Hello friends!
I have two finishes to show you today.
When I first showed you all my blessings sampler,
this is where I was.
The pattern was a freebie from La D Da
called Letters & Leaves.
Here is my finish.
I chose this striped fabric for my back.
Sewed this into my first sampler pillow.
If you notice the letter "W" is missing.
It was not on the pattern.
I was debating whether to add it in or not,
but chose to leave it off.
For now it will reside here.
Need to stitch more now.
I would like to make lots more to go
into a bowl.
As always it is rag stuffed.
Marly from Sampler and Santas
places her pillows on shelves.
I do not have wall space for that
which is a great idea, so a bowl it is for me.
My second finish was my Blessing Sampler
from last year.
I only finished stitching it and tucked it away.
This was Robert Burns Sampler, Auld Lang Syne
by The Sampler Girl.
I backed this wee pillow with a piece
of red fabric from stash which I coffee stained.
WOOHOO!
In other news,
our main road sucked Monday morning.
We had Dr. appts. to get to.
Plus our snowblower would not work.
Bob shoveled before we left.
I had errands to do for my mom.
Needed to get minutes on her phone.
Also needed to purchase a few more things
for her studio.
Right after I got home,
my sister texted me saying she already
got a few things.
Am ticked at her because she knew I was
getting these items,
We went over the list last Saturday...
and it was agreed I would get everything....
but thats my sister the controlling one. UGH
My stores are not just around the corner,
like hers are.
Will be glad when my mom is moved in.
My stress level will go down.
Even the doctor said he could hear
my heart murmur more pronounced this time.
I told him it was the cold weather... but it is stress.
Bob and I decided to go to dinner
afterwards that day.
There was a little boy who told the waitress
it was his birthday and he was 7.
He and his parents and sister were sitting
in the booth behind us.
I asked Bob for a couple of dollars.
When we were leaving I stopped at
their booth and said, "I heard it was somebody's
birthday today. He smiled and said it was him.
I handed him a dollar and said Happy Birthday
to him. I then handed another dollar bill
to his smaller sister and told her I was giving
her this just because.
Their mom said how sweet and told them
to thank me.
I just smiled and we walked away.
I love seeing kiddos smile.
It makes my day!
Bad news now.
My SIL passed away early this morning.
Her heart gave out.
My brother could use some prayers.
This new year has not been good for my family.
Blessings To All!
Janice

Since those stores weren't close to you it was a good thing she picked up those needed items. I still have some of that same dark red stripe fabric in my stash. Sorry for the loss of family.
ReplyDeleteI'm so very sorry to hear about your sister-in-law. A loss like thta is always so hard. My sympathies. I think you are right about the stress -- please do what you can to keep that in check (and yes, I know how hard it is under the circumstances -- I've been there!). I love what you did for the birthday boy and his sister!
ReplyDeleteYou really have had a hard season. I'm sorry about your SIL and frustrated with your sister. I hope things settle with your mom now.
ReplyDeleteI love your finishes! And I know that surprising that little boy and his sister made you just as happy as it did them.
I hope your snow blower is fixed quickly, this snow and cold can end anytime!
Hi Janice,
ReplyDeleteI am sending prayers.
Thank you for the fun story about the little ones at the restaurant, that made me smile.
And yes, Ernie is coming along with our 52 dates, he just did not make the photo this time. ;-)
Love and prayers,
Carla
I am so sorry. I will keep your brother in my prayers. It has been a hard month for a lot of people. So sorry it is affecting your health.
ReplyDeleteCathy
Oh I'm so sorry and will say a prayer for your family.
ReplyDeleteThe pillows are so pretty. I like them both. Wonder why the pattern didn't have a W.
I'm sure you feel so much better once your mom is settled!!!
I love sampler pillows!!!!
ReplyDeleteSweet finishes.
ReplyDeleteI hope mom’s move goes smoothly.
I’m sure you made that little boy’s day.
So sorry to hear of your sil’s passing. Prayers for your brother and all your family!
Oh your samplers are so cute. Oh no about your SIL I will pray for your brother. Hugs.
ReplyDeleteGood evening, I love your newest finishes I really love making stitches into pillows-we only have so many walls-smiles. I wonder why the pattern left out that letter-did they not use it in the time period?
ReplyDeletesorry about the stress concerning your Mom these situations are tough. at least your Mom as family to help her
I'm so sorry for the loss of your SIL. What a time you've had these past months. Praying for better days ahead and for your brother. Good luck with your Mom's move. Take care Janice.
ReplyDeleteGreat finishes Janices! I love both of these patterns and would likely search them out if I actually seemed to get any stitching (or hooking) time in these days. I have been/still am under the weather but was way behind on everything way before so it only gets worse. I hope someday I'll be able to pick up a needle/hook again. I'm so sorry to read of your SIL's passing. I pray she is finally at peace and that, in time, your brother finds some as well.
ReplyDeleteI missed this post. Oh I'm so sorry about the passing of your SIL. Prayers to your brother. So sad.
