Sunday Starts

Now that I am retired I decided
to start two more samplers.

First one is Jeny Brimer
by Milady's Needle.

I will be adding in my grandparents names
for this one for my heritage wall.

The next one I chose was
Elizabeth Manners 1843.
I wanted to do this one to place next
to  Sarah Casey Unwin which is  below.

With the biblical sayings on each,
this will be my mini blessings wall.

My first day start I stitched
a little bit of the border and the angel.

The angel was suppose to be this pink color.
I chose DMC 3779 which is the peach.
Did not want a pink angel.
I may work on this one more than the others,
as I want to make sure they have
the same frame color like the other one.
Will see though...I may change my mind. LOL

In other news,
Well one full week of retirement under my belt.
Bob asked me how it felt to be retired now.
I told him right now it just feels like
I am on vacation.
It may take a bit to sink in for me.

Tomorrow Bob and I are meeting my brother
at my mom's house.
We are finished cleaning and now we
want Bob to see if he can sell anything
in our store before we contact
my friend to do the estate sale.
She knows we own an antique store,
so there will be no hard feelings.
She also knows we need to get as much money
as we can for my mom's care.

Hopefully it will be a nice day today so
Tundra and I can spend some time outside.
Unfortunately he found a bunny nest yesterday,
and proceeded to grab the only one left.
Bob told me it had all of its fur, but died.
He also put some pallets around the area,
so Tundra can no longer snoop,
but he thinks he was too late.

Happy stitching, crafting or Hooking Blessings To All!
Janice

  1. Good morning, always enjoy seeing your stitching projects. Hoping the estate sale goes well-that is always a rough one. I always remembered my Grandma's estate sale.
    Happy new week hugs Kathy

  2. I really like the Elizabeth Manners and it goes so well with Sarah Casey Unwinn.
I hope all goes well with your brother and then the estate sale. It will be good to be done with all that.

  3. Guess you are like me with having a 'plus one' to work on when the other gets boring.
Janice, it will never sink in that you are retired, it will always feel like a weekend, holiday or vacation to you. Enjoy!!! Oh, and you will get to the point that you won't know what day of the week it is, lol.

  4. I guess Tundra was doing his instinct. One week and it feels like vacation. It will take a while. Good luck on getting the items sorted at your mother's.

  5. Great sampler choices! Hopefully your retirement will be more productive than mine 🤦‍♀️
I had no idea you had made so much progress at your mom’s house. You can breathe a big sigh of relief once the estate sale is done!

  6. Hi Janice! I'm so happy to have found your blog and will add you to my blog list so I can visit again :) Thank you for your comment yesterday on Stitching Dreams--always happy to see who is visiting my blog. First of all--congratulations on your retirement! I retired almost 9 years ago (hard to believe) and have really enjoyed it. Love your sampler progress and I totally agree with your peach angel choice! Have a wonderful Sunday!

  8. You’ve been working hard to get the house accomplished – I’m sure it was exhausting and emotional. Glad to see your beautiful stitching, put your feet up and relax you’ve earned it!

  9. I like both of your sampler starts...I have Jenny Brimer so obviously I like that one a lot. It will be fun to see how you work in the family names. I may have to copy you. Wow - you made quick work of getting your mom's house together. It took us a long, long, time...and then we did the sale ourselves. And even that didn't go fast. We decided to do several weekend sales and then one big final sale. It has stormed and rained a LOT last night and this morning and it's supposed to start in again later. Tomorrow they are saying really bad storms - wind/hail and possibly a tornado. How we can go from 31" of snow to tornados in a matter of weeks stupefies me.

  10. Congratulations on your retirement. You may find that you get busier after retiring. I'm glad that you made a lot of progress on getting your mom's house ready for sale. Your new samples are going to be lovely.
    Hugs,
    Julia

  11. I am sending prayers regarding your mom's house. It will hopefully all go smoothy and less stress will be on the way.

I always like seeing your projects.
    Happy New Week!

  12. That's smart about your mom's house. After all, the antique shop SHOULD get first dibs! And is there anything wrong with permanent vacation? Just think how much time you'll have to be creative!

  13. Great solution having brother live there. Never thought about a pallet. That allows them to get out the sides and back in for safety. Hope it works. We've used vapo rub in a sealed container with holes. Several feet away. The scent throws them off and burns sensitive noses. Worked for us around tree trunks for nesting birds too.
