Bowl Rack Reveal

Good evening sweet blogging friends.
Boy what a difference a day can make.
83 degrees and nice yesterday.
A cool rainy 53 degree day today.
Fall is sure in the air now.

Bob finally put up my new bowl rack.
I added my blue, orange and plain wood bowls.
Do you like?

Draped a piece of blue coverlet.

A bit of inside Autumn
with shades of gold, red, brown and orange.
All the colors of the season.
Except for the blue. LOL

This firkin (sugar bucket) on the right
is my newest one.
I purchased this one from Marie at
the Harvest at The Mill show.
It is natural in color and also a signed piece.
Just perfect to complete my Autumn decor on our jam cabinet.
Do you decorate with painted prims in your seasonal decor?

Taking my mom to her next eye surgery in the morning.
Say a wee prayer for her if you can.

Home Part Tres

Good afternoon sweet blogging friends.
A Big thank you to those who sent prayers and well wishes for my mom.
Surgery was delayed a bit as they could not dilate her eye,
so I was in the waiting room wondering why it was taking so long..
as others were leaving that went in after her.
Her  post op appointment this morning
revealed that her eye is still swelled up,
due to the eye disease she has even after removing the cataract.
She has another appt. next week to see if things are improving.
Her vision is blurry and she will be staying with us for the week.
No sense letting her try to drive home right now.

Below are a few more pics around the home.
this time in the kitchen.

Hope you enjoy.

Autumn Is Peeking Through

Good morning sweet friends.
Their is a crispness in the air.
Fog on the river and the freighters sounding out their whereabouts.
The squirrels are scurrying about hiding their food for Winter.
The Winter birds are moving in, while the geese are rounding up to leave.
Yes, Autmn is peeking through...
both outside and inside.

Besides Christmas, this time of year is my favorite.
I love the colors of Autumn.
Off to decorate some more
and create Christmas goodies.

Until next time.

Store Autumn Displays

Good afternoon sweet blogging buddies.
This morning I helped spruce up a house
that is being donated to a US soldier.
Our soldiers ~
both US and Canadian
sacrifice so much to keep us free.
When I heard that the bank I work for was donating a house
to a soldier and his family
a few towns North of me...
well I had to help out.

Shawn and Emily and their 4 girls
were given a mortgage free home.
Shawn last served in Iraq after his unit was hit
in a Taliban camp that they were in.
He was wounded, but some of his brothers died.
Their story will be featured tonight at 9PM ET
on the Amercian Heros Channel.
The show is called The Hornet's Nest.
I  wish I could watch it, but I do not get this channel.
His story made me cry
and I was glad we could help him unload their U-Haul
along with the spruce up, so that they can stay in their new home tonight.

His story reminded me of my dad.
My dad was a Marine in the Korean War.
He was shot in the head.
Fortunately for him, (and me)
he had his helmet on at the time.

Soldiers don't get to call in sick,
or take a mental health day.
They do not get home cooked meals,
and even miss a meal at times.

We are so fortunate to have men and women
who are willing to take these sacrifices.
A big shout out to all of them.

Now for some of our current store displays.

Porch Beginnings

Good evening blogging buddies!
Hope everyone is safe in the path of the upcoming storm.
Our weather folks are saying we will be getting
these strong storms sometime tomorrow.

Most of you know already how we chose
our store name
Back Porch Antiques.
For my new followers,
I will give you the short story.

We originally were going to open a small prim shop
in the back room of our home which originally was
our back porch turned into a room
with windows and a door.

Back Porch Primitives was born.
However our township changed their mind and we could not open
our little prim shop.

We set up shop in the next town,
and Bob and I worked one entire weekend
building a porch for the room we leased.

When we moved our business to our own store,
Bob always missed the porch we made.

He missed it so much,
last week he made another mini version.

Made with reclaimed beadboard, paint, old windows.
Even some old tin roofing we had laying around.
I think he did a great job!
Do you like our new porch?

Fall Is In The Air

Good morning sweet friends.
Bob and I did extremely well at our show
despite the severe weather that moved in the night before.
It hailed and the rain was coming down sideways at times
while we were at the restaurant in Holly.
After reaching our hotel later that evening,
we realized the storm was worse than we originally thought.
No air, no tv, and no lights in the bathroom.
Over 350,000 folks without power.
We even lost power at home as our son spent the night.
For him to be afraid..it must have been a powerful one.

On another note
I visited with many bloggers,
and even met new ones.
Here is a list.
If I forgot you, please let me know.
