Log Cabin Christmas

Good morning everyone!
Over the weekend I was
reflecting on my grandma/ grandpa B,
my mom and her siblings
spending their first Christmas
on their farm in a log cabin,
which gave me the inspiration for this display.

The farm was 80 acres,
and was full of red pines and other christmas trees,
among other maples and birch trees.
It even had its own natural spring.

I decided to add bottle brush trees
to look like the cabin in the woods.
The large bottle brush tree
in the back is the newest one I bought.

One bottle brush tree is decorated.

I am still deciding how to decorate the small tree.
For now it has white lights and strips of red stained muslin.

I added gourds for a more primitive look.

Close up view.

Who is peeking through the window?

Makes me almost wish I could have
a real Christmas inside a cabin.
{Almost because I know in reality,
it was not an easy one for my mom}

Once I decorate the tree, will show more pics.

Rain moving in for tonight...
no snow yet.

Log Cabin Blessings To All!

  5. Oh my, you know how I love, love, love log cabins!!! This little vignette you are putting together is just so cute. This little cabin is just as cute as it could be!! Where did you find it?? Despite what living was like back when families lived in log canbins, I too would love to experience living in one and enjoying the holiday season! Your Grandmother must have been very resourceful, like many women were, to start raising a family and making a living in such humble beginnings. It would be awesome if she were still alive to tell the story of that period of her life.

  6. That is so adorable. Right now I have a stuffed animal under my tree but still packed away I have a Christmas train, belongs to my son from his granddaddy when he was young. One day when him and his wife decide to put up a tree I will get it to him. HAHA...now I am wondering if I put it up how the cat would like it?

  7. Janice, I loved the vignette. I bet there were plenty of stories of the log cabin home. Some times I thought my life was tough growing up, but I know my mom's was harder. Blessings to you, xoxo, Susie
