Hello my friends.
Since Winter is in full swing
now here in Michigan,
today I decided to show
some previous pics of Winter.
Our keeping room electric heater
keeps us warm at night.
I don't remember when I hooked
this snow fella.
His nose is aged orange fabric
just fold up and stitched down a bit.
His scarf is also some fabric that
I wrapped around from back to front,
then tied a lil bow.
Added three rusty bells.
One year I made paper Winter ornaments.
I love keeping out candles and greens
out for my Winter displays.
Warm mittens my aunt knitted for me.
I could wear these, but I choose
to use them in my displays each year.
In other news,
Bob and I decided to go to the grocery store
the night before the cold temps hit.
Our cashier was checking us out.
She made a comment
"I don't think I can do this anymore."
Then she fell to the floor and hit someone
else's cart in the head.
She had passed out.
It was horrible.
They called for an ambulance right away.
We waited for another cashier to come
finish checking us out.
Was told that she was diabetic and pregnant.
By the time we were leaving the parking lot,
the ambulance was coming in.
I sure hope she is alright.
Saturday morning our actual temp was -18.
It was even so cold that our snow dog
Tundra even whimpered when he went outside.
These past few day have been putting him
on leash to just do his business and then
get him inside.
It is too brutal out there for man and beast.
Also on Saturday us kids went to mom's house.
We took everything she will need for her studio.
She came with us and we let her pick out
small end and side tables, lamps and such.
Once we were finished, we all went to lunch
at her fav restaurant in town.
Today I have the day off, so I will purchase things
she still needs.
Her newly purchased furniture and tv
arrives on Wednesday.
My sister and brother are
going there to set her room all up.
My sister leaves for North Carolina Friday,
so Thursday night mom will stay with us.
I will work from home Friday and afterwards,
my brother and I will take her to dinner...
then take her to her new studio where
she will stay from now on.
Yesterday it snowed from the time I woke up,
until I went to bed.
Bob did not open the store.
Instead he stayed home with me.
He put a fire in our fireplace...
we watched a few old monster movies...
then we watched the football games.
I sure hope everyone is safe with all of the
bad weather across the country.
Monday Mish Mash Blessings To All!
Janice

It has been brutally cold here also woth a wind. How does your mom feel about the move?
ReplyDeleteYour past winter decorations were lovely as always.
I do hope your check out person is ok it sounds awful.
Cathy
Brutally cold here too. Can't believe that I can't stand to be in my garage either. Hope the gal at the grocery store is okay. She probably passed out from low sugar.
ReplyDeleteMonster movies!? During a snow storm sounds perfect.
ReplyDeleteIt is still very lightly snowing here in Vermont.

I love the mitten scape the best. Poor girl, that must have been terrible for her! I'm sure she was too busy to check on herself. I saw pictures where only thing left in/on shelf were like brussel sprouts....(wink, wink). For the record, I like brussel sprouts. Good luck with your mom and her transition. I work with a lot of families in your position. Good job letting her pick out her own things. She may not have control over staying, but she had some in picking what to take.
ReplyDeleteThat's terrible about the cashier, I hope she is alright too.
ReplyDeleteYes, this weather is awful, I'm so ready for Spring!
Glad things are moving along for your mom. Sounds like she's handling it ok since she came along and let kids pick things out.
Prayers for the cashier. How scary.
ReplyDeleteLove all your past winter vignettes.
Hopefully mom will adjust quickly to her new home 🙏🙏. It is so hard watching a mom age. Hugs to you.
First off that first picture speaks RUSTIC BEAUTIFUL COZY TO ME! I love it!!! Oh, that poor lady! I hope she is okay too!
ReplyDeleteStay warm!
I enjoyed the winter decor photos.
ReplyDeleteI hope the cashier is alright. I am praying for her.
I do hope all goes well with your mom.
Ernie is not liking this cold weather. He goes out for a potty very fast!!! And runs back in. ;-)
I always enjoy seeing your decor sounds wonderful for your Mom-hoping she will enjoy being there and meet new friends.
ReplyDeletebrrrr that is super cold we were around 8 below this morning and that was bad. glad you could work at home-much safer stay warm and safe-perhaps you can use some sick days or continue to work at home til the roads are better cleared. stay warm and safe hugs
oh and how frightening for the cashier-hoping her and her baby will alright
DeleteHow awful for the cashier. Sure hope she is alright. Must have been scary to see!
ReplyDeleteI like your. paper ornaments and the mittens are so nice.
You definitely got more snow than we did but it was just as cold. I am so glad things are settling well with your mom and it sounds like the best possible set up. Those mittens and that rug especially make me smile. I hope the cashier will be OK. That had to be frghtening for everyone. Stay cozy, Janice, and don't go out unless you have to!
ReplyDeleteThat is awful about the p regnant, diabetic, and working cashier. It was too much.
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like you are finally getting your mom settled.
When it is too cold for dogs - it is too cold!
BEAUTIFUL winter photos! I especially love the first one - love the Colonial feel (and I, too, love all the greens). Sorry to read of the cashier. Poor woman. Will say a prayer for her and her baby. I am glad things seem to be settling a bit with your mother. Fingers crossed the actual move/transition will go smoothly and provide some calm for all. We've been freakishly cold here too as well...thankfully we didn't get all the snow everyone else did/is. I'm a bit afraid to look at the forecast though.
ReplyDeletePrayers for the checker!! Omgoodness...
ReplyDeleteGlad y'all are getting Mom all set up. Hopefully, she's happy with her new surroundings.
Stay warm!
hugs
Donna
I'm excited for your mom and her new place. I pray she will love it and be happy and content there. That is terrible about the cashier. I hope she is fine. I really like the photo of the knitted mittens. You have a creative flair for decorating.
ReplyDeleteThoughts and prayers to all - Hoping the cashier is well, and that your mom finds peace and calm in her new surroundings. Quite sad I’m sure for her to have to pick and choose what she can take with her - after all everything at home I’m sure has memories and is sentimental. Love the cozy warm look-can you share the heater information when you find time? I love the style , and if it keeps the room warm I’d much rather have that than the modern tower we have!
ReplyDeleteI love your winter pictures! Winter was late coming here, but when it did arrive, it came with a vengeance. Your mom's studio sounds wonderful. I hope she settles in comfortably and loves it there.
ReplyDeleteGood grief I hope someone at her work knows where her emergency diabetic tabs are. Things happen so fast. Hope your mom will settle in quickly and be very happy in her new place. And yes, it's COLD!!!
