Coverlet Pillows

                                               Happy Monday friends!

Well since we had our first snow yesterday,

it has put me in more of a Christmas mood.

A few years back I had purchased a piece

of an antique coverlet piece and made this stocking.

I had a bit left of it, so decided

to make a few pillows a few months back.

I once again used the letters from one
of my antique samplers.

The holly leaf was made from wool
with rusty bells for holly berries.

The back.
you can see where some of the coverlet
 had wear in it.

I was able to create two.
One saying Comfort and Joy
while the other read Sleigh Bells Ring.
Both are already sold.

I was left with a tiny piece,
so I created one for myself
which I finished at the store  yesterday.

This time I used a rusty holly leaf
with more rusty bells.
You can see my stitches around
the cross stitch material.
Also decided to make this one more prim like.

The stores were dead yesterday.
I don't blame anyone for not wanting
to come out.
Heck I would have stayed home myself.
We had rain, snow and a mix all day.
Bob and I di close the stores early.

Do you find yourself creating more
during inclement weather like I did?

After I finished this wee pillow,
I worked on a few hearts.
Right after Christmas at the store,
we change out to our Winter/Valentine theme.
Already have my theme of red and black for this.

Coverlet Pillow Blessings To All!

  2. Cute little treasures. I hope your weather is better today. It's dark and dreary here today. I may make a pumpkin pie today to warm things up.

  3. Oh Janice, these pillows made from that old fabric are really lovely!! I love anything red and the old fashioned feel of these little stitchings just makes it perfect. I was reading the other day about a Scottish term from the Orkney Islands that might fit the feelings you were having yesterday at the store. When the November rainy, cold days set in , the Scots call it Dreich weather. When Dreich weather happens, then the Scots say it is time for "Corrie" which means snuggling up indoors. Stitching adorable pillows seems like a perfect kind of Corrie response to the miserable weather that can happen not only to your area , but to all of our areas in the colder season.

  4. ...Yes, the weather has a bigger influence on me than I care to admit I'm afraid. We were to get snow Saturday night (which we, in fact, did get and is still here...why are the weather people only right when it comes to predicting bad weather???) and I immediately went into "homing/nesting" mode... Ran to town quick to get what I needed to make chili and bake some sourdough cinnamon cranberry bread...and then 'nuggled in and stitched. Speaking of stitching, your little tucks are adorable. Perfect reincarnation for the coverlet scarp. ~Robin~

  5. Hi,
I do like those rusty bells. I have a couple large ones from a wreath I was gifted a few years back. I think I will create a swag with them this season. I am getting into that Christmas decorating feeling.

  6. You put those coverlet pieces to good use indeed. I love the little bit you had leftover that you made into the wee pillow for yourself! What an awful mix of wintry weather you had!

  7. Your pillows are so cute, I can see why they sold! I read your previous post and I do hope sales increase as you get closer to Christmas. Small business day is the Saturday after Thanksgiving so I hope many come into your shop and buy! I find I do more baking as the weather gets cold and snowy. Have a good week!

  8. Oh my gosh, those are amazing! I love them! Yes, crafting, cocoa, cold all go together in my mind. I was set up at a show and Sunday was pretty dead, we had snow too and then the Packer game....so, by about 2 even though the contract says not to, over 1/2 the vendors were packing up....I waited till 3. Have a great week.
