Whippy Wednesday

Hello friends,
here is my update on a few of the things
I have been stitching on.
Hope you enjoy.
I sure do enjoy bringing them to life.

American Eagle has me wanting to stitch
as much as I can on this piece.
At first I did not think the house
would show up on this fabric,
but once the border completed,
you can see it in its glory.
The house is not quite complete yet though.
Bottom right is not stitched here.

I managed to get another bunny completed
on Patriotic Pinwheel Parade.

This will definitely not get finished in July.
I will work a little more on it,
and then put away for next year.

A little more progress on my great grandfathers
stitchery.
Once the letters are complete, will need to add
the numbers in to be finished.
Plus the addition of my last great grandfather's name.
At first I thought piece might be boring because
am only using one color, but with
all of the  letters and different motifs it has not.

My progress on Halloween At Hawk Run Hollow.
Block 8 is completed.
YAY
This block was suppose to be all orange pumpkins.
As you can see I changed things up.
I wanted this block to be more
Halloween  than Fall.
So I changed two pumpkins into black ones.
We do have black colored pumpkins here,
along with a blue and green variety.
In keeping with Halloween,
chose black and orange for this block.

While also changing one up
 to be a black jack-o-lantern.
I love the final version of what I did.
How about you?

I am feeling a sense of accomplishment
finally with this piece.

I will also enjoy doing the next block.
At least it is Halloween themed.

Only 4 more blocks to go.
Thanks for following along!

In other news,
It has been extremely hot and humid here.
The air has been on mostly non-stop.
Thankfully for us we have air.
I hope everyone is alright out there that does not.
It was not until Bob and I got married
that we got air ourselves.
Am so glad we did.

I have the day off today so Bob and I are treating
ourselves to lunch up the river to a cafe that we love.
We love their salads and sandwiches.
I plan on getting their lobster bisque soup.
Bob will probably get chicken tortilla.
They have 5 different soups on their menu.

Looks like we also may get some rain today too.
Hopefully the humidity will go away....
but not today it seems.

Take care everyone.

Whippy Wednesday Blessings To All!
Janice

  1. What a fun and entertaining read. There is NO WAY I'd do cross stitch ~ particularly counted cross stitch. Am sure you have been using graph paper to plan all the letters and numbers in the grand fathers' names and dates before stitching. Sounds like a whole lot of work to me, more work than fun me thinks, lol. But all of them look fantastic and fun.

  4. You really have some awesome work there!!! I really love your grandfather stitchery....I would so love to do something like that but sadly I don't know how to chart - otherwise I'd sure do it because I have all my grandfathers names and dates back to 1604.
Love all you are doing and have done.
    Blessings

We are having a Heat Wave too and don't know how we could survive without central air conditioning ! Hope it cools off soon !

  6. I love seeing your stitched pieces-I don't think I could do this kind of stitching, but I am looking forward to getting back to a little embroidery again and then tackle my sashiko project I planned a couple years ago now.
the food sounds delicious-stay cool. I did not grow up with up a/c but when we got married it was so hot one summer that he got a unit for the bedroom. when we retired 20 years ago was the first we had a/c we really need it here in Missouri.

  7. Everything looks so nice - and yes, I love the black pumpkin. That was a clever addition! It is really hot here as well - it certainly puts a damper on anything that needs doing outside. Lunch sounds wonderful. Enjoy it and then come back into the air conditioning and put your feet up!

  8. Your stitching is so good! You should be feeling accomplished!
Yes, it's so hot right now. Glad you had the day off and got to have a nice lunch.

  9. You do a good job with the stitching. I wish I could do that but I’m not interested enough to learn. Just wish I already knew.
Well it will officially be summer in a couple of days so hot days will be with us all for awhile. I can’t handle humidity. It saps my energy. The humidity here right now is 10%. That’s what I am used to. AC is a must. Never had it when I lived in San Francisco. The fog was our air conditioning!

  10. You are THE FASTEST stitcher. I am always gobsmacked at what you accomplish.
Rain...oh how I wish we would get some. There have been some storms in northern Ohio but not a drop of rain where I live. The ground is cracked and the lawn already a lovely shade of brown ;-(

  11. What absolutely great stitches!! Each and every one...but I'm particularly fond of Hawk Run (of course) and your Quaker grandfather piece. LOVE the change-ups to the black pumpkins/JOL. And Sissy's right - you're the fastest stitcher I know. Wow. You put me to shame. We had a 1-day heat wave yesterday...I guess. It wasn't as hot as they said it'd get, and windier than all get-out, so didn't feel even as hot as they said it was (at least to me). I put the a/c on briefly, then turned it off. Just never comfortable with a/c for whatever reason. Perhaps too many years of working in overly a/c'd offices chilled my bones for good. Looking for another rainy spell the next several days again. The fields are standing in water. ~Robin~

  12. I'm glad you're surviving the heat dome. Lunch out sounds good (though soup sounds HOT!) I love all the stitching but especially your Halloween things. They're wonderful. Simply wonderful.

  13. It has been so hot here and the only air we have is in the bedroom. You have been so busy stitching.
I hope you had a great lunch

  14. My goodness you have had such busy fingers stitching such pretty things! I love each piece you are working on! It has been hot here, but the past two days we have gotten clouds and much needed rain.

  15. Your stitching skill ,Janice, is amazing!
Heat waves are the talk of the day in my region too. We're not expecting any rain until autumn, so we'll be trying to cool ourselves with other means.
