Pennies From Heaven

Happy Thursday my friends!
In my last post I took a picture of my neighbors home.
Unfortunately my dear sweet neighbor Shirley
passed away at 84 after my last post.
Please say a little prayer for the love of her life Paul.
They were married for 63 years and I could tell he is lost
without her now.

She is in heaven now watching over him.

This brings me to the other part of my post.

PENNIES

I drew out three circles for patterns.
1 inch, 2 inch and 3 inch in size.

Started with some blues, browns, cream and tan wools.
Some plain and some over dyed.

Two pennies made.
116 more to go.
Whew, this is going to take me awhile.
I saw this penny rug hanging on the wall
in an antique store.
The price was $425.00.
I drew out the entire pattern on a piece of paper
an decided to make one myself,
changing the colors up a bit.
(Would have loved the original..but cannot afford it)

The final project will hang on the wall in the new bedroom.
It will have 6 sides,
with each side being 27 inches.
I am going to try and add all of the wonderful
colors everyone suggested for our wall color.
Hopefully it will work out.
Will keep you posted on my progress.

Frozen Foggy Morning

Good morning sweet dear blogging buddies.

I want to thank everyone for your sweet comments
on Flopsy's fashion statement.
I decided to go without the egg,
so you will be able to see more of her dress.
After all it is about the dress, right? <smile>

Have you ever seen what frozen fog can do?

This is a picture of my neighbors house across the street from me.
After the fog lifted, the sky pattern was so beautiful against
the glistening of the trees which was caused by the fog.

This was the calm before the storm picture.
An acquantaince of mine who worked on the freighters
told me once that when you see this cloud pattern...
snow or rain is coming in.
He called these clouds "Fish Clouds"
because they sort of look like the scales of a fish.
Bob still won't beleive me about these fish clouds,
 but after these clouds passed,
the snow came.

However the trees were so beautiful before the snow came in.

Flopsy The Bunny

Happy Saturday
sweet friends.
Sure was a windy one yesterday.
Almost blew my co-workers and I into the river as we walked
from our parking lot back to work after lunch.

Today I want to introduce yoou to Flopsy.

She has a bit of faux lavender in her pocket.

She wants to say

HELLO

To everyone.

Do you prefer with her holding the prim egg.

Or without?

She wants to make sure she does not go out
on the town creating a fashon
faux pas....
so she requests your advise.

Demolition Man

Good morning sweet friends...
What am I saying?
Its not a good morning here.
We are on track to get snow, freezing rain, changing to rain,
back to colder temps with freezing fog by the time I head back home from work.

Well the only thing we purchased on Monday was the drywall.
Do you see my sad face now?

Unfortunately now we have to replace our furnace.
The furnace guy said that our current one
is emitting low amounts of carbon dioxide.
So now we have folks coming in to give us bids.
I see a detour in our bedroom redo here...

For now though, here is demolition man at work.

Popping off these ugly ceiling tiles.

Bob has finished drywalling the walls.
My son is coming over this morning to help him with the ceiling.

Hopefully this brown linoleum will find its way to the garbage too...
Our home was originally just a Summer home.
The owners wanted the linoleum in every room
to be able to clean up the sand from the river.
I would rather have wood...

We were so glad to see the insulation in these walls.
We were not sure because it was rather cold in here.

Another shot of the insulation in the interior wall.
Not sure why they did this?

Then Bob found this when he opened the interior wall.
This little slot is the back view of our bathroom medicine cabinet.
I never knew what this slot was for.
Does anyone know what this might have been used for?

Well, right below the slot (pic not very good)
but this is a pile of razor blades.
Can you believe it?
The previous owner just slipped his old razors through this slot
into the wall.
Guess he figured it was a good place to get rid of them.

Beauty And The Crock

Good morning sweet friends.
Another 6 inches of that white stuff overnight again.
It sure has been one heck of a Winter for us.

I wanted to find out how many of you have seen these.

Not the crock itself...

But the crock lid. This one fits my 3 gallon crown crock.

I have quite a few crowns which were made by the
Robinson Randsbottom Potters from SE Ohio.

This next one is a 5 gallon.
What I love about this one is another lid.

A more intricate design for this lid.
It does has a chip but I still love it.

Have you seen lids like these?

Using What You Have

Good morning sweet blogging friends.
It is snowing here again,
Suppose to get another 2 to 5 inches.
I hope everyone who lost power
from that snowstorm last week,
are now back up now.
Not fun losing power.

For those of you who like coffee
and need that pick me up in the morning,
you will understand how desparate Bob was the other morning.
He needs his coffee before functioning.
I on the other hand, do not care for it.

We recieved this Starbucks Christmas Blend
coffee as a present.
Well when Bob opened it to try it,
it was whole beans.

Alas it sat on top of the microwave...

Bob did not want to grind up the coffee..
said he did not have time to do it.

The coffee jar was empty.
I did not know we needed any,
and Bob forgot to tell me to buy some.
Well guess what he did?

He brought down the coffee grinder
from my cupboard and ground up that bag of coffee.

Now the funny thing about this whole story..
if you notice in the above pic to the right...
we have a carousel of coffee for our Keurig.
There was some coffee in the carousel.

This is why Bob needs his coffee in the morning.
He did not even think to just pop a K cup in.
He is just so use to putting coffee in a separate cup
we have for the Keurig that he forgot we had some. LOL

What is your pick me up in the morning?
Could you function without it?

February Cupboardscape

Good morning sweet blogging buddies.
YIPEEE..it's Friday..
and Monday we get to shop for the bedroom redo.
I cannot wait..like a little kid right now. LOL
Today I share with you my

Heartfelt Wishes

My February CupboardScape.

