Stocking Stuffer

 When I was a youngster,
every Christmas we were given candy canes
in our stockings.
I also remember receiving them from
 Salvation Army bell ringers,
after seeing Santa,
in school by our teachers,
and of course my grandparents.
Not those mini ones, but the regular ones.

While I was crocheting this peppermint,
I thought now I only use peppermints
(candy canes)
for my hot chocolate.
I no longer just eat them.

This peppermint is non fat. LOL

For sale in our gift shop to be used as a candle mat.
We also sell the candles.
70 different scents.
We started selling these soy candles 14 years ago
at our antique booth and then in our antique store
before opening up the gift shop.
We did not carry as many back then though.

Now for the stocking part of my post.

I purchased this antique coverlet piece from Ebay.

Trust me, I would NEVER cut up a coverlet
of my own.

I drew out a stocking pattern.

I love how each stocking will sew up.

I was able to sew up 5 stockings.

With this coverlet piece, the stockings
will be perfect on my tree!

The hanger was also from the antique piece.
I have a bit left...small pieces, so I have to think
of something to make with them.

Am getting really excited about the Christmas season.

In other news.
As we approach Veteran's day on Friday,
please take a moment to think about a veteran.
I will be thinking about Sam.
Carla's veteran son from
The riverflowing blog.

Friday both my sister and I will be staying with
my mom and will be taking her out to dinner.
It will be a fun girls night!

  6. I love eating candy canes. Not tons of them but when you start one it lasts so long! Less calories than a mini-candy bar, too! Love the stockings!

Yes, we must be ever grateful to our veterans. Freedom isn't free.

  10. Love the stockings! So cute and I still enjoy a candy cane once in a while. Christmas is coming quickly. This whole year has flown by. I'm still amazed how quick all the months with 31 days fly by but February with only 28 seems to crawl it's slowest to get close to Spring!

  11. Dear Friend,
Thank you for thinking of Sam.
He is doing well. We were able to talk via phone Sunday!! It was great to hear his voice.
There was a bombing close by that was nerve wracking, but so far things are going well. He and his team are now 100% in charge of AFRICOM. The other team that was doing the duties have left to come home to the States.

    Thank you again!!

I still enjoy a real peppermint stick.
    Have a great weekend.

  12. Hi, I wanted to answer your question regarding the time difference with Sam. We are eight hours different.
Thank you again for the prayers.
    Love, Carla
