July CupboardScape

Good afternoon Sweet friends.
What better to feature for a July
CupboardScape.

To honor our country
for our Patriotic month,
coverlets in red, white and blue...
with a touch of gold.

Dated coverlets can be found between
the years of 1771 thru 1889.

Coverlets were woven on looms,
not quilted and were placed on top
of bedcovers.

Geometric, Fancy, Floral and even figures
and slogans were made into coverlets.

Since looms were not very wide,
usually two or even three were pieced together
with a center seam.
Even better, they are reversible,
so you get two looks for one.

Since men made coverlets,
a little known fact is if you see a woman
woven into a coverlet, it was
specifically made for the mistress of the
home at the time.

Do you have any coverlets?
If so what does your patterns look like?

Hope you enjoy the rest of your weekend.

July Coverlet Blessings To All!
