Today I wanted to share the rugs
I currently have up on my wall.

Up first is one I participated in a hook
along with Saundra one year.
This one I hooked in memory
of our kitty Peppers.
Another hook along with Saundra.
This one was called Dancing Rabbits.
I drew this out myself and hooked.
Wanted to do a house which is hanging
from a rusty wire.
An adaptation from an antique one I saw.
The majority of this was hooked
at my mom's for 2 weeks, while
our bathroom was being re-modeled.
I stayed with mom and drove to work
from her house those weeks.
Added in fabric towards the base of the vase.
Finally another one I drew myself.
Again added in fabric all around
the vase after the hooking was done.
Most of my friends thought this one was
an antique. I might be the antique,
but the rug is not. LOL
In other news,
sorry President Trump but I will
never call Lake Ontario, Lake America.
I know why he is doing it... but still
it will be Lake Ontario in my book.
This is how we kids learned how
to memorize our Great Lakes.
H- Lake Huron
O- Lake Ontario
M- Lake Michigan
E- Lake Erie
S- Lake Superior
Hames to me is too close to saying HAMAS.
It will remain Lake Ontario for me.
I also keep forgetting to answer Saundra's question.
One other person retired after me,
while the others quit and went elsewhere.
Unfortunately the top execs had this fool idea
of changing things up.
Without going into detail us workers
knew this would not work.
It is just a sad situation where
the top brass has no clue what the bottom
folks do...nor do they really care.
It is all about the bottom line.
Just glad I am outta there.

From south of the border - it will always be Lake Ontario to me as well. Same for Gulf of Mexico. It's the same here for many businesses - even more so for companies that are bought up by private equity companies.

Your hooked rugs are very pretty up on the walls. I made a bunch of them years ago but I used them as rugs. Maybe I should have hung them up :). I gave most of mine away.

ReplyDeleteGood evening ,I sooo enjoyed seeing your hooked rugs thanks for sharing with us I love Trump too but not crazy with the name change either-I grew up near Lake Michigan so we needed to learn the names of all those lakes too. Lake Ontario was named way before Canada was a country.in the early 17th century so I don't like the name change either on this one.

ReplyDeletePresident Trump LOVES to do things to aggravate the left and he is very successful at it 🤣🤣🤣. But no matter what he does, it aggravates them 🤦♀️. I too remember the Great Lakes by the acronym HOMES.
I really enjoyed seeing your rugs, Janice! My favorite is the bunny one that you drew yourself--love the colors. My grandmother had several hooked rugs that I've always wondered what happened to them... I do have one small round one of hers that looks very, very old. I keep it displayed with her small antique black child's stove and a very rustic handmade cupboard made by my great-grandfather (child sized with small teacups and plates in it)--a tribute to a very special lady :)

Your rugs aren't just beautiful, they hold many memories for you of the where and when of their creation. So pretty! I'm with you on the Lake America thing. I'm so over all politics. I just want to hide out in my little corner of America and relax!
