The Graduate

 Good morning friends,
In the midst of dealing with my mom's
latest health issue,
Bob and I attended my sweet granddaughters
graduation party last Sunday.

Congratulations to Mikayla.

Here she is in her cap and gown.
School colors are red and white.
At graduation the girls wore white,
while the boys wore red.
Am not sure why she decided to add
tint to her hair that day.
I told her she should have done it in
a red though to match her school colors.

One of her baby pictures on the left.

One of the many awards she received.
Her school name was Chippewa Valley.

My daughter decided to add the college colors
she will be attending for the dessert table.
Michigan State University.
I took this picture way before all of
 the desserts were put out.

Mikayla reports to Michigan State University
on August 19th.

In other news,
My mom had an orthopedic appointment
yesterday morning.
I met the courtesy van there.
The doctor told her that at a minimum
her shoulder will take 3 months to heal.
It also may never heal.
Her only other option would be to do
shoulder replacement surgery.
However the doctor did not recommend
this at all because of my mom's age.
She still cannot walk.
In therapy they are just having her ride a bike
and having her stand with assistance
for a few minutes.
Am hoping she is able to walk...
otherwise us kids will have to make some decisions.

We finally got our new privacy fence yesterday too.
Will need to take a pic of it at some point.

Bob also celebrated his birthday yesterday.
We went out for dinner after I was done working.
Ate outside at this restaurant along our river.
There was a nice breeze and it was not hot at all.

It was also very hazy all day
due to the Canadian wildfires again.
Am hoping it goes away today.

Well off to work.
Hope everyone is enjoying
 their August weather thus far.

Post Graduation Blessings To all!
Janice

  1. Am confused why she can't walk since it was the shoulder that was injured. Can she not walk due to the pain discomfort or paralysis?

  2. What a nice party! Congratulations to Mikayla. Our schools colors are also red and white; and our girls wore white, the boys wore red. :)
    Happy Birthday to Bob!
I'm sorry your mom and all of you are going through this. Praying the therapy is effective in helping her walk again.

  3. Congratulations to the graduate and what an exciting time for Mikayla’s young life. Sorry to hear about your mom. I hope therapy helps and she starts walking which is key. After a certain age if they don’t use it they lose it.
The nice dinner by the river sounds perfect minus the wildfire smoke!

  8. Congratulations - and best wishes - to Mikayla. (But I hope she's not taking a microwave to college with her LOL...) My high school colors were red and white too...as were my undergrad university's, so no "change" necessary. Happy Birthday to Bob.... gosh, didn't he just have one??? Tell him to slow down!!

  10. So many good things -- Happy Birthday to Bob and Happy Graduation to your grand. Always happy to welcome another Spartan to town! But you must be terribly concerned about your mom. The walking will be essential and I hope she can pull that off.

  12. Congrats on graduation and happy birthday wishes! So much going on! Your days are certainly busy. Hoping your mom heals quickly, shoulders can be tricky. I slipped on the ice, probably 10 years ago, too stubborn to go to the doctor, but my shoulder ached for a very long time. Now I never notice it unless I’m in the driver’s seat and reach into the backseat for something - then I get a painful twinge - you’d think I would learn by now! The old cupboard is almost done, I know - I hated to have it painted-maybe someday I’ll strip it down. Looking forward to your input in how old you think it might be - the history of pieces always fascinates me. Have a good week!

  13. Congratulations to your Granddaughter and happy birthday to your hubby! I hope she enjoys her college experience. These kiddos sure grow up fast! Of course you know that Ohio State and Michigan State are rivals. But I'm not from Ohio so I really don't care! Ha! I'm sorry your Mom is struggling and hopefully she will get better with her walking. It's tough when our parents go through such trials. Prayers for her and for you and your family while dealing with this.
