With Spring just around the corner...
hopefully...
I decided to start a bigger project.
This one is called Floral Motif Sampler
by The Scarlett House
I started with the border in black.
Stitched across the top and down
the left side halfway.
Then started on the first flower.
Almost finished with the first flower.
Some flowers will be smaller than others,
so may be able to tackle more than one
when I pick it up again.
Stitching this on 36ct Edinburg linen
with all of the called for floss.
My latest Patriotic stitch
is Parade Sammy
by Calico Confectionery.
Stitching this on 32 ct Flax.
Using all the called for DMC floss,
except 311.
Using DMC 336 instead for the navy blue.
Sammy's eyes were suppose to be the
lighter blue.
I opted to do mine in the darker blue.
His mouth was suppose be red...I chose black.
In other news,
well my sister did it again.
Her snarky attitude with the caregiver,
caused their manager to call my brother.
The manager told him she did not want
my sister berating or talking to her
employees anymore.
This is the second time my sister
has ran her mouth.
My mom has only been in her studio
My mom has only been in her studio
for 6 weeks.
My sister did apologize...but too late.
She is not liked by them any longer.
The first time she went off...
and apologized she bought them gift cards.
Now my brother is going to buy them
gift cards and will tell them
my sister is not to speak to them anymore.
We hope she stops.
It was so terribly windy Friday night that
I became restless and got out of bed.
Ended up sleeping on the couch.
The winds were 25mph with gusts higher.
Saturday morning we noticed that
our heavy metal old wheelbarrow was
moved at least 30 feet from where we had it
in our flower bed.
Even our antique copper boiler full of dirt
was tossed in our driveway.
Thankfully it did not hit our vehicles.
Well I am down to 2 more weeks of sabbatical
before going back to work one final week
to retirement.
It is going by really fast.
Hope everyone is enjoying their weekend.
Calm Sunday Blessings To All!
Janice

Am sure you are looking forward to final retirement. Would be great if you could enjoy the time with your crafts and other interesting things. Hopefully family issues will be in calmer waters by then.
ReplyDeleteThat 3 weeks will fly by. Wow on your sister. It's even more distressing since your mom seems to like the studio IIRC. I'd not be surprised if the next call from the facility is she's been banned from setting foot inside. Good for the manager trying to protect her workers.
ReplyDeleteThat Floral Motif Sampler will be drop dead gorgeous! Love, love, love it! And of course who doesn’t love a patriotic stitch?
ReplyDeleteHopefully your sister has earned a lesson…but sadly it doesn’t sound like she will have.
So close to official retirement. Yeah for you 👏👏
Your stitching is so nice! Oh my your sister!!! Sounds like a "Karen" to me. (wink). Oh you're down to the wire now!
ReplyDeleteJanice, I'm sorry your sister is being a pain. I guess she just can't help herself but she better, or they may have to totally ban her.
ReplyDeleteWow retirement is now within your grasp - you're going to love it!
Oh how I wish I had learned to stitch. The pieces are so intricate and you do excellent work.
Your starts are beautiful!!
ReplyDeleteOh no, that is too bad about your sister!!!
Oh Janice - first off: terrific Sunday starts as always! Second, why must people stir the pot, as the saying goes? If she keeps this up, she won’t be allowed back in. And the wind - unbelievable here as well. We’re getting round two right now. Take care!
ReplyDeleteThree weeks to go - I am excited for you.
ReplyDeleteSounds like your sister is having problems accepting what is going on with your mother. I do feel bad for her - I hope she settles down and starts accepting things better.
I wonder what is at the bottom of your sister behavior? She's certainly not at peace with herself or with anyone for that matter. I hope that she will learn from this and behave.
ReplyDeleteYour cross stitch work are beautiful. The floral is such a big project.
So close to retirement... The time will fly by quickly.
Hugs,
Julia
Love your Sammy! I love July4th and that's a really cute pillow. We had strong winds too...about 60m an hour and we ended up with no power for 2 days! We're an all-electric house so that meant no water, heat, or internet. We really should invest in a generator! Anyway, all good now but the wind is up again today and it's making me nervous! Sorry about the sister drama. I hope it calms down so your Mom can live in peace with her care givers. Have a good week Janice and enjoy the final 2 until the real retirement starts!
ReplyDelete3 weeks will fly by. What your sister doesn't understand that that kind if help is very hard to get. Sorry she is feeling frustrated.
ReplyDeleteYour stitching pieces are wonderful as always.
Cathy
Once again, I love your new starts. The floral motif design is beautiful. My SIL did it and it’s stunning. A lot of stitching but, at the rate you stitch, it will be done in no time. Sammy’s cute too…like the changes you made…the mouth in red was kinda creepy. Sad about your sister’s behavior. Makes one wonder what she will be like should she ever find herself in your mother’s position. Woe to her. Wind makes me very anxious - I think I’ve mentioned that many times on my blog. Today was - and tonight is - NUTS. 50 mph winds whipping all this snow around. I can’t get out the back door because the snow is stacked so high it won’t open…Can’t get out the front because of the wind. It’s going to be another long night…and tomorrow isn’t looking any better.
ReplyDeleteGood morning the wind has been howling here all night too-too dark at the moment to look outside. the wind brought bitter cold back-low teens so far no snow though thank goodness.
ReplyDeleteI am loving your newest projects. and so happy for you-countdown to retirement hugs
Sorry about your sister acting the way she is-surprised they have not banned her from visiting
Have a good new week ahead
That wind is a fright, isn't it? We had it too but nothing like what happened to you. And your new sampler is a wow! When you go big, you go BIG! I'm so sorry you have to deal with the mechanics of your sister and her opposition to everything. All the more surprising given that when your mom was living with her, I don't recall it going so well. I really feel for you, Janice. Sometimes I wish I'd had a sibling when my dad was in that position but I've heard (and seen) enough stories about those who do that found some of the situations far more challenging and emotionally fraught when there is one in the group who is acting as your sister does. Hang in there. You and your brother are lifesavers.
ReplyDeleteMy galvanized tubs were blown out of wheelbarrows, but no snow. Until today. Sorry about your sister. Hopefully that will be the end of it.
ReplyDeleteHello Janice,
ReplyDeleteWe survived the mid-west blizzard!! 15 inches of snow for us. My friend Lori lives 2 hours east of us, they got 25.5 inches.
I am so sorry about your sister. All of this is so stressful for families, you do not need bad attitudes too.
Sending a hug,
Carla
