Read A Book Month

March is Read A Book Month.
In honor of this,
Bob and I decided to create
a mini doctor's library for our store window
this month.

Complete with books, medicine bottles
 and a ladder.

We put back in our fireplace
and added medical items.

I can imagine a doctor sitting
in his rocking chair reading a book
by the fire.

With his medical pieces nearby.

Also putting on his favorite record.

This month I want to finish reading the
1912 Titanic book.
It was a book about the survivors account
of the famous ship sinking.
I started reading this book in 2012...
and found it very interesting.
Like there was a fire on board
in the boiler room when they left port.
The coal which was added caught on fire.
If the ship did not sink from the iceberg...
it may have sunk because of this fire.
One will never know.
Such a tragic event.
Now where did I put that book....

Do you like to read?

Read A Book Month Blessings To All!

  1. Great window idea! I read non-fiction almost exclusively...mostly history. However, I am reading The Signature of All Things by Elizabeth Gilbert (Eat, Pray Love). It's a wonderful tale about an 18th and 19th century family of botanists. It's a lovely tale of an earlier time. Have a great week!

  2. Great window display idea! Apothocary so hot here. I've not always been an active reader. It was always a problem for me as a kid, keeping up with the rest of the class in reading. So I regret not doing more of it. But, I have read 1 book and listened to another on tape in January and February. Found the next book I want to read for March. It's about Dale Evans. I like historical or biography - if it's both - win!

  3. I like to read but don't often. If it is a good read, I can't put it down and nothing else gets done...sigh.

  6. I am always interested in antique medical pieces. Having been a nurse all my working life, I am amazed at what was available in earlier times.

REading is a favorite pastime of mine. Right now, I have basket with about 4 books that are in progress and 5 more waiting a turn! LOL!! You can never get enough great book reading done. The odd thing is that even with retirement, I still find it hard to set aside time for just reading. it seems like there are always projects out there and chores calling my attention.

    1. I have a friend who collects early funeral items. She has a full cabin full of it. We sold her an early embalming fluid bottle once. Not my thing, but she loves it. Best get to your basket of reading....have fun! Janice

  7. I love to read, I set a quota and try to live up to it. Your display was really clever. Today's doctors don't ever seem to sit down, maybe they should.

  8. Great display vignette once again Janice! And, oh, yes....I LOVE to read. In fact, it’s a problematic hobby... I actually had to stop reading for a while as I didn’t know when to quit. I would stay up to wee hours of the morning... I still am quite obsessive about it, but am learning to be a bit better at “managing” my reading time. ~Robin~

  10. Bob and I went to that exhibit too.Touching the ice was eerie because you knew so many people died. It was heartbreaking because they should have had the lifeboats needed to save everyone. See you soon!! Janice
