My Love Affair

Good morning friends.
Thought I would do this short post before
I leave for my aunt's funeral.
My mom and I had a nice dinner out last night.
Bob had to go to our antique club meeting.
My son joined my mom and I.
This one restaurant near us has half off dinners
on Wednesday.
I had Prime Rib, mom had Walleye and Matt had Ravioli.
Both my mom and I could only eat half of our meal,
but it was good!

So let me talk about my love affair with color.
Specifically red, white and blues.
All shades of theses colors!

I scored a few weeks back
when I purchased this blue quilt.

I also found this old wood mirror.
Robin over at the Cranky Crow
gave me this idea for our bathroom.
I plan on copying her design when we get
to remodeling ours this year...
and hopefully it will go a bit better that her
WWR Chronicles.
If you would like to read about it,
please visit her blog at

(sorry Robin, but it finally turned out good in the end)

Back to my quilt.
Love the blues and off white.
Can you believe it cost $10.
It was a steal.

I placed it with my others in the back room.

Makes up a bit for the loss of one of my favorite quilts
that Bob sold in the store. We always put one of my
quilts up for display near our window display.
Last month I had brought in a similar quilt to the one I had on display...but mine was better.
Bob called me and asked if the quilt was for sale,
and I said yes, thinking it was the one I put in for sale.
He sold mine on the wall. I was devastated when I found
out which one he really sold.
See I paid $125 for mine and he sold it for $40.
A customer got a really good deal, and I was upset
because I lost my quilt.
I told Bob I would never bring in another of my quilts again.

I also love red.

I finally finished my bedroom curtains.

Red, White and Blue in our bedroom.

What colors do you have a love affair with?

Love Affair Blessings To All!

  1. Hi Janice,
Oh, I'm so sorry your quilt was sold accidentally, but your new quilt is a beauty and quite the bargain!!!
My favorite colors to decorate with are red, black, and mustard, but I also love blue and brown! Sometimes it also can be a seasonal thing, but the first ones are my favorite colors!!
Hope you have a great week and just be sure to make some NFS tags for all those pieces you use for display but don't want to sell!! It will really help!!
    Heart Hugs~

  2. Oh, Janice, I'm sorry about your quilt loss. This blue and off-white quilt is a beauty and you did get it for a great price. I also like the mirror. I enjoyed seeing your pretty curtains. I love red/white/blue very much. Some other favorite color combos are rusty red and mustard gold and brown.

  3. I'm so sorry for your loss, Janice. My thoughts and prayers for your family.

Girl, you scored on your new quilt! It was meant to be since you lost your other one. I don't think I'd risk having any at the shop again either. Also love the pretty fabric you used for your bedroom curtains. Thanks for sharing. Robin has great ideas too, and I'm sure will be honored you loved one of hers to use it. Lori

  4. Your quilt story is heartbreaking...I had the same thing happen at one of the shows, when I was walking around and my husband was left to mind the booth.....not a quilt...but some pieces of ironstone...I was ready to kill him!!! I love your blue and white quilts!!

  5. Awwww, now how sweet are you Missy Janice? (And I completely forgive you now for the dredging up the dry wall dust memories....) Thanks for the shout out, and yes, I am honored that you liked my idea well enough to borrow it. You know the crow in me spied that mirror immediately and was so excited I almost tripped all over myself. ;o) Beautiful quilt...and quite the steal...I have several blue and white quilts and red and white ones...and let me tell you, NONE were even close to $10. And EEEEK about hubby selling your quilt. I'd be heartbroken... My favorite colors? Gotta be blacks/mustards/reds/browns/blues... Guess that's pretty much all of 'em eh? Smiles & Hugs ~ Robin

  8. I can't believe you found this awesome quilt for $10!! I also love those calico blues and Americana hues in dark reds, blues and white. Your new bedroom curtains are a nice addition to the blues and whites. Blue is one of my favorite colors for clothing as well.