Red painted firkin.

This is a rusty cast iron muffin pan.
I saved my cranberry garlands from Christmas and draped on my tobacco rack.

I purchased three of these heart rug little pillows.
The dollie is my own creation.
Her necklace is dried raisins and a woolie red heart.

I simply love these pillows and the color!

A metal heart mold attached to my breadboard.
Notice all of the cutting marks.

I made this burlap heart from a bolt of burlap ribbon.
Kept folding the burlap back and forth on some rusty wire
and formed into a heart.

Stack of pantry boxes.

Quilt Piece

Well what do you think of this CupboardScape?
Hope everyone has a wonderful Valentine's with their sweetie.
If you do not have a sweetie..treat yourself to something nice!

Bunny Hopping

Good morning sweet friends.
Happy Hump Day.
Well my day is not starting off very well.

I was going to show you my latest cupboardscape today,
but dufuss me somehow deleted my pics for that post.
My pics are stored in our store computer...
and alas I am at home right now.

Therefore,
here are my latest bunnies.
I only have 10...used scraps of fabric I had on hand.

Hand stitched the word HOP on muslin.

Added a rusty bell on some jute.

I also recently purchased this grubby heart
from Bittersweet Folkart Primitive Dolls.

I love the feel of this rag stuffed heart and free style cross stitching.
Has anyone seen this type of cross stitch lately?

Love that commercial.

A Bit Of Love

Happy Monday Sweet friends!
The start of a new week.

Today I would like to send everyone
a bit of love.

I do not do much for Valentine's day,
but thought I should do something around the homestead.

Later in the week I will reveal my
February CupboardScape.

In the antique biz
many vendors have pictires like these
where they have no idea who the folks are.
We call them instant relatives.

I on the otherhand know that my wonderful portrait
is of my gramma H's parents in the original frame.
Great grampa Robert and gramma Effie Wagner.

A little wool hooked heart.
Do you have any plans for Vaentine's Day?
Bob and I will be doing lunch next Monday after shopping.

Mrs Raggedy and lil babe
saying hope you all have a wonderful
start to your week.

Early Hutch Table

Good morning sweet friends.
Happy Saturday to you all!
Thank you for all of the wonderful color suggestions
you provided....
creams, tans, mustard and blue.
Although I will not be able to use every color on the walls,
this did give me an idea...
hopefully my idea will work. LOL
To give you a hint....still looking for that wool...
but now will be looking for all of the colors you
 wonderful ladies gave me.

Last year we recieved a call from one of our customers.
She wanted to sell her table and when she told us it was pine,
we of course agreed to look at it.
Not only did we buy it..
but we kept it for ourselves and decided to sell
our beloved blue farm table.

Some would call this table just a pine beauty.

Some call this a shoe table,
where you would rest your feet.
Shadow just likes to be a photo bomb.

Then some might think this was a settle bench.

Table hutches were placed facing the fire of an early
American kitchen,
with the back used as protection from drafts.
Another photo bomber (Ace)

We do have a fireplace...just not in the kitchen,
therefore we only use this beauty as a table for now.
So ready to redo the kitchen and get rid of these brown
linoleum floors. YUK
One room at a time though.

How Much Is That Doggie

In the window?

Good morning sweet friends.
If you live in Michigan it is warmer in Alaska right now.
Really??

A few weeks ago my co-workers and I decided to walk down the street
to try out a new restaurant in town.
We had to walk past an antique store.

I saw this beauty in the window display.
So as the song goes...
How much is that doggie...er cupboard in the window? LOL

I could not read the price,
but sure did stop to admire..
my co-workers had to remind me we were going to lunch.
Walking back to work,
I stopped to admire it once again.

Last week Bob and I drove back through the town I work
to do some shopping on the weekend.
I again spotted that cupboard in the window.
On the way back home
I told Bob about it and he said lets go inside and check it out.

Once he saw it, he says...
this will work in the bedroom.
If you want it..lets get it.
We were in the car that day,
so we put a down payment on it,
and Bob picked it up that week with the van.
I cannot wait for this bedroom to be finished,
so I can finish it!
Plus now I have another cupboard.
What does that mean?
It means I get to shop for more things to put in it.
Yipee!!

With all of these shades of whites,
now I am not sure what color
to paint the walls.
Any ideas ladies?

The Chamber Pot

Good morning sweet friends!
Looking forward to the next snowstorm slated for tomorrow...YUK.
I must apologize for not replying to all of your sweet comments
from my last couple of posts,
but it seems I am not able to get into my email.
I need to find out what the problem is.
I so appreciate all of your comments and I did not
want you to think I had forgotten you all.

For today's post,
living in a farmhouse with no indoor plumbing,
in the Winter months this was a necessity.

Chamber pots or thunder pots as some call,
were important in the early days.
Gramma B had one in each bedroom.
Porcelean for her...
enamel for the kids.
I do not blame her...we probably would have broke it.

I love this old ironstone beauty!
I think Shadow does too.

Every time we bring something new into the house.
The kitties must inspect it.
Do you approve Ace?
This will be added to our new bedroom...
once it is completed.
For decoration only...
we have indoor plumbing...thank goodness.
Did anyone ever have to use one of these?

On another note...
Some progress on the bedroom.
Bob has the door up.
He also made a little door
under the shelves he made.
Will post pics in a bit.

I have a day off Feb 17th, so that day
we are going to pick out hardwood flooring,
paint colors and get the drywall.
Also need to find some fabric for the windows...
new curtain rods and a ceiling light.
The fun stuff begins...
oh yeah and order that mattress once the room is ready.
