground and it has been snowing most of the day.
Not complaining when I heard Buffalo got 5 feet.
I could never imagine having that much snow.

Just wanted to check in with you all.
I missed everyone and will try to catch up on my blog roll.
I may not be able to comment...cause I have many to catch up on.

Spent the morning doing errands.
Off to do laundry now.
Have to go back to work in the morning.
Vacation is over. LOL

I added this mini Christmas tree to our kitchen table
before leaving last week.
Our son Matt stayed at our house to take care of our kitties
so I wanted to start a bit of decorating before we left.

Wise Old Woolie Owl

Good evening sweet blogging buddies.
My prim show was a success over the weekend!
I came home with a couple new goodies
which I will show you in a few weeks.
Taking some time off.
All is well...so don't worry.

This was one of my creations I took to the show.

A wise woolie owl.

Be back in a few weeks.

Going South For The Winter

Good evening sweet blogging buddies.
Going South for the Winter....
ok I have a little confession.
Our tv is going South.
The south side of the room that is. :-)
I did some re-arranging for the upcoming
Christmas season.

Also wanted to make room for this adorable blue cabinet.

The perfect lil cabinet for my ginger bottle collection.

Its a corner cabinet and I put it up against our screen door.
Yes I have a screen door in my house.
Both my gramma H and gramma B had screen doors
on their farmhouses and I loved how they sounded when they shut.
So when we found this black screen door in a shed of an antique dealer,
we brought it home and hung it between our kitchen and back room.

This is where the tv was.

Then I just had to move our bench over to this corner.
Getting ready now to settle in and nest for the Winter.

Heading to Breckenridge, MI tomorrow
for a primitive antique show which will be on Saturday.
Hope to see you there.

North to South Blessings To All!

My Chaotic Mess

Good evening sweet blogging buddies.
Hope is all well with you all.
A week from today Bob and I will be heading on a road trip
a vacation,
a shopping trip,
visiting with friends and family.
Traveling to North Carolina and then to Florida.

A few weeks ago I mentioned that I had every
known space in my house filled with some type of craft.
Well I decided to show you my chaotic mess here.

Stuffed kitties waiting to get painted.

Woolie owls wool and stuff.

Floss on the arm of the chair.
Button jar and fabric.
Drawings folded over next to lamp.

Snowmen chilling out in between my crocks.

More buttons, pins, fabric.

Santas and penguin peeking from behind my sewing machine.

So you see my friends...
my house is a chaotic mess.
Do any of you have this tendency to have things everywhere
while creating?
With just a two bedroom home...
and having my mom staying here...
then my son here to help us out with the store....
I told Bob I want to raise the roof and add on bedrooms.
I even had a discussion with his cousin who is a contractor
last night about it.
We just might have a bigger mess in the future...
time will tell.

Chaotic Bliss Blessings To All!
