Where To Begin

First let me tell you,
I have not fallen off the face of the Earth.

Where to begin...

Last week was not a fun one for me.
I was sick beginning on Sunday,
and Thursday night Bob...
although I know he was not happy at the time...
...because I waited until 10:30 at night..
He took me to our local country hospital.
About an hour later after being given a heated blanket
because I was freezing,
taking my blood pressure twice
as the first time it was too high.
Slight fever, congestion and feeling out of it.
The cute young (intern) doctor who was attending,
told me I had bronchitis,
gave me a prescription and told me to get some rest.
I stayed home from work Friday to rest.

I'm still coughing, just not as bad.
I also was told by Bob that if I wanted to stay home
on the weekend and not work at the store...
that I needed to fill out a day off form...inside joke
as Bob calls himself the president of the store.
I'm just the part timer who works on weekends. LOL
My real job is a commercial loan officer at a major bank,
with a degree in business management.
I never did fill out the form.

While I was suppose to be resting on Friday,
I spent more time going back and forth from
the living room to the bath.
Not fun at all.

Then after going out to eat at a local restaurant,
we came home to our orange and white tabby kitty Tanner
lying lifeless on our bedroom rug.
All day long I scratched his ears and the bottom of his chin,
as I made my way back and forth from the bathroom trips.
He loved when you did that to him..
I even scratched his ears before we left that night.
We were only gone about an hour and a half and he passed on.

I miss that cat :-(
He loved everyone that came to our home.
Tanner my orange and white tabby,
 had many names.
Tanner Butt.
Big T.
"T".
Fat Cat.
Big Kitty.

He was definitely a big part of our family.
I miss my TANNER so much.

He was the first animal I brought into the house by the river.
I buried my Cocker Spaniel just before I moved.
I decided on another cat because my work commute was too far for a dog.
Tanner was always there to greet me when I came home.
He was my dog.
I'm glad I was home Friday now,
but it still hurts.

I just want you all to know that I have not forgotten you all.
I have been reading up on my favorite blogging buddies,
just not commenting.
I did not have it in me to do Friday Facts.
Now you know.

Blessings to all.

The Antique Lady

If you ask Bob and my kids,
they would tell you that I was the antique lady.
However the antique lady
that I am speaking of today is this beauty!
Although Bob and I deal in primitives,
we also purchase many other items.
Bob knew this was a head vase but was not sure of the value.
These head vases range from $20.00 to $150.00 each
depending on condition and head.
When I saw this vase it immediately reminded me of my gramma H.
Living with antiques her whole life,
the only antique that she would purchase for herself
were these head vases.
She would buy celebrity heads like Marilyn Monroe,
and Mae West, and many other women and men heads.
Alas when she passed away,
all of her head vases were willed to my eldest female cousin.
Unfortunately, she did not care about these heads.
Instead of keeping them she sold them all,
and from the monies she received,
she spent buying Beanie Babies...
I hope my gramma did not roll in her grave...
Clearly she had no clue about antiques.
Such a shame.

I'm fighting a chest cold, so I am behind on reading my blogs.
I had this post in draft, so thought I would publish.
Blessing to all,
Janice

Monday Montage

I have always loved antique and vintage lace.
The following pictures are from
a few of our dealers in our store.

1930's Calico Housecoat

Late Victorian nightgown

Love this ribbon and crocheted bodice

Vintage crochet lace top nightgown

Look how delicate this lace is.

Another delicate lace insert dress.

A 1920's Nosegay with antique lace.
This wedding bouquet is in really good shape for being this old.
Does anyone else love lace as much as I do?

Spring Blessings to all.

What Did We Find Now

Bob and I recently purchased another piece for our store.
Instead of telling you right away,
I decided to make a mini game out of it.
I will show you some picture clues.
See if you can guess what we found.
It is a a piece of furniture.

Here are the clues.

Sometimes you would need these...only for custard ones.

Sometimes you might want to use this.
I'm thinking for strawberries and cherries

Can you guess yet?

Three tiered plate rack.

That was a really good clue. :-)

Definitely need this.

Now I hope you figured out what we have,
cause I have no more pics to show. LOL

Here it is...

Isn't this an awesome pie safe!

Another angle.

The sides are screened.

It is really hard not to keep everything we find
however if I kept everything...
we would not have room to walk in our house
and we would never make any money.
So I have to part with some stuff...
but it really is hard sometimes.

Spring Blessings to all!

Friday Fun Facts

Once again here are the Friday Fun Facts.

1. You can make diamonds by heating tequila to over 1400F.
(Wish I had some tequila and a really big stove)

2. Black pepper was once so valuable it was used as money.
(Wish it still was, cause I have plenty of pepper around)

3. Figure skating used to be considered a men's sport only.
(My how times have changed)

4. All cows in the world have different patterns of spots.
Not a single one has them identical to another.
(Being on the farm I know this is true)

5. You are 2.5 times more likely to die of a heart attack or
stroke if you are a regular complainer.
(Hopefully none of you are chronic complainers....)

