The Heart Of Christmas

We continue the tour to our kitchen.
In our family homes,
the kitchen is always the heart.

A simple arrangement on the table.

When family comes over I switch to my
Christmas tablecloth.

View looking in to our living room on the one side.

More egg carton Santa's.

With a little bit of Santa cheer.

Now the other side looking again into our living room.

Decided this year to add a display
on top of the white cabinet.

I normally don't do anything here.
Added in some poinsettias and lights.
Stockings on the peg rack.

The blue cabinet holds our crockpots.
Yes we have two.
Bob uses one to cook chicken for Tundra
our spoiled Samoyed.
The top of this cabinet also is where I keep my
glass coffee jars filled with flour,
 sugar and brown sugar.
Inside all of my baking utensils and pans.

In other news,
It reach a balmy 18 degrees yesterday.
Going outside now,
the snow crunches underneath.

Lots of going on this week.
Dinner with friends tonight.

Wednesday dinner with
 my daughter Michele.
Also with Mikey and Mikalya; the grands.
It is my belated birthday dinner.
Michele was sick on my birthday...
but now Mikayla will be back from college
for Christmas break so will be nice
to see her too.

Thursday I have my final work party.
It will be bittersweet for me seeing everyone
one last Christmas party.
We all work in different locations,
so we only get to see one another via
conference calls and our Christmas party.

Friday my mom is coming.
She will be staying with us thru New Years.
She may get kicked out of therapy
as she is still refusing to do anything at my sister's.
Am hoping she cooperates with me.
She is withdrawing which is not good.

Well off to work.
Hope everyone is enjoying
the pre Christmas season.
Only 10 more days.

Heart Of Christmas Blessings To All!
Janice

  2. Happy Belated Birthday. I hope you have a good time with your family. Enjoy your last Christmas party. My mom got kicked out of a nursing home...she was calling the therapists Natzis because they were making her do stuff she didn't want to do....
Your home has so many hard to find primitive pieces. What an investment you made all those years of collecting.

  3. I know you love your mom and have enjoyed your antiquing together. Just hope the holiday stay with you doesn't develop into lifelong stay, for your sake. Caretaking should be shared among the siblings to give each a break.

    Enjoy your birthday supper!
I'm sorry your mom is still refusing to work on the PT. It's so hard to see our parents decline.

  6. Good luck with your mom. And how wonderful to see the gang. Please tell Mikayla that if she ever needs to get away from campus, you have a friend who lives fairly close! It sounds like she had a very bad year. I loved your home. So beautiful.

  10. Loved this part of the tour too! Great subtle touches of holiday cheer. TWO crockpots??? Say it ain't so!! LOL...(I don't think I could accurately count how many I actually have although I do know that, on one shelf in one cupboard alone, I have 5?? One needs different sizes for different things, right?? Eeek....and I don't even do much crockpot cooking....) Hope things go smoothly with having your mum over the holidays. I imagine you have a bit of trepidation. Hoping the fact that she's spent so much time with you at your home previously will ease her restless spirits.
