Back towards the end of July,
I was not in the best of moods.
Knowing my mom's days were numbered
had me in a funk.
At that time someone came into the store
to sell Bob some items.
He brought them home and my mood
changed from sad to happy....
for at least a day.
The first item was this Treenware
lidded wooden trinket box.
Second was this brown stoneware
candle holder from the Civil War era.
Finally this children's horse.
Look at the detail in this fur.
Just amazing.
Some little child had fun riding this steed.
Hubby Bob knows me so well.
It was a wonderful pick me up.
In other news,
Saturday morning we had some
unexpected funnel clouds drop from
a thunderstorm into the water nearby.
Folks all over the mainland and islands
were taking pictures of these waterspouts.
Scary if you ask me because they could
have continued on land...
which one did on an uninhabited island.
We had no severe thunderstorm watches or warnings.
No tornado watches or warnings.
Nothing, zero, nada.
of the waterspouts (tornado).
This same storm passed directly over our house.
Another storm knocked out power
at the storm a half hour before closing,
so Bob came home early that day.
Thankfully it happened later in the day.
Heading today to my brother's.
Hope to stop at Tim Horton's
for my first pumpkin spice Iced Capp.
The one thing I miss about going to work.
I would treat myself to Tim Horton's.
I eat breakfast at home now.
Hoping everyone is enjoying their week thus far.
Wonderful Blessings To All!
Janice

That Bob is good! He brought you some really nice things.
ReplyDeleteThe waterspouts are scary.
We had a Tim Hortons in our town and it closed this summer. :(
Oh you lucky gal! Now you've two wonderful horses. But this one is my fav.
ReplyDeleteOh, Lauren will be envious of your treenware for sure.

What a beautiful, thoughtful surprise from Bob. Those lovely items were a true gift to your spirit, and the exact comfort and lift you needed after everything you had been going through. By sharing that moment here, you shared a memory, and one that will bring a smile to your face and warmth to your heart every single time you look at them.
ReplyDeleteOh, I loved seeing the goodies that your husband brought home, Janice. That horse is truly amazing--have never seen anything like it! Waterspouts scare me! We were actually out on a sailboat when one appeared not too far away and I was terrified. Luckily, it stayed away from our boat. Enjoy your day!
ReplyDeleteOh such happy finds! A sweet pick me up indeed I’m always looking for civil war era items since the house was built in 1864. Amazing - the weather can be scary at times - that photo is really something . Glad to hear you’re all safe. Take care and enjoy the pumpkin spice!
ReplyDeleteAwesome buys by your husband, cool photo-no storms here a bit of a cool down but we could use a good rain here Have a good new week hugs Kathy
ReplyDeleteWhat treasures from hubby. The horse is too wonderful.
ReplyDeleteThe waterspout would be a sight to see but scary for sure.
We have had severe thunderstorm warnings. Lots of booms and lightening then nary a drop of rain!
You some really great things. My favorite is the candle holder!!
ReplyDeleteGlad you were safe from the storm.
How sweet of Bob. Those treasures would lift my spirits as well - and for more than just a day. ;-) I love each and every one. Scary weather there but I'm glad it left you unscathed. We are still so, so, dry here. We had a few drops tonight but, literally, not enough to even make my windshield wipers come on.
ReplyDeleteGiving Bob a big hug for cheering you up. :-)
ReplyDeleteWe finally received some rain last night. Thank goodness, we were getting very crispy here.
He knows you well...💙
ReplyDeleteI love that candle holder. That waterspout is amazing.
ReplyDeleteTHose waterspouts are almost as scary as a tornado to me. We've had them at the lake too and they can do a ton of damage. Those are wonderful new finds!
ReplyDeleteWow some nice finds.
ReplyDeleteThat funnel cloud is scary. Glad everyone is safe
Cathy
Lovely, happy treasures from your dear husband, what could be better,,,bet he just knew they would give you a bit of lift ! The items are wonderful, especially the horse. I think everyone’s been getting strange weather. Happy day, Virginia
ReplyDeleteOh WOW lucky you! All those items are wonderful. I'd smile too
ReplyDeleteI am glad you all are safe from the funnel clouds. Weather is scary but amazing to look at. I love the wonderful finds your hubby found. The horse is so charming.
ReplyDeleteGreat pieces! No one here will consign, purchase for cheap, or offer advice on downsizing primitives.
ReplyDeleteWas the weather reporter out to lunch that day??? Geez.
Never had a TIm Horton anything, they weren't open here for long. We have two Starbucks and three Dunkins, a local roaster with wonderful ($$$$) drinks, and we're getting three more coffee shops. Coffee drinks have taken over. So many young girls buying them and they aren't cheap!
ReplyDeleteThe box , the candle holder , and that sweet little horse are sure mood changers! How wonderful of your husband!
Those water spouts do look scary! I have never heard of Tim Hortons.
Your husband is so thoughtful and wise in choosing the perfect gifts! I have never heard of Tim Hortons.
ReplyDeleteJust stopping by your blog for the first time. It's a pleasant place to visit. Love your primitives.