6. There are between 5000 and 7000 bank robberies
each year in the United States.
(This is a sad statistic)

Have a great weekend everyone!
Blessings to all.

Tuesday Treasures

Well I could not call it Monday Montage.
Sorry, I am late with this.
Dentist appt. yesterday afternoon.
Found out I have a cavity in a my wisdom tooth.
Really???
Who gets a cavity in their wisdom tooth?
I do it seems.
Once I got home and ate....well... I was just too tired to post.

Therefore, we now have
Tuesday Treasures!  :-)

Here are pics from the show.

First a few are from our booth.

The next pics are a few goodies I scoped out.

Horlicks Bottle with original lid.

Angelus Marshmallows Tin.

Prim Desk.

Child's Desk.

Beautiful Blue Tin Trunk.

Large Egg Crate.

Vintage Ginger Ale Syrup Bottle.

Vintage Planters Peanut Store Jar.

 A few ideas for candles.

One of my antique friends made these fun signs using vintage license plates.
She had all kinds of signs for your prim garden.
What do you think?

Finally
You know I had to buy something for ME....

I purchased the Arbuckles
Roasted Coffee Box for my kitchen.
I simply loved the patina!

What do you think?
Did you spot a favorite you would have liked?

Blessings to all

Friday Fun Facts

Today will be a busy day for Bob and I
as we get ready for our Bi-Annual
antique show which is sponsored
by our antique club
Blue Water Antique Dealers Association
or fondly known as BWADA

If you get the chance to come out
we will be setting up our prims at
New Haven High School
57700 Gratiot Ave
New Haven, MI  48048

Show Hours
Sat 10am to 5pm
Sun 10a to 4pm

This is not an exclusive primitive show
however there are several dealers
who will be there with prims.

Hope to see you there!
Bob and I will be in the gym.
I will be sure to take pictures.

On to Friday Fun Facts

1. Mozart composed over 625 works in his lifetime.
(that's a lot of music)

2. Our eyes are always the same size from birth.
(this is why we think baby's have such big eyes)

3. Johnny Depp always flies in private jets so he can
smoke during the flight.
(I really like Johnny Depp, but I really hate cigarette smoke)

4. A study was found that hugging can lower your blood pressure.
(get to hugging everyone!)

5. Your computer mouse is 3 times more filthier than your toilet.
(YUK..YUK..Triple YUK)

6. 95% of people use to believe that the moon
was following their car when they were kids.
(I admit that I was one of those kids...still think it does. LOL)

Well that does it for another Friday.
Happy Friday the 13th to all.
I have a friend who will not leave her house ever
on a Friday the 13th...she is that superstitious.

Blessings to all

April 15, 1912

I'm sure most of you know what this date means.
For those who do not,
100 years ago the Titanic sank in the Atlantic Ocean.

Bob and I purchased this first edition book
on a recent pick we went on.
When I first picked up the book,
chills went all over me,
because I knew this book was written the year the mighty ship sank.

It was the only authoritative book written
constructed from the real facts of those who survived.
I'm getting chills again just writing about this.
The picture on the left is the captain.

Copyright 1912 by L.T. Myers

Dedication

To the 1635 souls who were lost with the
ill-fated Titanic, and especially to those
heroic men, who instead of trying to
save themselves, stood aside that women
and children might have their chance; of
each of them let it be written, as it was
written of a Greater One---
"He Died that Others might Live"

I want to read this book, but I know
it will make me cry.

On another note,
one of our local museums
"The Henry Ford"
in Dearborn, Michigan
currently has the Titanic Exhibition
In this exhibit there is a replica of the grand staircase,
replicas of state rooms and actual artifacts taken from
the Titanic.
It will be on exhibit from now until September.
Bob and I are planning on going one day soon.

Please take a moment to remember those who lost their lives
"on the unsinkable ship"
 as the captain had stated
before sailing on that fateful cruise.

Blessings to all
Janice

Just Blame Me

Its all my fault...

It snowed overnight in my neck of the woods
here in Michigan.

These are the snow clouds just leaving
our area this morning,
and the sun was trying to peek out.

Someone must have told Mother Nature
that I was at the drawing board
working on some Winter goodies.

I still need to put the white berries on this guy.
How does Alabaster F Winterberry sound for a name?
The "F" stands for Flurries.

Then I started this guy...

He is not quite finished...
Not sure what expression he should wear
Then I might put a vest on him...
Decisions
 Decisions

Well after many hours of explaining to
Mother Nature
that I needed a jump start on my Winter goodies for our store
she took pity on us.

She ended our day like this!

Winter Blessings..oops I mean
Spring Blessings to all
Sorry Mother Nature...
I promise not to be bad again.
